What our customers say about their holidays
Kevin - Verified booking
The cottage is in a beautiful village.
The location of the village and the walks around the area are breath taking. We were concerned when we booked that there maybe noise from the pub, but this was never an issue even on Friday and Saturday nights. There is a wonderful golf club about a mile from the property with views over the mountains and out to sea which are amazing. Non members can use the course, but you need your own clubs. Overall the property is as you see from the photos. It was of the standard we were expecting and on all the surface areas you can see the property is very clean. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could need. There is parking at the front of the cottage. On arriving we had to move a bedside cabinet. This revelled carpet moths and their larva. The property had an infestation of carpets moths. This spoilt our whole week, (we had to hoovered the whole house, but the hoover had very limited suction) we could not unpack, kept all our clothes in suitcases or took them to the car, in fear that we would take moth larva back to our home. Once home we spent hours hoovering our cases, shaking out all our clothes in the garden and then had to wash everything we had taken. The experience was very stressful and upsetting. We sincerely hope the owners replace the carpets. You can not morally rent a property with moth infected carpets. Once this issue is resolved the property is ideal for exploring this area of North Wales.

This property is lovely and spacious, very clean and generally well equipped with ample off road parking across the road.
The layout worked well for a family with two children, the kids loved their cosy, comfortable bedrooms. The TV in the master bedroom was a nice touch as it meant we could watch TV in the evenings without disturbing the kids sleeping in the rooms off the living room. The outside space is very pleasant. The host lives nearby and popped by after we arrived to check all is ok which was lovely. There was a generous welcome gift of wine, local treats and some biscuits and sweets for the children. The property is in a very pretty and quiet area well located to explore Snowdonia and Anglesey. There are lots of supermarkets in nearby Bangor and a Tesco Express in Bethesda itself. Just a couple of minor tweaks would take this property to the next level. The pipework to the boiler in the kitchen really should be boxed in and the bathroom although very clean, smelt quite damp. I agree with what a previous guest said about the beds, the double would benefit from a new mattress or good mattress topper and replacement pillows would make the world of difference as they are very flat. However these are small things that could probably be easily remedied and we still had a really nice stay.

Lovely property in a beautiful location!
Would have no problem in returning in fact I didnât want to leave! Few disappointing issues but they didnât impact on our stay to much.. so works for the future perhaps⦠The handrail needs replacing/repairing as not secure and crack in rail. The steps in themselves are okay, but I would suggest cutting back the vegetation and removing the creeper plant at the top before it becomes a carpeted slippery step. The property is marketed as no smoking - but someone had clearly been smoking at the property. The bin absolutely reeked of cigarettes and you could smell it through the property! TVs in bedroom we couldnât get either to work as one tv appeared to have a missing remote to turn it on/off, the tv needed updating and then the sky didnât appear to work either as something wasnât connecting (both bedroom tvs). (These may weâll be rectifiable for those with the know how, but I didnât want to have to have to call and bother people / I just expected them to work - perhaps it would be beneficial to provide an idiots simple instructions for tv and sky .. not everyone knows how it works!).

In 20 years of renting holiday cottages across the UK, this property is head and shoulders the dirtiest I've stayed in.
The place was absolutely filthy, with large cobwebs in all of the rooms, which clearly shows the place had not been properly cleaned in weeks. I spent an hour and half with the hand held Dyson cleaning the cobwebs away from each room - not the best start to a birthday. The carpet on the upper level is well past its best and needs to be replaced asap. The bedside lights in the room with the bed made up did not work at all, so we moved into the other bedroom. This, like the first, stank of damp. There is a large damp patch in the bathroom ceiling. The whole property needs to be re-decorated from top to bottom and carpets replaced. The strange this is, there is a huge TV in the lounge, the washing machine, tumble drier, kettle and toaster are all Bosch - so not cheap - so its a mystery why money is being spent on the upkeep of the place. The kitchen looked relatively new, but I can't comment further, as we never used it due to the smell of damp. Sykes should inspect their properties and award a rating thereafter. I doubt the Dene would be 1 star.

Capel Cottage is a beautiful Welsh cottage which was presented spotlessly clean and with a delightful welcome pack.
Views all around the cottage are stunning and amazing walks can be started from the cottage (one hour walk to Conwy over the hill) with spectacular views. We loved the outdoor spaces front and back which were peaceful with seating areas to relax after a busy day. The cottage had everything you need and nothing you didn't, we took advantage of the spice rack, coffee maker and ice cubes which was great. The bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in and the sun room attached to the bedroom was a fabulous little space to play card games or read. Parking was never an issue and the pub next door was busy but never obtrusive. Only feedback to mention was no welcome information which told us of general house info. In addition the shower curtain situation was cheap and is not up to the standard of the rest of the property and needs reviewing. But I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others. We were sad to leave and are definitely planning on returning!
