  Living fairly locally we visit Southwold regularly so to take the opportunity to stay in our favourite town for a week at Christmas was very special - it didn’t disappoint . Ivy cottage is in a great location, close to the shops, pubs and beach and free parking across the road was easy ( May have to park anywhere you can if arriving earlier in the day but you can easily get a space after dark once day trippers go home) . Ivy cottage fitted our budget perfectly for the time of year. A small Christmas tree and festive decorations were decorating the cottage, and the living room with its large L-shaped sofa, though small, was very comfortable and cosy. Cooking Christmas dinner in the small kitchen was a challenge as very little worktop space and we struggled to find room for all our food! Luckily we had our electric camping fridge with us and we made use of the shed outside. However kitchen equipment was good quality (sharp knives, lovely wine glasses and champagne flutes, plenty of crockery and cutlery, great saucepan and fry pan set). Beds very comfortable and plenty hot water for showers. If you need to get out then the Nelson is the next perfect living room.

  We booked this cottage over Christmas to celebrate a special birthday with the family. Our group consisted of 7 adults and 5 children.The cottage was lovely and spacious with 2 large reception rooms and open plan kitchen/ dining room. It was warm and comfortable with gorgeous views and countryside walks locally.The kitchen was well equipped, just lacking a few basics such as covered dishes suitable for the oven. Also there were not enough chairs for us all to sit round the table.The utility room was large and ideal for muddy boots and coats.The bedrooms were comfortable although the master bedroom had no shaver point or mirror to use when drying your hair.One of the blinds in the main lounge was faulty and could not be let down. In several of the bedrooms and the bathroom on the ground floor there were loads of dead ladybirds and flies in the folds of the roller blinds.Having said all that we had a lovely stay at Foxhole Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our time away and would recommend this property.Suffolk Hideaway were good at answering any questions and were very helpful in allowing us into the cottage early.

  The location of this property on the Sailor's Path and Suffolk Coastal Walk made it an ideal location to stay with my dog. We had some superb walks along the trail and enjoyed the birch trees. One day we walked to Snape Maltings, which is a bit of a stretch of the legs but a great day out. The property was clean, well equipped, warm and comfortable to return to. Aldeburgh is in easy reach with its plethora of shops - Aldeburgh bookshop is first rate - and we enjoyed smoked fish bought from one of the beach smokeries. Really well located for travelling a bit further afield - Helmingham, Framlingham, Dunwich, Southwold, Sutton Hoo. Host made sure that we had the right key code. Lovely place, would be happy to stay again. View from the fenced garden (which was brilliant for dog) ever changing as the tides ebbed and flowed up the estuary. Snape Warren also easy to walk to. Good place to go. Five stars from me.

  We loved the location of Ivy Cottage as it was close to the Common, shops, pubs and the beach. The lounge was large enough for 5 adults and 2 children but unfortunately, the kitchen was not! However, it had everything we needed in terms of equipment. The outside dining space was used every day (the weather allowed for this!) and the shed was really useful as we were able to store all of our beach things in it. The downstairs bathroom was a good size and there was plenty of hot water. The agents were told of the blocked drain in the shower upstairs. We would certainly use Ivy Cottage again whilst the grandchildren are still young enough to fit the bunk beds! We all had a wonderful family holiday and Southwold didn't disappoint. Of course, the weather helped, but even if the weather is bad, there is so much to do that you could never get bored.

  Ivy Cottage is in a perfect location and fabulous for a winter break. The cottage was warm and welcoming when we arrived on a very dark, cold evening. The lamps and heating were on with an added bonus of a Christmas Tree!! The cottage appears small from the outside however had a separate dining and living area as well as two full bathrooms. The bunkbeds in the top bedroom are fine for children however using the bottom bunk for an adult was manageable but not ideal. A generous welcome pack is something I use as an indicator of the level of consideration the owner has and this one did not disappoint (as with the Molten Brown products). I've had the good fortune to stay in many Southwold cottages over the years and I would put this in the top five, especially for a winter break.
