What our customers say about their holidays
Karen - Verified booking
The property itself is lovely inside, although cleaning needs a little more attention.
The sofa was very uncomfortable to sit on and advised not to use the upstairs en-suite shower as it cut out the electrics in the whole property. Metal toiletry holder in shower and dish drainer on sink very rusty and bin in downstairs en-suite still had previous occupants rubbish in. The area adjoining the property is basically a building site, with rubble and materials everywhere. The lawn area mentioned in listing was just a neglected rough patch of land next to this and wouldnât have been pleasant to use, with the seating actually being used as a makeshift barrier anyway. The view from our windows were more building materials and we had little sleep due to the noise of things getting blown about all night. We even had builders knocking at the door early one morning looking for the owner! We couldnât leave windows open due to the amount of building dust and the outside area was very neglected in general, even the pot plants were dead. Whilst we appreciate that the owner is renovating adjoining barns to make several more letting properties, this should be mentioned before hand so that potential renters can make an informed choice on staying at this property. The site really should be fenced off adequately for safety, especially as children are allowed at the property! Arrival treats were a welcome surprise but over familiarity from the owner was not and he should respect that not everyone wants a knock on the door and chat (often too personal) whenever he sees them at the property, a meet & greet is more than sufficient for most people! Overall we didnât get our peaceful few days away in idyllic countryside overlooking lush fields & enjoying alfresco dining on the lawn & seating area as advertised, more of a constantly interrupted few days next to a building site! We felt we had to leave the property all day to find peace elsewhere, for which we could have stayed in a b&b for less cost and intrusion

The owner or overseer of the property was very helpful and friendly.
She messaged us on the day we travelled over and let us know to contact her should we have any problems. As there was no mobile reception at the holiday site, and could not locate the email with the key-safe details, and it was dark, we certainly had to communicate with her and was very helpful. The property was very similar to other Pendra Loweth holiday homes we have stayed at. This one was much better than the last one as it had downstairs toilet and washing machine. The home was very clean and tidy and we liked the wood flooring. The furniture looked nice, however we found it to be very hard to sit on, and not very comfortable. The bedrooms were nice and clean, but again the beds not very comfortable. The beds could have done with memory foam mattress topper to make them softer to lie on. The shower was very nice and powerful, very important - but having shower curtain would help prevent water from spraying over the walls. The internet was good, again very important thing to have. The TV was not that good for us as we are used to using Smart TV at home. Having Smart TV today for Netflix and Amazon is probably important thing to have in holiday cottage. The kitchen was quite small but had everything we needed to cook and clean. The main plus for us is having car charging point on site, which we relied on while there. Overall we would recommend this home.

Upon arrival we found that the door handle was hanging off so reported it immediately.
Someone came to look at it and couldnt do it so said he would send his grandad. It was obvious it needed a new lock but my husband helped do a temporary fix. The cottage was absolutely filthy with cobwebs and dead insects everywhere, we mentioned this at the time but nothing was done. I again complained a couple of days later and Someone came and mopped the floor!! Still filth and dead insects on every windowsill. I pulled the bin out to empty it and there was a build up of dirt and debris behind it, very obvious this hadn't been moved in months! I also attempted to vacuum myself but the vacuum cleaner was also filthy and covered in cobwebs. Plates and dishes were chipped and there was no way I was going to use the oven!!! Even the barbecue was broken and disgusting. We had to eat out for every meal as there was no way we could use the pans etc in there. This cost a lot more than we had planned for. The outdoor bbq house was dirty and unuseable with extension cables trailing everywhere. The owner and staff were not very friendly, on checking out the owner was outside reception and totally ignored me. I would definitely not recommend Atlantic Farm to anyone and if this is the standard of properties you use I would not recommend Sykes Cottages either.

Shrimpers cottage was a great base for our trip to Cornwall and we could not fault anything.
It was spotless, comfortable and tastfully decorated and had home from home vibe which is often lacking in some self catering accomodation. Kitchen had everything you need and outside space was larger than expected and a pleasant space to chill out after a day out. Bathroom had a great shower! Cottage is in a quiet location yet only a 5 minute stroll to the local pub and Bluntrock brewery (great atmosphere, live music and street food). A wonderful selection of local shops (butcher, baker/deli, fish and chip shop 10/10) are all within a 15 minute walk. Rock is around half hours walk away with great restaurants and the regular ferry over to Padstow. Rock is also a great base for a coastal walk to one of the many beaches in the area. Polzeath is certainly worth a visit, plenty of places to eat and a haven for watersports lovers! All in all, a fabulous holiday in a lovely cottage. Highly recommend!

Absolutely lovely place, the pictures of the views donât do it justice!
Itâs so quiet and peaceful, despite being so close to the main road you cannot hear any traffic from outside the location. Decor and fit out was really nice, bright and clean, lovely gent who owns the premises, was there to greet us and welcome us, along with a cream tea and Prosecco, canât fault that! The only slight thing was the bed settee, which would have been better as a sofa that was also higher up and easier to use, understand itâs so more people can sleep there but itâs so low down that anyone with mobility issues would struggle to get up from it, that literally is the only flaw though, lovely place and really enjoyed our stay there, would recommend for anyone looking to get away to beautiful Cornwall and stay somewhere nice and clean with some much needed peace and quiet! Glad we chose this place to stay.
