What our customers say about their holidays

We had a very nice week at the property and would very much recommend it to others.
The bungalow is nice with an enclosed, dog friendly garden and ample parking for 3 cars (6 people stayed). The bungalow is near to a busy main road but as we were not sitting outside in the garden the noise from the traffic was to an acceptable level. The kitchen was well equipped, lounge and dining area were spacious. Main bedroom & ensuite bedroom were good sizes but 3rd bedroom with twin beds was cramped. It was nice to have wardrobes that had plenty of coat hangers (so many places don't). Sofa & beds were generally comfy. The wi-fi was good and 3 TV's with smart functions were a nice touch. Alexa was a nice extra allowing us to play background music when we didn't want to watch TV. A good selection of books and games were appreciated. The central heating was very good, one of the best we've experienced at a holiday let. There were a few minor points that we'd like to make (these didn't spoil our holiday but we thought were worth mentioning) - 1) Spare bin bags & better recycling instructions would be useful 2) Whilst I wouldn't expect you to provide toilet rolls for a full week, 2 toilet rolls for 2 bathrooms & 6 people was inadequate 3) The fridge might be nearing the end of it's life as it had a tendency to freeze products rather than chill them 4) A few of the towels, placed on beds, were not properly dried/aired when we arrived so we had to put them on radiators to dry them. 5) Last but not least we thought it might be a good idea during Autumn & Winter months to re-orient the lounge so that the sofa was facing the fire (means swapping TV with sofa). It might not work but if you haven't thought about it then it might be worth trying. In conclusion - A lovely home, thanks for a nice vacation. The Bate family

I have in recent years experienced two holiday cottages that failed to be described as advertised by Sykes.
However this cottage exceeds all expectations. It was superb. It was brilliantly clean. (special thanks to the staff who clean the cottage!) The kitchen wanted for nothing, except perhaps a whisk! (But who uses a whisk when on holiday?) The furniture was comfortable to sit on and relax. Netflix was a welcome addition to the facilities. The beds were just right. We all slept well. The wet rooms were immaculate and very, very clean. There was sufficient cupboard space for clothes. Wooden hangers were in abundance. The scones and jam and cream were a lovely touch as were the treats for the dogs that accompanied our friends. The addition of a dog field was welcomed by our 4 legged fiends and they really enjoyed the freedom to run around. This house was located in an ideal position to access Cheddar,( although the Caves are at present closed the gorge is still worth a visit) Wookey Hole, Axbridge ( a little gem and worth and afternoon visit) Wells (the smallest city in England, but not small on attractions, lots more besides the Cathedral) Bristol, Bath, Street as well as the coastal towns of Weston- Super- Mare, Clevedon,( great Victorian Pier) and Burnham and all those in between. The owner was across the driveway and was accessible if required. This property has to be a jewel in the crown for Sykes. They should be rewarding this owner with as many bouquets as is possible. We will be returning when we revisit in the future. There are many places to visit.

This property is really beautifully fitted out, with seemingly nothing being too much trouble.
It was immaculately clean on arrival, and given that we are still mid-Covid, this was really reassuring to see. The gardens are beautiful and this was a fundamental part of our stay as we needed somewhere for a (mad) beagle / collie cross to run around. He loved every inch of it, and I can truthfully say that the grounds are definitely dog-proof! If we had 2 tiny niggles, one is that the dishwasher door falls open with a terrible force so please make sure you don't have any small animals or children sitting under it! Secondly, and this is something which the owner can't do anything about, but the road is really noisy. For us it made no difference as we were out and about an awful lot but I imagine that if you didn't have great weather, it might become frustrating. Everything from the decor to the accessories was homely and well thought out. We took our own vacuum, just in case the dog malted too much (which he did!), but there was one there for use if needs be. We will definitely re-visit this property - in fact we have tried to re-book for September but it's already fully booked :-( Thank you for a wonderful, much needed break.

We were greeted by the friendly owner Jane, who showed us around the property when we arrived.
She lives on site as she runs the riding school on the grounds so she was on hand if we had any issues or needed any help. What a lovely cottage, adjacent to 3 other cottages situated on the same site. Its all very modern and tastefully decorated throughout. The kitchen/dining area had everything we needed, immaculately clean with comfortable furniture. TV has Netflix so that was a bonus for us. The bedroom had a comfortable bed with more than adequate storage with a shower room and toilet en suite which was amazing. There was a second twin bedded room with another separate shower and toilet which wasn't needed by us but was just as nice. An extra bonus for us was they had a separate fenced paddock for exercising our dog while we were there . A lovely quiet place to stay in Somerset, not too far from local shops and pubs. a great base for travelling out to the southern Cotswolds, the Quantocks, Glastonbury, Cheddar and Wells. Would highly recommend.

Excellent cottage, very clean, all the appliances you need to make an easy break away.
Complimentary milk, cake and tea bags lovely touch. Complimentary milk, cake and tea bags lovely touch. Very good size rooms en-suite as well as bathroom and even a washing machine. Only criticism is that on the website it quotes that the host will contact you via email with entry code, this didnât happen and I had to message at 4 pm on the day of arrival and wait for a reply. Host meets you at the cottage which is a nice touch but would be better explained at time of booking to save any confusion . Overall excellent stay.
