What our customers say about their holidays

We returned yesterday, after a week in Cowslip cottage.
It was everything we expected it to be. A real mix of rustic with bespoke furniture and modern sofas. We arrived on a very wet miserable friday afternoon and as we opened the door we stepped into the kitchen, where we found a lovely welcome letter, a bottle of wine, fresh flowers in a vase and 6 large fresh eggs. A nice gesture that made us feel very welcome indeed. The cottage is very spacious, 3 large sofas on the ground floor along with a rocking chair, huge flat screen tv, coffee table, fitted kitchen with everything that you could want, large fridge freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. Hob and oven and washing machine is in the cupboard across the room. We ventured further and found the king size bed and ensuite, again rustic bespoke wardrobes and drawers and the room was lovely and warm. Huge bed, im only 5'0", so it was no mean feat getting onto it every night. The ensuite is spacious with shower, sink, toilet and some shelves housing other equipment. We went upstairs out of curiousity really and discovered that it was just as lovely up there, but as there were only the 2 of us, we didnt need to go up there again. But there is plenty of room for a family of 6. Outside there is a garden, safe for kiddies and dogs, a wonderful hot tub and views of the sheep and horses in the nearby field. Its a haven, away from the hustle and bustle and you are surrounded by beautiful nature, and there is something so magical about sitting outside and all you can hear is the faint bleating of sheep and the birds singing. The weather wasnt the best, but the cottage made up for that. The owners Clere and Stephen were lovely people, they made themselves known and we had phone numbers to contact them if needed, but they just let us do our thing. We had a lovely week away, felt thoroughly relaxed and we would highly recommend Cowslip cottage.

The cottage was comfortable and nicely equipped and while located in a lovely rural setting it was still well placed for exploring the area.
The owner Stephen was welcoming and popped over to give us some extra information about the area which we appreciated. The provision of fresh eggs and a bottle of wine upon arrival was a nice touch as was the vase of fresh cut flowers. The hot tub was a fantastic addition and was well maintained. Two issues we found: 1. Flies! We were constantly bothered by flies inside the cottage particularly in the kitchen and living area. Flies dancing on the kitchen worktop and equipment while preparing food was off putting as was flies skirting the rim of glasses and mugs we were drinking from when placed on the coffee table in the lounge. I appreciate that flies on a livestock farm will be an issue but perhaps the listing should make it clear that the cottage is on a working farm close to cow sheds. Although we found a can of fly spray in one of the cupboards it did little to control the fly numbers present. Perhaps the issue could be tackled by installing electric fly killers or similar at least in the kitchen and living areas. 2. On first glance the garden appeared to be fully secure as it was fenced all the way around. However there was a small gap under one section sufficient to allow the farm dog in and our dog out! On the first morning of our stay one of our dogs managed to get out without us initially noticing. Fortunately he came back, but not before half an hour of frantic searching. Once wise to the gap we used rocks from the rockery to fill it. After that all was good! Despite the flies we loved the cottage and we would choose to stay there again if holidaying in the Pembrokeshire area.

We had a lovely holiday in Todridge Barn and would thoroughly recommend it as a comfortable and welcoming place to stay.
Camilla was an efficient and friendly host and was very keen to help out with any queries. She provided a generous welcome basket of goodies when we arrived, which we really appreciated. The Barn was thoughtfully equipped with absolutely everything we needed, even including games; for example, we enjoyed several sessions of Articulate in front of a roaring log fire, all provided courtesy of the owners. Each of us had an en suite shower room and all the bedrooms were tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The surrounding countryside is stunning and the Barn is located in a peaceful spot, well away from main roads or villages. There is plenty to do in the area, and we ventured further afield too - to Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle and a trip to Lindisfarne from Seahouses. If you are interested in Hadrian's Wall, Todridge Barn is definitely the place to be, as there are many Roman sites within an easy distance. We also had several meals out in Corbridge and Hexham, where there seems to be an abundance of excellent places to eat. We would definitely go back there again!

We loved this character cottage which was of a very high standard.
It is very spacious. Lots of beams and homely touches like fresh flowers and wine. Kitchen was very well equipped and bedrooms very spacious. More beams in bedrooms upstairs. Great pillows which we find can often be flat in holiday accommodation, but not in this cottage! Lovely bed linen and there was nothing to fault. The only thing to mention is that the stairs are steep so if someone is not good on stairs, they can still sleep in the downstairs bedroom. We were spoilt with 3 bathrooms and 3 sofas! Heard cows in the background which we liked as it was a reminder we were in the country. Convenient for Haverfordwest, where there are supermarkets. The town also has a small outlet near the hospital, where you can find other stores to browse if the weather isn't good. We had very damp weather but it was January! At least we had a warm, homely cottage to return to. Would highly recommend this cottage for the perfect stay in the country in beautiful Pembrokeshire.

Whilst the cottage was lovely and the hosts extremely welcoming and friendly the property is situated in a farm, which from our memory we donât recall reading about in the description when booking?
Naturally, this comes with natureâs creatures that being flies - we did have to go straight to a supermarket to get fly spray, maybe the owners could have some in the cottage for guests to use as its known to be an issue. While there was a hoover in the cottage, we went with twin babies so a dustpan and brush would have been handy to quickly sweep up rather than getting the hoover out each time. There was plenty of space in the garden for our other children to enjoy but sadly through no fault of the owners, the hot tub was used but not as much as we would have like too, as it was full of sand. The previous guests didnât respect the use of the hot tub which in turn effected us. The cottage was very clean when we arrived, comfy beds and the property is very close to shops, pubs etc in the local village.
