  We loved our stay at Hartswood farm!

  I was quite skeptic to book the place as there were not many reviews published and none recently, but the place was lovely! Exactly as pictured and described, and we were welcomed with fresh eggs, milk and cake which was very sweet and generous. The pool was a beautiful and relaxing addition, and the goats also deserve a shout out. The hosts were responsive to any queries and we tried 2 pubs in the area that were recommended in the handbook and they were lovely and both dog friendly. Our only criticisms and things to note is that the stairs up to the apartment can get quite tiring after a while, especially for our elderly dog and they can be quite slippery in the rain so probably not best for anyone with mobility issues, but they are well advertised in the property listing so this is merely just an observation! The TV is rather old and quite grainy, and the remote was terribly temperamental so an update would be beneficial but the dvd player and selection of movies available to borrow downstairs is a lovely touch. Sofas were also a bit hard and positioned a little strange for the TV so were quite uncomfortable. Bedding was also quite large for the quilts which was a little irritating as they were either tucked under the mattress or super long and hitting the floor. Finally, and this may just be me, but I did find the bedrooms rather eerie, especially the twin room with the large alcove space to the right side of the beds. Perhaps a lighter, brighter colour may improve the atmosphere of those two rooms. Overall though, our stay was lovely, relaxing, clean and dog friendly and we would happily come back.   Overall, Bodfan Peniel was a lovely cottage, ideally placed in the centre of the island making journeys to every coast easy and equidistant.

  It is located in a quiet rural spot with lovely views of the surrounding countryside, and a peaceful place to return after a day out exploring. The cottage has been tastefully updated, but could do with some coffee tables for drinks and playing games in the lounge and the rear sitting room, and some lamps for more subtle evening lighting while watching TV. The owners were very helpful and friendly, however, they didn't like us charging our EV using the extension lead (which had a thermal cut-out and was perfectly safe and an acceptable means of charging a vehicle via a 3-pin trickle charge), and on leaving, was looking to levy a surcharge, despite us advising that to top-up an electric car by 20 miles (our daily use) was probably about £2 worth of electric. No different to using the TV, running the washing machine, charging laptops etc. Given we'd paid near £1k for our week (which should more than cover our water and utilities during our stay,) this felt like a kick in the teeth. Eventually, more visitors will be arriving at Bodfan Peniel in electric cars, and the owners need to embrace this and be more accommodating. Took the shine off a great week.

  The cottage was lovely, very clean warn and welcoming.

  Had every facility in the kitchen you could think of. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, literally everything was supplied. The mattress where comfortable and the pillows ok (just a little soft- I ended up getting 2 more off another bed) The 2 biggest things for me where: 1. The blinds in the room need to be black out. Now we are in the summer and it's getting light at 4am the current blinds do not stop this. Unfortunately it woke us and the baby early every morning. Some black out blinds would be better. 2. The gate needs to be a little securer as even a large dog could get under this and escape out on to the busy main road. Luckily our dogs are pretty good and stayed in the garden. However I can see why previous guests have been concerned. However overall our stay has still been 5/5 we all had a lovely time (apart from the bad weather) and we would all highly recommend Wren Cottage.

  This was a long-anticipated weekend away with our daughters, their partners and dogs so we were thrilled to find a beautiful cottage with everything we needed to make our reunion special.

  The owners have thought of everything - including generous welcome provisions - and we all felt like we were checking into an upmarket hotel when we found our lovely bedrooms. There were lots of nice walks within a short drive, the Ram's Head farm shop was a perfect place to stock up on goodies and the local pub, The Junction Inn, was just a short walk away and a great place for drinks and pub food. The website photos really do not do full justice to this lovely property and we are already planning a return visit in the Spring. PS although we are regular Sykes customers, we actually booked this cottage via the Dog-Friendly Cottages site as it was the best way to find a property that would accommodate 3 dogs!

  We had a fabulous holiday at Wren Cottage.

  The location was amazing with beautiful scenery and the added bonus of a cosy pub - The Junction Inn - just 5 minutes walk down the road, selling very tasty food. The cottage itself has all the amenities you could ask for, even a welcome basket and a fabulous coffee machine and pods. The rooms and beds are very cosy and comfortable with plenty of hangers to put your clothes on. The wood burner was very welcome during the chilly evenings. Hairdryers were also in most bedrooms, so no need to bring your own. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap are also in each bathroom. Wren Cottage was a very comfortable base with which to visit our northern family and we will definitely be back - thank you!
