What our customers say about their holidays

I emailed you from the cottage.
Incredibly dissatisfied with the location and condition. Had we known it was right next to the A35 we would not have booked. Two nights unable to sleep due to the incessant noise from cars speeding down the A35, it went on throughout the night. Mould in the bathroom and a general air of neglect. The general state of the cottage left a lot to be desired. Has anyone from Sykes been to check it out.....? We have an annex at our Hampshire home and consistently get 10 out of 10 from guests, Barton cottage would rate three at best on our scale Will not be recommending this to anyone, Its an incredible disappointment given that it was a 60th birthday surprise for me fiancé. Someone from your company needs to visit this cottage and ask themselves would they pay the amount we have paid. Is there a way of sending pictures of mould, please advise We feel cheated and feel a refund would be appropriate Sincerely

Lovely property and welcome pack.
The rooms are comfortable and clean with good facilities. Sadly we feel that the outside doesnât live up to the inside. The garden although when landscaped was obviously lovely it is now very tired and not maintained. Couldnât see the sea view as the hedge was overgrown. The grass wasnât cut and the borders are overgrown with weeds and nettles. Also sat on chair on the deck and the chair leg collapsed through the decking which is rotten. Bit unsafe and needs attention. Shame as the weather was beautiful but couldnât enjoy sitting outside. The TV wouldnât turn on after the 3rd day even though we renewed the batteries in the control, not the end of the world but as itâs a long walk to town sitting in during the evenings was left a little boring.

We stayed in Nuthatch with two young children.
Whilst some other family stayed in the other cottage here. We received a very warm welcome and we all loved our stay. The gardens were lovely and well kept. The rooms were nice and the bed in the main bedroom was a good size for all four of us to comfortably fit in of a morning. The cottage was well set up for kids but could have done with a stair gate and a second baking tray for our dinners. It was quiet even though we were next to the road and the boys were able to safely run between the cottages to visit family whenever they wanted. The cake Sally made for our arrival was yummy. We had a lovely bbq but if you are planning to have one during your stay ensure to bring some metal utensils with you. Thank you for a great stay.

On arrival we were a little disappointed, the outside and grounds of the cottage could do with a little TLC.
..The bin and parking area need a tidy up and weeding. And all the windows need a good clean. However on entering the cottage, what a difference. Lovely and clean, well equipped with more than adequate seating and two lovely comfortable bedrooms with nice comfy beds. Upstairs and downstairs toilets are brilliant...this place is in a great location for exploring the Jurassic coast. Loads of parking space, if your canny you could get 3 medium sized cars in, and a beautiful view from the garden of the bay. Bus stops right outside the property for the coastliner service that runs hourly from 9am till 7am...For these reasons we would definitely recommend this cottage for your break and we will book Cumberland cottage again.

A very comfortable cottage for two couples with nearby footpath and woodland walks and interesting villages to visit, with the coast not too far.
Visited in summer so no need for central heating or wood burner but the cottage appeared well-insulated. The main rooms downstairs are spacious and the two bathrooms/shower rooms upstairs were excellent as were the beds and bedding. Welcome pack from hosts was, err, welcome! Minor gripes (really minor): the dining table could have been a bit bigger (or extendable), some crockery was chipped and more food-prep knives would have been nice. One of our party bemoaned the absence of a writing/computer table which could have been accommodated nicely in the upstairs sitting vestibule. The stairs are indeed steep but this was well-signposted in the advertising. That said, we'll be happy to return. Thank you Nick and Emma.
