What our customers say about their holidays
Jos Forester-Melville - Verified booking
Our holiday at Taigh na Carr was exceptional from booking to leaving.
Communication with the LHH team was tremendous during pandemic circumstances when everything was up in the air. They dealt with the swift transition of an Easter break, which became and impossibility due to national lockdown, to an autumnal break which brought with it rainbows and waterfalls in abundance! The cottage was pristine clean and cosy. Modern in every respect from the comfortable sofa and toasty log burner to the clean cut kitchen, cupboards and work surfaces. If you like architecture and attention to detail, Taigh na Carr has it all. The week was largely rainy but this didn't detract from the fact that from every angle, the view was breathtaking. From opening the curtains in the morning and viewing the golden eagle up the hill, to closing the shutters in the evening and not wanting to miss a moment of the pine marten and badger, we loved our time here. We needed to check up with the owners and the housekeeper on a couple of occasions and they were more than helpful. Really lovely people. We will definitely be returning to this wonderful holiday home with the best view ever. We're really grateful to LHH for keeping things ticking over so well for those holidaying in the Highlands. It has been a challenging year for travellers and businesses alike, and we'd like to point out that we have had nothing but great experiences with LHH over the ten years or more that we've been holidaying with them. Thank you for your support in negotiating dates with the owners to ensure we still had our holiday. You did your very best for us. We know it's been a tricky time for small businesses and especially those in the travel industry, but we'll stick by you always as no other company comes close. We hope others enjoy Taigh na Carr as much as our family did.

Taigh Na Carr is a stunning modern house in a beautiful location.
It was a perfect base for us to explore the peninsula south of Loch Alsh and only a 40 minute drive from the Skye bridge. The road through Letterfearn terminates in a lovely walk around a wee bay full of seals which gives you a view of Eilean Donan Castle that most tourists don't get. Carry on and you will discover a ruined broch and a tough hill climb which rewards you with beautiful views up Loch Alsh all the way to the bridge. In this part of the world, you can always be unlucky with the weather (we were for most of the week we were there) but if you remember "there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing" you should be fine. And when it was really chucking it down, Taigh Na Carr was a well-appointed, relaxing base with all the creature comforts including a cracking fireplace with plenty of wood in the shed. The WiFi in the house is really not good and the TV is small so if you like to watch a movie at night, take your own film and playing device. The best thing we did was to organise a boat trip via Seaprobe Atlantis that picked us up on the salmon farm jetty 300 yards down the road and took us all the way to the Applecross Inn for dinner and back. Highly recommended (but not cheap!).

Very clean, modern, comfortable and spacious property in a quiet location with a great unobstructed view of Loch Duich.
The kitchen was very well equipped (the only thing I would have liked was a pizza cutter). We were visited by pinemartins, a badger, a tiny field mouse and lots of different types of birds that came to the bird feeder. The pinemartins love bird nuts and the badger polished off the cat food we left out. We also saw salmon and bats and heard an owl. There were mountain goats further along the road. Broadband was hit and miss but O2 mobile data was fine so we were able to stream from BBC iPlayer and cast our programmes to the TV. There was a big speaker but we couldn't work out what it was for. A Bluetooth speaker would have been great for us to also play music on via our phones. The stars looked great on a clear night because there was minimal light pollution. It gave me the chance to experiment with my night vision goggles. I also flew my drone a few times to get some nice pictures of the scenery. Our favourite local activities were the Highland cow walk through tour at Duirinish (they have a Facebook page) and the turntable ferry that operates between Glenelg and Skye.

The property was in a beautiful location and the views were amazing.
We saw birds, squirrels, deer, splashed in the Loch and went for lovely, tranquil woodland walks. I loved the upstairs and everything we needed was there and more. We were very comfortable upstairs and spent loads of time on the balcony looking at the view. I was on the bunk bed and found the mattress a bit uncomfortable but guess it would be fine for tired children. The cottage wasnât spotless there were patches of dust but it was clean enough. The main problem for us was that there was no reception on any of the mobiles we tried ( BT, Vodaphone, O2). We needed to speak to a vet urgently and none were contactable on Whatâs aap. It also became a bit frightening being there with an elderly parent. Obviously I get the â getting a way from it allâ principle and understand itâs the Highlands but I think there needs to be clear information about phones, reception and the facility of an emergency phone. I wouldnât go again because of this. However it was peaceful and beautiful and feel a bit sad that there is this limitation for our family.

We never got to stay in bramble cottage at the last minute the owners contacted us and told us that Bramble cottage was unavailable due to maintenance issues so we were given a cottage called periwinkle.
they told us it was an upgrade over bramble cottage this again is a lie bramble had a four poster bed periwinkle has a normal double, Bramble has a really large kitchen, Periwinkles kitchen is tiny in comparison the décor in Bramble is much nicer there are big beautiful windows at bramble and Tiny little windows at periwinkle before arrival we asked if we could have Lavender cottage as that looked nicer than Bramble but were told outright flat NO as they said it was booked even though there website said it was available the lady on the phone was really rude to my wife and said that is all we have take it or leave it end of conversation, upon arrival and the main reason for being unhappy we found another couple STAYING IN BRAMBLE the cottage we had booked and were told we could not have due to maintenance issues so they had clearly LIED there was no maintenance issue with bramble cottage they had clearly given the cottage to someone else even though we had booked it through yourselves
