What our customers say about their holidays

  • Amanda - Verified booking

Lovely property apart from no WiFi all weekend with three teenagers!

!! Property was lovely, newly done out with high quality fittings, thoughtfully decorated and well considered, spacious and comfortable for a lodge and spotlessly clean. Hot tub was running when we got there on large decked area and remained at a pleasant consistent temperature of 35 degrees. The property is located at the top of a hill and is very peaceful on top of a hill. As you walk or drive down the hill there are some stunning views of the Llyn Pennisula. Everyone happy with the property until the realisation that the WiFi advertised in the brochure and on the sign up to the property was none existent within the property and only accessed down the dirt path leading up to it. As 50 somethings we were okay with this but definitely an issue for three teenagers who had been told would have WiFi as advertised. We tried to contact the owners on the numbers provided and were unable to the first night then told the owners were away and given another number but still no response so had no WiFi for the whole weekend If you are ok with no WiFi I would recommend the property itself which as I said is really lovely and in a great spot to explore the beautiful Llyn but if this is something that is important to members of the group would unfortunately say to reconsider.

Fantastic Stay at Gorwel Cottage – Highly Recommended! We recently spent a wonderful week at Gorwel Cottage in Wales, and it was the perfect getaway for our family, including my partner, two teenagers, my parents, and our two dogs. The cottage exceeded our expectations in every way! The location is simply stunning, with breathtaking sea views that made every morning special. The secure garden was a huge plus, especially for the dogs, who had plenty of space to run around safely. The hot tub was a wonderful touch – a great way to unwind after a day of exploring. Inside, the cottage was well-equipped with everything we could possibly need for a self-catering stay. The kitchen had all the utensils and appliances we needed to prepare meals, and the living spaces were spacious, clean, and comfortable for our whole family. We felt right at home. The surrounding area was peaceful, with plenty of opportunities for walks and outdoor activities. It was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure, and the cottage provided a warm, welcoming base for our family. We all agreed that our stay at Gorwel Cottage was excellent, and we’re already talking about returning. Highly recommended for families and anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with stunning views!

Where do I start: The beds are so uncomfortable you can feel the springs through them.

We had to sleep on the floor. Also there is only 1 curtain in the main bedroom, so its really light at night. The train starts at 6am and then rumbles with its engine on for ages so it wakes you up. Which is probably why the ensuite is now part of the twin and bunk room, not the main double bedroom. But the rumble goes through the floor so it wakes you anyway. Black mould on the shower upstairs and the door doesn't close properly and so the mat gets wet. Some of the oven trays were greasy in the cupboard and three of the cooker knobs had been previously melted. The washing machine washed, but didn't spin, or dry. In fact when we put it on dry, it washed the clothes again! I did complain but was told that is was new and it was not to be fixed, as it was probably user error. The smell from under the stairs was very odd and when I used the hoover, it smelt like someone had been sick in it. The best thing about the house, was the very comfortable sofa. Rather ripped in places, but comfy. The view was nice, but as the house is on the main road into town, sitting out was too noisy from the traffic going past. Along with the night club not 550m away, sleeping is very disturbed in this house.

Just returned home from a lovely break in Wales.

Lovely lodge in a lovely location with beautiful views. The lodge was clean, beautifully furnished & had a fantastic hot tub. Unfortunately the hot tub took about 5 hours to reach temperature after arrival as it wasn’t switched on. We took our 2 dogs with us but the lodge isn’t completely secure but that wasn’t a problem as we were able to block the entrance to the decking easily to ensure they wouldn’t run off. Provided in the lodge were cleaning products, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, hand soap, towels, bedding, family board games and a washing airer, which were all very welcomed. The reason why I’ve only rated it a 9/10 was because although it was described as having WiFi, it did not work. Unfortunately with 2 small children who get bored easily, this was a bit of a problem as there isn’t any signal in the area so kids were unable to use tablets, or use the apps on the smart TV or Google nest. Overall, I would stay again as it’s a lovely lodge but the WiFi could do with being looked at.

Thankyou for a lovely stay at this cottage. What an amazing outdoor area with so many deck chairs, seating and a wonderful hot tub. Stunning views from the cottage and garden. Shame about the main road nearby but we didn't hear any noise once inside. Cottage comes equipped with everything you could think of, kitchen very well appreciated- massive fridge and utensils for everything. Hair dryer appreciated in rooms. Hot tub was just beautiful. An amazing location to explore the coast and the mountains. Only shame we felt was slightly more care could have been paid to cleanliness before arrival as the kitchen was in need of a sweep and there was a dirty towel in one of the rooms. The ensuite room was appreciated but we did encounter the shower to easily start filling up and we're anxious of it being clogged so used the other bathroom. All in all, fantastic holiday and would definitely recommend. Also perfect for the dog to enjoy and was always safe in the enclosed garden. Thankyou very much.
