On arrival the location and views are stunning.
The cottage itself was cold, with the underfloor heating in the conservatory not working, with the general heating coming on at random times, being cold first thing in the morning when needed. This property is advertised as 2 bathrooms, bathroom 2 which is by the front door is large enough just to get you in with a shower, which needs the door replacing, also was unusable due to being freezing in there..... Bedrooms are comfortable both with great views , bedroom 1 the radiator doesn't work, bedroom 2, the door needs shaving at bottom as hard to shut rubbing across the hard floor, which is not great at night, could also do with a bedside cabinet on the veranda side. Kitchen is fully equipped and superb.... We also had a problem with the TV not working, which we had seen in previous reviews, but hadn't been resolved. After contacting Sykes TV and underfloor heating were resolved. Having said all that with these problems, biggest being advertised as 2 bathrooms when you have 2 couples only realistically being able to use the one upstairs, its a great property, but needs a bit of TLC.

Lovely holiday home, with excellent location for wondering around Amble and sampling the many delights on offer.
Pity about beach being off limits to dogs during high season 1May>> apart from that very dog friendly area for responsible owners, with many places to sample local fair. House itself clean and comfortable. Added extras like Nespresso Machine great touch, wish I had known in advance. Only issues , not complaints , were staircase a bit steep ( but probably typical for house type ) ,main bed was small double not king size and Central Heating controls a bit mixed up with heating coming on unnecessarily in the middle of the night. Northumberland is a great area and Light Keeper House is a vg base for a holiday. Property owners are doing a good job to make an older property feel more modern with some lovely finishing touches. Would rebook Light Keeper House for another holiday in the future. Thank you for a comfortable base for our holiday.

We had a very comfortable stay at Creel Cottage.
It was extremely well appointed, the owners have thought of almost everything. The cottage is perfectly situated in a quiet spot on the outskirts of Amble but within easy walking distance of the town. Parking was also very easy. We travelled to Alnwick by bus and can definitely recommend Barter Books and the Aln Valley Railway. Cragside Estate is relatively nearby and well worth a visit. The walk alongside Amble marina to Warkworth village and castle was a highlight, as was Hauxley Discovery centre. We even took to the air with Northumberland Microlights. One fly in the ointment was the complete lack of information about how to watch terrestrial television. The owners will know which handset to use and how to remove someone elseâs choice of channels which appear fixed but we had no idea how to do it. This was somewhat frustrating.

Could have been cleaner.
Dust in the bathroom and the floor downstairs felt it had not been cleaned properly. We had a problem with the lights upstairs (luckily we arrived when it was daylight). This was fixed however only lasted 3 days and the landing one went again and this was not fixed for the rest of our stay. The cooking pans were past there best. The 2 single beds were not very comfy could feel the mattress springs and the sheets felt gritty. We were informed about a damp patch on the ceiling of the back bedroom when they came to fix the electrics and were told it was a missing slate on the roof and hopefully we shouldn't get any rain! There was no hanging space in the back bedroom and the door would not close to give us some privacy. The location is perfect and Amble is a lovely place.

The cottage was lovely and larger than we expected.
It was very well equipped with plenty of pans and baking trays etc., as we like to cook for ourselves. An added bonus for us was that there was somewhere to store our bikes (we were cycling on the coast and castles cycle route). There was plenty of space for our dogs and the position of the cottage was excellent for dog walks on the green and on nearby beaches. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a full sky package on the TV, which gave us a choice of films to watch in the evenings and enabled my husband to watch formula 1 on Sunday. We were so impressed with the cottage and the lovely town of Amble that we have re-booked the cottage for next year.
