What our customers say about their holidays

Firstly, I want to make clear we are very fond of this property and have stayed here numerous times.
It makes it all the more disappointing that we have had such a negative experience this time. We stayed here last year and reported that the bread knife was missing from the knife block - it still hasn't been replaced! it's very frustrating to return from the excellent local bakers with a freshly baked loaf and have to hack it apart with an unsuitable knife. Our main problem was with the downstairs, the armchairs are looking very grubby and worn out. Apart from that, one of them is a potential health hazard, so much so we didn't use it at all, the front legs are 'wonky' and one of them looks on the point of collapse. There is a general air of neglect otherwise, the door handle to the main bedroom comes off and did so twice, two of the loo roll holders likewise, all for the sake of a small retaining screw. The grill tray in the oven was caked in the charred remains of previous meals. I had to scrub it with a scourer myself, surely this should be clean for each new customer? We won't be returning until we are sure these issues have been addressed, the attention to detail is sadly lacking.

We had the most wonderful week at Trerair over the New Year. It is incredibly comfortable, well-located and thoughtfully done, with everything you could possibly need for your stay. Everything has been thought of including the smallest details. The big dining table was perfect for long, memorable meals with friends or family and each room was warm, cozy and full of character! Trerair was the perfect base for the many activites Rock has to offer from beautiful walks and surfing to beach days, golf and fantastic pubs and restaurants. That said, some of our favourite moments were spent at the house, relaxing in front of the fire, playing games and making the most of the beautiful house. There were many comments about it being âthe best New Year everâ and I can definitely say that the house played a huge part in making it such a special and unforgettable few days.

Lovely, spacious house with good sized bedrooms & bathrooms split across the two floors and a large parking area. The kitchen is very modern and well equipped, with plenty of dining space and with an additional outdoor dining area with lovely country scenery. Sunset views in particular can be spectacular! Fantastic location a few minutes from beautiful Port Isaac, which has a Co-op supermarket, a great pub and various dining options. Perfect location for long coastal walks (or short drives) to Tintagel, Polzeath, or many other stunning spots. Some great farmshops nearby, such as Trevathan, with a lovely cafe & shop, as well as offering excellent activities for the kids. The host, is very responsive and helpful, as well as knowledgeable about the area. Hope to return here again in the future.

Amazing views and a spacious property with all we needed.
The hot tub was much appreciated as was the log burner, though the house was warm with good heating. The beds were comfortable and it was good to have the facilities of the utility room too. The walk down to the beach and Tate gallery was easy -also back though it is of course a steep hill! Walking down into the facilities of the town was also easy through the small streets. There weren't lots of seats in the sitting room close to the decking but we moved some from one of the bedrooms so we could all sit comfortably during our stay. It was a brilliant holiday and place to stay. (Small niggle : the dinner plates are too large for the dishwasher and it wasn't possible to move the top rack up any further. Small but irritating as we ended up washing them up!)

I was very concerned about the previous reviews, so I queried them before our holiday and was told âThe local office have advised that all feedback has been addressed by the maintenance teamâ This is totally untrue.
The main bedroom light flickered all night long even though it was OFF. Maintenance had to come out and disconnect the whole light. Thereâs no patio furniture at all. Beautiful garden and patio but nowhere to sit. Markings on the cooker have worn away so itâs total guesswork. The hot water is very temperamental, we had several cold showers! The bath plug in the downstairs bath doesnât hold water all so you canât use it. Thereâs no access to the garage for storage despite the listing saying so. Lovely location but the house is very dated, very basic and is in dire need of some TLC. I think the advert should be changed to reflect this. I contacted John Bray while we were still in the property, and Iâm yet to hear back.
