What our customers say about their holidays

It was a lovely place to stay.
Nice distant view of the sea. Appreciated lots of windows that opened wide. The children loved having 2 TV's. Everywhere was very clean. The downstairs sofa was good for sleeping on...this meant our 4 children could spread out for sleeping. The curtains and blinds are really good and keep out the light well. We walked to the sandy beach every day....its a very steep walk, so coming back is hard work but do- able and good exercise! I would have appreciated a washing line in the garden and pegs. Also instructions for the washing machine or some idea of the length of the programmes would be helpful. The rubbish instructions could be clearer. In the cupboard near the microwave it has different info to that in the welcome folder. Also it wasn't clear that all the rubbish, recycling and food waste just had to be mixed in one bin...i had to phone up to find this out. Some further info on what things should be put in the linen bags at the end of the stay would be helpful. I didn't know how many pillow cases to take off...each pillow had 2, also whether both tablecloths should be taken off. The cleaner told me the mattress protectors should be taken off but i had not thought to do this. Some specific info would help here. Should the bed spreads go in the bags too? If you are replacing pillows ever...some firmer ones would be nice. The screen for the shower over the bath seems to be jammed.....this means that lots of spray from the shower comes out onto the floor and toilet. Overall we were very happy with the property. Lastly..I would prefer to know where the property is exactly on initial booking. Having to wait until paying all the money was not great.

Hm...
. Lovely cottage, in brilliant location. But. Despite being rated as 4-star (and with a 4-star price) in our view it was only really at most a 3-star. The inside was dowdy, same dreary colour in the whole cottage, needed a good decorate, hardly any power sockets, several windows that wouldn't open and all single glazed with broken latches. Looks like it hadn't been touched for many many years except it had a nice new kitchen. One settee was broken and very uncomfortable, the other and the chair just uncomfortable. Was a bit grubby throughout, cobwebs in corners of every room, carpets cheap, same thoughout and several stains. Heating electric and uncontrolable. Outside hadn't been swept for weeks if not months, plants overgrown, pots untouched and unweeded. Very grubby by kitchen door with some plastic toys full of stagnant water and just been left for quite sometime... Whilst we have enjoyed our break very much this is the first time we have had a poor experience with a Lyme Bay Holidays cottage. It seems to us that it is being used as a cash cow, getting away with spending anything on it to maximise profit. The TV did breakdown and Lyme Bay Holidays were exceptional in replacing it the same day....

We enjoyed our stay.
The house was spotlessly clean, warm and comfy and the goody bag a very welcome treat, thank you! The parking was a bit tricky because of the awkward camber on the drive but with three cars in total we really appreciated it. Without it parking in Lyme would've been a nightmare! We didn't bring the dogs in the end but the house was very well equipped for them. Only a couple of minor points and suggestions. The curtains in the top double bedroom were very flimsy and kept coming off the rail. Lined curtains would be better at keeping the light out. The dishwasher is far too small: although it's hard to see where a full sized one would fit, it's quite inadequate for the number of guests the house can accommodate. Perhaps a solar light to aid parking at night would have prevented an argument with the low wall when squeezing into the double space! Finally, just a suggestion that it would be nice to have a large oven proof casserole dish - the one provided had plastic handles so we didn't use it - and not every family will eat out/have takeaways every night! Notwithstanding, it was a very comfortable and pleasant house to stay in and if we go back to Lyme again with the dogs we'd book it again.

Nice, modern house.
Well equipped with off road parking. Clean and comfortable. Location is about 2/3 of a mile from the harbour and beach. Be prepared for a 300 yard steep walk back to the house if you walk into town. Thereâs an alternate route through the local cemetery that avoids most of the hill but makes it about a mile each way. Lyme Regis is a fun place to visit. The beaches are full of fossil interest, particularly Monmouth Beach at low tide. We were surprised at how busy it was, mid-week in mid-May. I dread to think what it would be like Bank Holiday weekend in August. âThe Shipâ inn had the best fried fish of the 3 places we tried . Some nice cliff top walks to the east of the town. Stonebarrow Hill is National Trust and has great coastal views. Itâs at the end of a longish drive along a very narrow country road so be prepared for a reversal or two into a passing place. Hive Beach is another NT property that offers a walk to Cogden Beach that is miles long. Great dog walking and the sea worn stones on the beach are beautiful and varied. We had a good 4 night break. Would stay again, if we can find a less busy time and now that we know about the cemetery cutout route to avoid the hill!

I wasnât going to respond to this but you have sent a couple of reminders.
We enjoyed our stay at this lovely property in an excellent location. However our stay was spoilt by the shower over the bath being out of action. We reported the leak and the maintenance man planned to seal what was the wrong area, we pointed out that the problem was actually a badly fitted bath requiring more than just sealant patching. It was causing water leakage into both the downstairs bedroom & kitchen dining area. We did not want to cause anymore damage so agreed we would just use the en-suite shower but wanted to keep use of the bath for our 2 year old grandson. We did expect that we would be suitably compensated for this but weâre offered an extra night in a property they were obviously having problems letting given the number of free weeks available and the large reductions of £300+ they were making. I did expect that we would get a compensation offer at least equal to that but we only received a small offer which we decided to take as better than nothing. We were disappointed as we thought we were being helpful to the owners in trying to avoid greater problems in what is a great property for a holiday.
