What our customers say about their holidays
David - Verified booking
The house is certainly large and can easily accommodate 10 people in its bedrooms and reception rooms/dining room etc, although only two bathrooms is not enough for 10 people.
The garden is also large, but the area around the front door is covered in weeds and generally unkempt â we also had to pick up toys from the garden and the lawn needed mowing. There was a significant smell of wet dog when we first arrived, but we got used to that (and the property did allow dogs so fair enough). We got the impression that the property was a little closer to the sea, when it is in fact two fields away, so whilst the views of the sea are great from upstairs, you are a 5-10 min walk from being on the cliff path. Most of the garden furniture was rusty and you had to be very careful when using it. The BBQ was good and we made an excellent meal on it one night. With the Exception of the showers (clearly recently renovated to a high standard), the rest of the house is tired and needs a good re-decoration â Master bedroom wallpaper is literally peeling off in multiple places, damp patches everywhere, stained cushions on nearly every chair, carpets in need of a good clean, plaster falling off in en suite bathroom, all the windows had wind whistling through them (we had very windy weather for two nights and had to put parcel tape on the bedroom windows on the second night because we couldnât sleep with loud noise!). The kitchen was well stocked with dishes (although some of it did need dusting!) and cutlery and everything worked, expect the fridge door that did not shut properly without an extra push (like previous visitors, we lost some milk and chicken because it went off due to the door). Unlike previous guest reports, we found the house mostly clean, other than the windows in the conservatory (lovely big room overlooking the garden), which were dirty with previous visitors hand prints all over them and some of the crockery and cutlery needed washing â so this should be picked up by the cleaners each week. The bed configurations were fine, the beds were very comfy and towels provided were lovely and fluffy. The airing cupboard was a disaster zone and we did not hang anything in there to dry. As mentioned by previous visitors, the master bed had two single duvets on it, which is weird and uncomfortable â a little purchase here would solve that. The sets of drawers in all bedrooms were one tug away from falling apart. The en suite had no lock on the door, a broken sink plug and the main light was broken. There was a distinct lack of mirrors Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but were disappointed with the general repair of the house and feel it needs some TLC â it is clear it is the ownerâs second home rather than its main purpose being set-up as a holiday let â the upside of this is that it had lots of things (cooking stuff, cutlery, crockery, good beds, books, toys etc) that you might not get in a holiday let, but the downside being is that we didnât feel like we had been considered as paying visitors looking for a quality holiday cottage experience.

The property itself was lovely, however there are several things that need improvement- The carpets are very dirty.
There is only 1 wardrobe for 5 bedrooms !! and the 1 wardrobe that is there doesn't close properly. Wallpaper peeling of the wall in master bedroom. The window in the master bedroom doesn't fit and when it's windy the noise is unbearable. Also the downpipe on the wall outside of the master bedroom is loose and in windy weather also makes it very noisy when trying to sleep. A lot of the lights do not have bulbs in or do not work. The light in the ensuite bathroom was not working and we had to wait 2 days for the management company to fix it. The furniture is very dated to the extent that all the chest of drawers are broken, the sofas are very uncomfortable and tired. The bed in the master bedroom is 2 singles pushed together with a mattress topper over which is fine however the duvet is 2 single duvets. Why? The garden furniture us all very rusty. The whole property is in desperate need of some TLC and furniture replacement to bring it up to the standard that is charged for the rental. The management company should surely check things like light bulbs and ensure that everything is in working order before each letting. Also there is no controllable heating in the property, it only came on twice each day at pre-set times and temprature and on cold October days was not really acceptable. The tv is of inadequate size the for the size of the lounge. There are no instructions as to how to connect to the Wi-Fi router. It's a shame because the property could be superb if some time and money was spent on it.

We had such a brilliant week at Jubilee Cottage.
The cottage was clean and comfortable, and we loved the quirky traditional features. The shutters are lovely! Very comfortable beds too. The layout was perfect for our needs. Family of 2 adults and 2 boys age 10 and 11. They enjoyed the mezzanine level, and would disappear up there after a busy day at the beach . The downstairs shower room also very handy to wash the sand off before going any further into the cottage. The private front area was a little sun trap and great for drying wet suits and storing body boards etc. The back garden with patio furniture was great for relaxing with a glass of wine! The cottage is set in a little hamlet, roads are traditionally Cornish! We have a large Volvo and managed it, the car fit on the designated parking area. You do have to be a relatively good driver to navigate the local roads! Area was outstanding. Short 10 min walk to the beach, not a walk for people with mobility issues, as down a steep track. I managed it in flip flops though so not too bad! Beach gorgeous. Low tide for 3 hours a day only so itâs not a busy busy beach. Kids loved it as little caves and âprivateâ rock pools to play in. Paradise. We were lucky enough to have wall to wall sunshine for the entire week. We visited Rock, Port Isaac and Charlestown. I can Honestly say the most beautiful places in the U.K. I have visited. Also had lunch at the Port William Inn over looking the local beach. Sorry for the essay but we had such a great time I had to tell all. We will be back, thank you

This is a beautiful property and any niggling issues we had were relatively petty, but perhaps the owner will take our recommendations on board, as they are so easily rectified.
Minor, but irritating there are no bins upstairs, as we both suffer with hay-fever we get through a great deal of tissues. We ended up pinching the bin from the bathroom - which by the way has no lock. When we sat down on the night time, there was no where to put your glass or cup. We turned our cases into makeshift tables.. which offered some amusement! Now it would not have been such an issue, had I not broken my ankle after the booking was made. However, with a slight weakness remaining, the downstairs bathroom was a real pain - exacerbated by the spiral staircase. Just give this some thought when booking. Also if you have any back problems, the sofas were so low it was easier to roll off them than stand up. The bed was wonderful though. The last and most frustrating aspect was the inability to enjoy the fantastic view. The picnic table, again great for eating, but not so great for resting with a book. Was situated on the lawn - no view - it was boiling hot and there was no umbrella. In the end we had to buy a couple of camping chairs, 1, so we could see the sea and 2, so we could sit in the shade. Overall it is a lovely property of you are fit and sprightly. The other available properties on this complex also look lovely. The things I have mentioned are very minor, but it wasn't a cheap stay, and with no welcome pack - a packet of biscuits would have done - the pretty niggles were slightly annoying.

We stayed for 2 weeks and paid a large sum to do so.
On arrival all the windows and doors where open to air the cottage, clean bedding and fresh towels. You are not allowed in till 5pm for covid cleaning well it had not been done fingerprints all over the toaster, mouldy coffee in coffee caddy on work top, dirty oven, bathrooms had a lick and a promise, one set of curtains in the whole of the property and they where hanging off the rail all hooks broken and missing, rugs where filthy, the floors where disgusting our grandchild had black feet and we had no mop so could not clean, windows not cleaned, door knob to front room came off in hand, grass had not been cut and BBQ had not been emptied and the small courtyard had not been swept and full of weeds. Also we were expecting clean bedding and towels the following Saturday as previous holiday accommodations had done so, it did not arrive. The plus was really good kitchen utensils and amazing hot water. The owners had a approx year to get the property up to standard due to covid , maintained and painted throughout nothing had been done. We received an email please leave the cottage as you found it but we emptied the BBQ, cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen, hoovered the floors and removed bedding for the cleaners had we left it as we found it you would know be contacting us asking why we had left in such a dirty state we bought cleaning products so we could feel comfortable during our stay.
