What our customers say about their holidays
Eileen - Verified booking
We spent 3 weeks here in June and enjoyed the holiday.
The House was lovely, clean and comfortable, it supplied everything we needed â the walk in shower was excellent and the kitchen had everything anyone could need. It was truly a home from home. Caroline came to welcome us and offer advice of great places to eat and other than that the owners were not intrusive at all and the duck eggs were great!! If we had one [very] small complaint about the house itself, it was that the living room was a bit over-furnished, as another settee has been added since the photographs on the website which covered the full height window and meant opening that window was difficult due to having to lean over the settee to reach it, which considering the really high temperatures we had the first week was needed! However, our main problem was the enclosed field. We have a very enthusiastic German Shepherd and are conscious that he is not a nuisance to anyone, therefore the main thing we look for when renting a property is an enclosed garden, so the field was the main reason we rented this property. However, the grass was uncut and very high, which meant during the next 2 weeks when we had quite a lot of rain, when we took him out there, we ended up soaked to our knees. Also the steps up to it were uneven and difficult to negotiate as they are set into the back and curved in an arc with a steep soil gap at one side. The bracken on the bank was overhanging at least 2 steps and unavoidable when wet, so we couldnât really take advantage of that field. A small amount of maintenance, such as cutting the bracken back and mowing a path around the field would have made all the difference. As the outside of the house is a thoroughfare to the farm, so not enclosed and there were free range chickens wandering about, we couldnât allow him outside at all without supervision. Itâs a very small point and shouldnât put anyone off as people have commented that their dogs enjoyed this field, but they were there when grass would never reach that height. So it did spoil it a little for us â and him. Weâre very happy to recommend the house to everyone, just want them to be warned if they go in the height of summer, the field might be a problem.

The best cottage weâve ever stayed at!
Staying at Grants Cottage for a week was a dream. The cottage was clean and the decor was lovely. The internet was great, no connection issues and the cottage was always cozy. Bed was very comfortable and we slept great each night- like being at home! The cottage had everything you could think of there for you for and your stay- extra linen, spices, blankets, cleaning products. When we first arrived it was lovely to walk into milk in the fridge, cups at the ready for a hot drink, and some Scottish shortbread! Very homely. The view of the stars on a clear night from the hot tub and the porch is breathtaking. And the location of the cottage is quiet and secluded, and you can hear the river bubbling when sitting outside. So relaxing! The owners were so accommodating and answered any questions we had. The information left inside the cottage and their suggestions pointed us towards some great places to eat and walks with stunning views. We were unlucky enough to have car issues the day before we left, and they were quick to help us out and allow us some extra time when leaving the next day. Can not thank them enough! Even though we didnât bring our dog, the cottage had blankets and cushions there for the dog to sit cozy with you on the porch. Could tell our little guy would have loved it here too. All in all a prefect holiday, in amazing accommodation in one of the most stunning parts of Scotland.

My friend and myself had a fabulous time at Grant Cottage.
Spotlessly clean throughout, maximum comfort and just a beautiful place to unwind. I have to say though, the photos do not do this place justice at all, I mean on the photos the place looks great and it was just what I was looking for but to get there and see all the little touches around the place to make it feel like home from home was so lovely and welcoming. The cottage has more than enough information about the surrounding area from where to get food to amazing things to do and see. You might struggle to leave this place to do anything though because it has everything you need and more. The hot tub was spotless and just perfect. We got the chance to meet one of the owners, Caroline, who we had a lovely chat with and found out about a good walk to do and a lovely place for a bacon roll. There was nothing I could fault about this piece of heaven. Everything was as described and much much more!! I would highly recommend Grant Cottage to anyone and everyone and I really hope I can make it back someday. The village the cottage is in is one of the friendliest places in Scotland. Everyone we met was lovely. I canât thank Adrian and Caroline enough for the 4 days of perfection we had and for making the place so beautiful and inviting. I really didnât want to leave.

The area is outstanding.
The property is well situated for walks in the area. The peninsula is really worth a visit if youâve never been before. I could have easily stayed much longer. There is a lovely drive to Loch Shiel, if Iâd had time I would have walked to the loch from where that road ends. The view of the area from the top of this road was beautiful. Highlights were the warm welcome, the log burner was lit and the Christmas tree lights were on, candles lit too. After a long drive this was great. Kilcamb Lodge in Strontian. Superb food and location. The Oakwoods. The excellent log burner in the property. The very well equipped kitchen. The bath, with plenty of hot water. Comfortable seating in the lounge, this doesnât always happen I know. Sanna beach. Singing carols in the Ariundle Centre and Kates freshly made shortbread. The breakfast there is good too. Chatting with Adrian about how they arrived in this part of the world. Experiencing hail, snow, rain and the occasional glimpse of blue sky at Christmas. Last of all, but not least, the peace and quiet at Drimnatorran.

The house was great, spacious with a lot of facilities.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Milk and biscuits left for us but I would have preferred a bottle of water or prior warning that the tap water is from a spring/bore hole and was tea coloured and tasted unpleasant. The location was great - less than an hour to Fort William/Glen Nevis, about an hour to Mull and Glencoe, just over an hour to Sanna beach and Loch Moidart so a really good base for getting to a lot of places. The local area is really nice too, very close to some decent hills and lochs and has a small village shop for essentials. The upstairs bed was incredibly soft so hurt my back but the others were fine. It was grubby in places like it had been cleaned very quickly (inside freezer and oven were dirty but the bathrooms were clean). The oven door didn't close and the function symbols were gone so it was a guess on how to use it! Decent accomodation in a lovely area, in the middle of nowhere but not too isolated.
