What our customers say about their holidays
Mr Taylor - Verified booking
The Long Barn was just beautiful and spotless on our arrival. The welcome pack of biscuits, tea and coffee were a nice touch. It was spacious, and cosy at the same time. A perfect base for our stay. It was so private and quiet and peaceful. The kitchen was well equipped. Loads of storage, crockery and cutlery. In the bathrooms, Plenty of toilet rolls, hand soaps and towels provided. A washing machine, pegs and an outside line was brilliant. TV worked fine, radio was great as was Wi-Fi not that we needed it. Lovely seating in both front and back garden and a pets at home shop down the road for bird seed! Though be prepared, £4 of mealworms were gone in 30 minutes! Was wonderful to watch all the birds. I actually pottered about one morning before everyone got up in the early sunshine and dead headed the geraniums and watered them and refilled the birdbath then sat with a brew on the comfy chairs and enjoyed the tranquility! Berwick upon Tweed is not far in the car and you pass an M&S food and an Asda on the way! We ate at the Popping Chicken cafe which is near - great service and very dog friendly. The Sunday lunch was delicious. Fish and chips in the Hook Cafe in Seahouses were top notch and again dogs were welcomed in. Already planning a return stay and have recommended it to friends. Cocklawburnbeach is wonderful and clean. Car parking is on the road and was really busy when we went BUT the beach did not feel crowded and we had a wonderful time with the dogs there. It’s our favourite parT of the UK to visit and Long Barn was one of the best places we stayed. 5 adults, a 4 month old baby and 2 springer spaniels give it 10/10 !

Property itself was nice and in a good location. Would have stayed again had it not been for the company running the property. On arrival an alarm sounding every minute was noticed. Occupants who had stayed the previous dates had also noticed! We contacted the company straight away and after various back and forth speaking to the housekeeper (who was also aware of this issue prior to our arrival!) it was deemed to likely be an electrical issue however nobody was able to come and look at it on our first evening. Again various back and forth that we didn't feel safe staying in a property with an unknown electric issue at 8 months pregnant we were eventually relocated to a property in another town (at this time it was pitch black outside) we were given the incorrect code for the new property which was up unlit concrete steps. We were also assured someone would contact us for 10am the next morning with an update. Needless to say at 11am we were left chasing the company and still had no answers until late afternoon if we could get back to the initial property which we had actually booked. Staff on the phone agreed it was unacceptable and put on a complaint which I requested to be copied in on (and wasn't) was subsequently offered a small percentage off a future stay and told that (despite a large number of failings) they deemed our service acceptable. Will be avoiding this company in the future.

This is an excellent property enough room for 6 comfortably - though I noted a pull out under one if the twin beds so maybe a 3rd child in that room is possible too . Comfortable seating area and wood burner - with a full weeks supply of logs in the shed - we used it every day , Great kitchen area with enough pots pans and cutlery etc , we appreciated the welcome pack of tea and coffee. The beds were very comfortable we slept well . It benefits from 2 heating zones which meant we could keep upstairs cool for sleeping. Both front and rear gardens are private and fenced the bird feeders were well attended and we topped them up over the week . Easy parking for 2 vehicles was appreciated . The very new leisure centre in Berwick is under 5 minutes drive and with a main pool , kids pool , water slide/play zone and soft play is great for a family visit or you are just wanting to keep it - we used it most days . Exploring the walls and some quirky shops and various eateries was worthwhile . The walk to the pier end was excellent . In terms of the location the property is located between the main A1 and the East Coast main rail line so with windows open you can expect some back ground noise - with then shut we didn’t notice it . We came back from the week fully refreshed . We will certainly be revisiting this property

A very cosy little flat that was ideally placed close to the railway station for my arrival and only a short walk from the centre of town.
Although the metal stairway up to the flat was a bit of a trial for moving a heavy suitcase I was clearly aware of this before I booked. Inside, everything was as described with the addition of a little welcome basket of goodies. As we did have a few days when the weather was a bit cool it was nice to be able to turn on the heating to warm us up. If the weather had been worse there were plenty of books and games available to distract you whist you had to remain indoors. The only confusion arose when trying to work out the day for putting out rubbish for collection. A chart on the wall of the kitchen says that the day is Tuesday and then highlights all the Wednesdays. The welcome book mentions the need to put the rubbish bin out for the collection but did not say where to put it. Happily one of the very helpful neighbours sorted this all out for me, but it might be worthwhile clearing this up in the information pack. All in all a very nice stay, many thanks.

The house was in a quiet location, near to the beach and was very well equipped. The extras, including soap, washing up liquid etc were useful, especially when only staying for five days. The ‘human’ welcome pack was a very nice touch, and our labradoodle loved her ‘doggy’ welcome pack especially the treats & tennis ball. There were plenty of places nearby to visit, including Seahouses, Holy Island, Bamburgh, with beautiful beaches and scenery to see. Bamburgh beach & dunes are well worth a visit, especially for the dog to play in the dunes. We found a good choice of cafes and restaurants, in the places we visited; The Copper Kettle in Bamburgh & Limoncello restaurant in Berwick, Pilgrims Coffee House & Roastery on Holy Island, were all very nice & dog friendly, we also enjoyed a nice Chinese from the Royal Garden in Berwick. We will definitely return to this house and explore the area further.
