What our customers say about their holidays

Absolutely perfect!
We booked Barley Crush for a quiet getaway with our 2 dogs. We were not disappointed. The barn conversion was beautiful both inside and out, renovated to a high standard but kept beautifully traditional. The furnishings are good quality, tasteful and above all else very comfortable. The accommodation was surprisingly spacious, the pictures do not do it justice. It was warm and toasty on arrival, plentiful hot water and free logs for the woodburner. The kitchen is well eauipped. There is everything you could possibly want or need for a home from home stay. Many properties âallowâ dogs but few offer the welcome that this one does, towels, bowls, and even a lovely comfy dog bed provided!! The girls were delighted. The outside space is secure for all but the most determined escapees, pretty but natural and a wonderful place to sit with a morning coffee whilst listening to the birdsong, or with an evening glass of wine watching the sunset, and if you are lucky enough to have clear skies the stars are abundant and bright. Claudia was lovely to chat to, not at all intrusive, and lives nearby should you need anything. We and our dogs enjoyed walks directly from the door though fields and ancient woodland, along the river and up over the beautiful rugged Bodmin moor. If you are looking for a peaceful tranquil haven that is right off the beaten track but within easy driving distance of the beaches and busier attractions that this amazing county has to offer, you will love Barley Crush. We have stayed in many locations on and around Bodmin moor, and this is one of our favourites. We will definitely be back.

Beatiful setting and gardens The outdoor wooden room very comfy chairs great to sit in and read .
Very comfy bed.Overlong curtains caused an accident. .No comfortable chair To sit in to watch tv only wicker iron dining chairs covered by fluffy white sheepskins. After a day out I enjoy watching TV from a comfy chair and about 8 some nibbles.Idont.like watching TV from bed or eating snacks inbed but understand this is personal 7 sheepskins in an area you approximately 35 ft.by 10 feet to accommodate sleeping area dining and cooking including sidetables bookcase and bedside tables so small.Despite leaving switch on longer no water sufficiently hot to wash greasy dishes kept running cold as it did in bathroom sink.3 cupboards of China one narrow cupboard for food The shoser came apart on day 3 when I tried to cleansoap dish.slide doordoes not slide so water fromShower gets through. quite a space.storage.smallfridge although room for a taller one.Food storage difficult for 7 days yet alone nine. Cooking a faff as no hob or oven set up apart from microwave oven which was not cooking through properly have to set up equipment and store back. Again personal choice I'd provide Cornish scones from post office in pack rather than Lidle nationwide ones.A welcome binder would be really useful. Fresh flowers all around in garden but about five poor plastic plants in barn. Clothes washing difficult had to boil kettle for dishes and clothes couldnot find basket to carry clothes to line.

We really enjoyed the location and the facilities.
Lovely friendly welcome from Kirsty and John and felt we could ask if we needed anything. Fantastic touches with dog bowl, poo bags and treats as well as Milk, yummy scones, jam and cream! A unique location which added to our experience. It wouldnât suit all, but we loved it. It is one of the few places we have been which we would love to go back to. Loved visiting lots of beaches and exploring. We found The cabin very dog friendly and were pleased that the dogs were able to stretch their legs just outside the cabin not always on leads, which always makes life a little easier! Kirsty and John are developing the site which it would have been nice to know before hand, but the quality of the cabins and thicknesss of the windows meant very little noise and also the worker on site we found was very considerate. Itâs such a lovely location- we are not surprising they are adding another cabin! We took dressing gowns to walk to and from the hot tub, which I would highly recommend on chilly days/ evenings! Also a torch is required when wandering to the hot tub at night.

My husband & I had the most wonderful stay at The Coach House even though the weather was on the damp side.
It is located at the end of a pretty lane/drive which was a mass of bluebells, dry stone walls covered in mosses, with rabbits & squirrels running freely. This property is extremely well equipped & has been well thought out to maximise the space & comfort of those staying. The cleanliness was outstanding, all the furnishings & equipment are of a high standard. Everything is tastefully put together, no add hock / second best here ! The little patio is a delight to sit out for that coffee or glass of something, & listen to the birds singing ( there is some traffic noise, but nothing can be done about that ). The owner is friendly, a mine of knowledge & only to happy to help in anyway ( he also lives next door, which is convenient should there be any problems ). On arrival, he had laid out delicious pastries to take with our tea. There really wasnât anything that was too much trouble, he really cared we enjoyed our stay ! There were plenty of DVDs, games, puzzles, books, & the Wifi was excellent . Highly recommend this property !

If you want to take a holiday away from the hustle and bustle of life, then you could do a lot worse than pick Barley Crush Cottage.
It's a lovely place in a beautiful quiet location on Bodmin Moor. Do take note of the hosts comments about the track up to the property, you do need to take it very steady, but it's well worth it. The directions given to find Barley Crush are good, but a bit of advice if you're primarily using satnav. It's best to put in the name of the farm the cottage is on instead of its postcode. This is because the postcode directs you to another farm nearby. If you're able drag yourself out of the cosy environment you can create, do take a look outside if a clear evening, because with the lack of light pollution the night sky is so beautiful. The hosts Claudia and Ben make a great effort to ensure your stay is a great experience as the cottage is extremely well equipped and comfortable. There's also some nice goodies provided for you to enjoy on arrival. It was a really enjoyable stay and highly recommended.
