  Hillside is a lovely property. The owners have seamlessly blended the old and new to create a spacious environment for 8-10 persons, ideal for family gatherings such as our own visit. It is where 'old country vicarage' meets 'designer kitchen'. The bathrooms are all modern, with the wet room very handy for surfers, walkers etc. The living and dining space is well appointed with a large dining table and chairs, with the living room space containing a mixture of sofas and easy chairs. Ours was a winter stay and therefore we did not take advantage of the outdoor spaces but there is adequate patio space for all of your guests with outdoor furniture and BBQ space. NB. as the name implies, the rear of the property is terraced as it is on the side of a hill. The pictures in the advert for this property are very accurate. I would make people aware of the following. Access to the main entrance to the property is via 10 steps, you would still need to climb five steps if you were to take the long route around to the back door. Therefore, this might not be suitable for persons with different abilities. However, if this is not too challenging, then the good news is that one of the double bedrooms is on the ground floor, as is the wet room shower complete with wash hand basin and WC. If visiting in Winter, then the dual air source heat pumps keep the property lovely and warm with a mixture of radiators and underfloor heating. Each room has its own temperature control. We didn't touch these as they we set just right. Plenty of cooking equipment and more than ample numbers of crockery, glasses and silverware, so some can be in the dishwasher and there is still plenty more to use. Not all visitors might be like us, country dwellers. The short walk to the village is along a narrow road, some of this has no street lighting. Would recommend you bring a good torch, spare batteries and also at least one person in your group to wear a Hi-Viz vest. It really does help drivers see you. Can thoroughly recommend the Manor Inn for pub classics and Sunday Carvery or just for drinks and the big football matches if that's your thing. For something a little bit special, try the New Coast Kitchen. Brunch in the mornings and fine dining in the evening. Superb. Hillside was everything we were looking for to accommodate grandparents, parents and teenagers.

  Absolutely fabulous holiday cottage. Large, with plenty of space for the up to 6 guests it can accommodate. VERY clean and VERY comfortable. Great enclosed garden for dogs, although if you have a small dog just keep an eye on them when they go between the house and garden. Even with wire strung under the 5 bar gate they could still slip through. But honestly...that is the ONLY slightly negative thing I can find to say about The Anchorage. They take their Covid responsibilities seriously and we did not feel at all compromised. Really quiet area but only 1/4-1/2 a mile from Putsborough beach either over fields or by car and which is dog friendly and like the property, very clean and has excellent toilet and lovely cafe facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and can not wait to revisit The Anchorage in September, fingers crossed with family this time! Thank you Rob for a great cottage and holiday.

  Beach cottage is fantastic. Bright, clean and two mins walk from stunning Croyde Beach. Croyde village only a 10 min walk away with local shops and lovely restaurants too. Recommend Hobbs Bistro & Blue Grove. Both require booking in advance - in fact I think most restaurants do these days, especially the popular ones! Then there is the amazing Biffens Kitchen, - street food, serving amazing bagel breakfasts & some evenings an evening treat too. They change their themed menu weekly. They are on a campsite (walk-ins allowed) down the road - turn right out of Beach Cottage & walk 5/6mins - a sign will be out in the small lane on right. Beautiful coastal walks on right from doorstep - try Baggy Point circular, if you don't mind open cliff edge walks! Within 40 mins drive so many fab North Devon coastal towns/villages/walks. Totally recommend.

  Lovely property, very spacious, perfectly equipped with just the right amount of crockery and kitchen utensils for example. Very useful outhouse for storing muddy boots without entering the house (great for our labrador!) and super practical entrance/kitchen/luandry set-up. Great touches like welcoming hot-cross buns with clotted cream and a polite amount of perishables made available to tenants such as loo paper, dishwasher tabs, fire-lighters etc. The hot water shower outside also massively appreciated after April surfing at Putsborough Sands! Rob Tucker, the owner was also very friendly and helpful without being "ever-present".

  It was our first family trip to Croyde Bay, Devon, and this beautiful, spacious house did not disappoint. We are a family of 5 adults and two dogs and there was plenty of room for everyone to come together for family time or have their own space. The dogs had the time of their lives exploring the beautiful back garden and relaxing in their own doggie room. The house is well equipped and under 10 minutes walk away from the local shops and 20 minutes from Croyde Bay beach. Thank you for having us and we hope to return one day.
