What our customers say about their holidays

Such a lovely, clean, cosy cottage!
We were welcomed by the owner on arrival and we knew that they were always available if needed, but they left us to enjoy our holiday in peace. Although we were staying during the week of Storm Dennis, the cottage was always warm and cosy, with an extra radiator and electric fan heater available if necessary. The shower worked well - nice and clean and with ample supplies of hot water. The little kitchen had all we needed and we also could have used a washing machine in the adjoining workshop if we had so wished. We loved the beams and character of this cottage and felt totally at home and at ease from the start. The bed was very comfortable and clean, with a really snuggly duvet and soft, fluffy pillows. Outside, there is a good sized back lawn and garden, shared with the other cottage, which I imagine will be a lovely sun trap in the summer and which was perfect for walking our dog first thing in the morning. As a base for exploring Wiltshire, this was the perfect place to stay and Urchfont itself is absolutely gorgeous - all red brick and thatch, with a village pub and duck pond - idyllic! We would certainly recommend The Pottery for a relaxing and romantic holiday.

This was a lovely cottage in rural Wiltshire.
Great base for exploring the Cotswolds and ancient historical sites. The owners were very helpful and available throughout the stay. The cottage stays nice and cool under the tree canopy and the Milky Way can be seen on a clear night. There were many little woodland creatures and even a green woodpecker, vole and wood mouse rustled in the garden. Only a couple of thoughts to make it great for dogs would perhaps be a small closing gate on the back garden to enclose little rascals like mine in so that they canât escape to the road. I had to keep my runaway on his lead. Plus just a thought to swap the tub chair for a squishier chair. I suffer with health problems and had a bit of body pain from sitting in this chair. So a squishier chair would add more comfort to the stay. Maybe a couple more mugs too just to make it a really relaxing holiday as the mugs run out quickly so more washing up to do. I know itâs lazy but itâs a holiday! I saw an iron but didnât find an ironing board. Perhaps a couple more glasses too tumbler style. But it was very pleasant. Very peaceful location, pretty village and very pleasant stay.

Nice house but let down by a few things, lounge window broken, this should have been noticed by the cleaner but they had obviously not cleaned the window sill for awhile as it was covered in dead flies.
House sleeps 10 but only enough suitable seats in lounge for 3/4, I would never expect to have to sit on beanbags in the main lounge but thatâs what you get. There is another sofa in the study which could easily be moved into lounge. Kitchen well equipped but the majority of the plates were chipped and should be thrown away as unhygienic. The bedroom with on suite was nice but there is a full length glass panel between the bedroom and bathroom so no privacy when using the toilet, glass could easily be frosted. The grounds are very large with a stream which the children loved, itâs a pity that the current owners just cut the lawns as there is evidence of what must have been flower beds but are overgrown with weeds and nettles, there are also numerous fruit trees but donât seem to be cared for. The childâs place house in the garden should be removed or replaced as dangerous. We did enjoy the daily visits from the deer to the garden though.

Wow, what a property!
We came to valley house to spend time together as a family. 5 adults, a teenager, 2 children and the dog. We were welcomed into a warm and well presented home. Every tiny thing had been thought of. The welcome basket was out standing and so very generous. The home was clean and tidy, and felt like a home. We explored the home and the grounds and every one in the party said how beautiful it all was. We found new things to explore each time. We spent evenings In the hot tub watching the stars. The robes to use for the hot tub, what a great idea. The beds we all so comfortable, with lovely duvets and pillows. The rooms large and spacious and well decorated. The garden is well kept and maintained at such a high standard. So many places to visit in the area and every one so kind and welcoming We would love to return very soon. And we highly recommend this holiday home to every one and any one. Thank you for the best holiday.

We chose the property because of it's location, we wanted to explore the prehistoric landscape of Wiltshire and this was just about equidistant between the two main sites at Stonehenge and Avebury, but wow what a choice we made! The cottage surpassed all expectations, it was beautifully decorated with a tasteful mix of modern and antique. The kitchen was a real cook's kitchen, it wanted for nothing; the showers were generous and the beds supremely comfortable. We had the added benefit of glorious weather, so spent much of our time in the delightful cottage garden, with nothing but the odd tractor and the bees to disturb us. My only regret the weather was too warm to snuggle up in front of the fire or have a soak in that sumptuous bath....we will have to come back for a winter break for that! PS the quality of the welcome pack was outstanding, probably the best we've ever had in 40 or so years of self-catering holidays.
