What our customers say about their holidays

Good location.
It's available on apple maps for an easy find. You can approach from sowerby bridge too if you're used to country lanes, it was no problem for us, you may have to let others go first when it gets narrow though. Keys are in a lock by the last door you see, we thought they'd be by the gate, so we had to call owner to tell us where they are. that was our only issue, if we can call it that :) Location is great, the moorland is across the road from you or you can go through the memorial park, but you can also drive the other direction (not sowerby bridge) for a minute or walk for 5 minutes and you'll find moorland entrance on your right. Plenty of paths to go around. Sowerby bridge town center is only a 7 minute drive away and that's at rush hour. lidl and tesco, quite a few takeaways and cafes, pubs. A pub that seemed closed most of the time can be seen from the garden. But then, there's another pub going the other way not sowerby bridge, probably a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute drive. And then another one. Just look up google. Cottage very well featured, probably the cleanest we've been to, ever! Very modern, all you need, heating, clean bathroom, products as well and even coffee and tea. Eggs for a welcome gift and fruits, thank you, there's chicken roaming freely in the yard so careful if you have a dog, keep it on a lead. Also that means eggs are free range, great gift! Easy to walk around the small hamlet, quite a few loops if you need to walk and you want to stay dry. We had a couple of rainy days, so we didnt go much on the moors because our little shihtzu would get too messy and wet, so we did various loops on the country lanes around the cottage. so if your dog needs running and space, just cross the road. apart from the moors, there's also a green area like a park. access from the memorial park or a path nearby, quite long and wide, entertainment for kids too. We only met the owner once, one of them was away, the other works very long shifts. Very friendly lady, they have two dogs, labs, also friendly, but they're not around much. There's no washing machine, but this place has one bedroom and it's for singles or couples, so chances are you won't travel with five suitcases :) i believe a washing machine would be more suitable if you travel with a big family. So once again, that's not a problem, but some people may need to know that. TV in the living room, as well as the bedroom. Comfy recliner sofa. WiFi works very fast as well, yet reception in Norland is not great. so you'll need the wifi. its the only place we've ever been to that my girlfriend said "this is clean to my standards". Owners who thought about everything. We even had tea and coffee, cling film, sauces, shampoo, you name it. We brought our own we didn't know that, but you get hte point. THere's a poo bin right by the door, as you look round the corner. It's small and extremely convenient, again, they thought about everything! parking for 2 cars right in front, behind electric gates so safe parking! not sure where to leave the bins though, it says leave bags in the bins there. you may want to ask if it gets full, we didn't need to take it out , but just in case. While we usually like to go different places and try out different villages for our holidays, this is the one we'll most likely get back to.

The owners have considered to provide all the amenities we needed for a very pleasant stay in this barn conversion.
The furnishings are in good taste, and very comfortable, for instance, a La-Z-Boy type sofa in the living room area, so we could relax with feet up in comfort & watch evening TV including Netflix, etc. All the amenities and furnishings are high quality, including a Dyson cooling fan, essential during this period of hot weather. The kitchen area is well stocked and efficient. We appreciated the thoughtful welcome package. The walls display paintings and interesting photos of the farm in yesteryear. The contemporary bathroom has a walk in shower with plenty hot water. The whole farm property is so attractive that we were reluctant to go anywhere else in order to take advantage of this idyllic spot. Beautiful flowering gardens and meadows surround the farm adding to our pleasant alfresco dining. Who wouldnât love this outlook of colourful peonies, lupins, shrubs, and wildflower meadows? We also enjoyed walking the moorland trails around the property and historic hillside village. The local hills and valleys are places of extreme natural beauty, often used for cinematic locations. The surrounding area is full of historic interesting places to visit, for instance, Shibden Hall, the home of Ann Lister (Gentleman Jack) and Haworth, home of the Brontë sisters. The thoughtful welcome package provides brochures of all the attractions. The friendly owners were attentive when needed, though never intrusive to our privacy. We loved the inquisitive dogs who enjoyed our company, obediently leaving when asked. All in all, we had a wonderful stay, and would definitely return.

This is a lovely cottage situated in Holmfirth next to local walks in the woods with a few amenities (takeaways, bars and a coop) all within walking distance.
A short drive away to Holmfirth village and several walks that are suitable for off lead walking with the dogs. The property is as listed, furnishings are modern and the property is clean. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for anyone wanting to use the cottage as a base for exploring the Peak District. We are only giving it a 4 star for reasons related to the garden that wonât be relevant to all guests. First we have 2 dogs and we usually like to relax in the garden with them with a few drinks after a day out walking. The garden in this property is very small at the rear of the property with a fence and locked gates either side to the neighbouring properties (I assume this is for access due to the terraced nature of the properties which back onto a high wall). The garden has fake grass and isnât really a place we felt we could relax in. It was really only suitable to let the dogs out for a quick morning business as the neighbourâs rottweiler would growl and snarl at our dogs through the fence. I donât blame the rottweiler, they are only doing a good job of guarding their territory but it was a bit intimidating for my two boxers. If the garden situation isnât a concern for other guests then Iâd definitely recommend the property.

We had a very comfortable and relaxing time at the barn.
The accommodation was very clean and well presented. We did quite a lot of cooking and found the kitchen as well equipped as you need for 2 people. There were some basic provisions supplied by the owners which is always a nice touch. The 50inch smart TV has all the apps you need and the smaller tv in the bedroom is nice if you're a tv fan like me. The barn was always warm and there was plenty of hot water. Plenty of off road parking space and a great field to walk your dogs around for bedtime and morning wee's. The barn is very convenient for Norland Moor which is a short walk away. We had fun just walking around the criss cross of country roads and paths. We were lucky enough to see some lambs being born on one of our walks. The drive down the hill to Sowerby Bridge is twisty and narrow (single file) in places. We just took it slow and invariably the local drivers gave way to the tourist's. The owners were very friendly and wanted to know if everything was OK. They seem like a busy couple but are very discreet and leave you to enjoy your stay. I would definitely recommend and would return.

We stayed in this lovely little terrace for 2 nights.
On arrival it wasn't too hard to find. Parking is just on the road outside of the property. The first thing we noticed when we opened the door unfortunately was a very strong smell of damp and wet dog. For some reason this smell was only downstairs in the property where as upstairs smelt quite pleasant. Felt rather uncomfortable as I have a very sensitive nose. So didn't cook anything in the property and took food upstairs to eat as I couldn't bare the smell. We bought a can on dog smell deodorising spray with us and even went to a local shop and bought a candle and left the downstairs window open throughout our stay but the smell did not subside. I'm not sure whether we got unlucky maybe from the previous people who visited but I can honestly say this put a huge downer on our stay as the weather was awful and we couldn't go out much. The area itself was lovely and there was a lovely burger restaurant and barkery in Holmfirth and we visited the local reservoir with our dogs which was beautiful.
