What our customers say about their holidays

This is a beautiful small cottage situated in a glorious setting with partial views out to sea across to Robin Hoods Bay from the kitchen and lovely moorland views from the main living area.
The cottage is well fitted out and provides opportunity for eating in if you donât want to drive. There are wonderful walks from your door step and opportunities for exploring this beautiful area of North Yorkshire. The owners are very responsive to issues as and when they occur and communication was easy. It is worth noting that the cottage is isolated and the long drive from the main road is single lane with the last 900 metres being an extremely narrow bridle way with very few opportunities for passing. In wet weather the side verges are extremely soft making pulling off the road not an good option. Unless you are confident in rural reversing on a restricted road then this cottage may give you a problem especially in the busier summer months when there will be more visitors. If it wasnât for the access to the property I would rec this without hesitation to anyone who loves the idea of rural isolation in comfort.

Sykes are aware of our dispute with Cottage Anton.
We left on Thursday because the host was unable to address our problems. We were offered a refund if we left early but so far we have only received a partial refund. During our state, we had no hot water which made it very uncomfortable when we showered. In addition, the towel rail in the bathroom was not working. The bedding was awful with the pillows being thin and very lumpy meaning that my wife ended up with numb ears. The duvet wasnât big enough for the bed. The underfloor heating was lovely and the property itself is absolutely beautiful. The problem was the plumbing. I believe the host did try to engage your plumber but was unsuccessful. Itâs horrible when youâre in a property surrounded by snow and you cannot have a lovely hot shower and then dry with lovely warm towels. Sykes are aware of our dispute and we expect them to get the matter resolved.

A fabulous week in a beautifully decorated cottage in a beautiful area.
The cottage was very comfortable especially the beds, we all slept very well, especially after days spent walking quite a few miles rediscovering old Lead Mines and discovering others. A well equipped kitchen, a good sized fridge/freezer a bonus as we cooked every evening except one. The lovely hot water was also very welcome, although we were a bit cold in the evenings as the cottage takes time to warm up even with the heating settings turned up, however it was quite a cold week and we managed. If I could just make one suggestion it would be to put some blinds/curtains in the kitchen this would make for more cosiness and privacy. May we recommend The Red Lion, Langthwaite, Raby Castle, White Scar Caves, Reeth Swaledale Museum and Keld Heritage/Resource Centre and Farm Tea Room as excellent places to stop off and/or visit.

The cottage was clean and the bedding was gorgeous but that's the only thing ...
The cottage was clean and the bedding was gorgeous but that's the only thing that I can say on the plus side the single sofa chair is the most uncomfortable chair I have ever sat in and the two seater sofa was tiny my husband likes to lounge at night but this was not big enough and hes only 5ft2inch as for the dining room chairs i sat on one and my bottom nearly hit the floor plus we were so cold we ended up coming home early on Wednesday cutting our holiday short because the only place we could get warm was in bed i had thought i would have a warming bath but the water runs that slow it would have taken for ever to fill the bath all in all a very disappointing holiday

Owners most welcoming and informative.
Stunning location, rural and peaceful. Great for walking and cycling. At peace with the world. Storage for bicycles and plenty of space around the cottage. Cottage was well equipped and a high standard. Perhaps starting to age with little things like the shower door leaking. Highly recommend Ravenscar tea rooms, short drive or 2 mile walk away. Considering in all the literature mentions COVID deep cleaning, the cottage didnât feel or visibly see the benefits of a deep clean. Rugs were grumpy and sofa was in need of a clean. Noting early departure of 9 am and removing bed linen and towels all before 9 am wasnât relaxing.
