What our customers say about their holidays
J - Verified booking
We found dolphins leap easily and arrived after dark.
Follow the website instructions (take right fork on old lyme hill), then after the last street light on the right it is 5 properties further up on the left. Our cars headlights picked up the dolphins leap sign on the front garden retaining wall easily. My partner has worked in the cleaning industry for 30 years and specialises in finding important areas which havent been cleaned. There are none at dolphins leap. The welcome pack is generous, best i've ever had and even included treats for our dog. The bungalow itself has central heating and a log burner. We visited in November and did not need to light the fire as the main central heating kept us warm, even in the conservatory, which has sea views. It is one of the best rental properties i have used. Theres a TV and dvd player (we didnt use them as we dont go on holiday to watch TV), plenty of games, books, local maps and even a pool/snooker table. Charmouth beach is walkable which our dog loved. It is on a hill, however the gradient on the left fork of old lyme hill is shallower and it joins the right fork at the top, so we walked that way back to the property from the Royal Oak, which has great beer, food, allows dogs and is far more reasonably priced that the pubs in lyme regis. Lyme Regis itself is only a 10 minute drive and there are many other places of interest to visit all within 30 mins. Its a great base to explore the jurassic coast. We loved it and will return in the future

Such a lovely place to stay.
From the perfectly assembled welcome pack on arrival to the amazing location on the cliffs above Charmouth, we really couldn't fault our stay at Dolphins Leap, apart from not seeing any dolphins. The property is exactly as advertised and has a very secure garden for our four legged member of the family. The very large and comfortable conservatory offers amazing views of Charmouth and the coastline to the East. Two large bathrooms, which are well lit, are great for families. The large selection of books, board games, jigsaws and pool table are also a great bonus for when the weather isnât so good. Thereâs a lovely walk right outside the front door which takes you along the cliff tops towards Lyme Regis, although is rather steep going in places. We would definitely recommend the fish and chip shop in Charmouth, although placing your order on line early in the morning is recommended. The Royal Oak pub in Charmouth is very dog friendly but rather small so book your table early if you want to eat there. We would definitely recommend the Sunday lunch which was delicious. The staff are also very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, extra jugs of gravy supplied when asked for. The owner wasnât able to visit us during our stay but texted us to make sure everything was ok, which was nice. We would definitely look to stop here again at some point in the future.

We had the best time staying at Colt Park over the Christmas period.
We packed a bag of things we might need for the Christmas dinner but didnât need to bring a thing! The owners have thought of everything. The cottage was beautiful, clean and the owners had even decorated it for Christmas which was lovely. The hot tub was probably the best we have ever used, with great jets and perfect for relaxing after a day walking and exploring. Parking is great, large area off road to the side of property and secure. The garden was secure for the dog and we found a lovely walk from the cottage to the beachfront. I would say the location is perfect for quiet relaxing time away, Ulverston and the lakes are within reach by car however there is limited things to do in walking distance due to there being no pavements. This didnât affect us as we just hopped in the car to places but if you prefer to walk to places I wouldnât say this is the place for you. The owners had wonderful communication texting us before our arrival and during our arrival to make sure we was comfortable or if there was anything we needed. They left a lovely welcome hamper and some balls and blankets for the dog which was so kind. This is truly a wonderful cottage and place to stay. We will definitely be returning. Thanks so much x

Lovely property, well laid out, everything within Samphire is faultless.
It's comfortable and very clean. The only thing that let it down was the garden. The grass is patchy and overgrown in some areas. It lacks a bit of TLC. It would be have nice to have some comfortable seating for relaxing in the garden. The picnic table and metal chairs (which were meant for the front I think, but previous holidaymakers probably moved them) weren't comfortable enough to sit on if you wanted to sit for a while. There were two wooden chairs on the top garden, but they were absolutely covered in bird droppings. Although I can understand that it would be very difficult to keep on top of that. If the garden is tidied up a bit we would love to come back next year. We enjoyed walking Jack (the dog) on the beach, along the lane to the fields and along the path at the top of the sand dunes. We were very fortunate to have great weather all week. A quiet, relaxing and peaceful holiday. The owners did a fantastic job when they renovated Samphire.

Lovely place, cleaner than a lot of places I have stayed but I am so sorry I can't give a higher rating.
Parking was virtually impossible for one car never mind 2. It took me lots of to-ing and fro-ing to get the car onto the blocked paving. The track in front is access to other properties so you can't overhang onto it. Cleanliness and comfort are extremely important, and whilst I am happy with how well the bungalow is kept, although someone elses clothes were left in a drawer, I have had no sleep. What is going on with the bed? When you feel the mattress it feels lovely, but when you get into bed there's a distinct ridge down the centre which means you are fighting not to roll to the edge of the bed all night long regardless of which side you sleep. At a petite 5' this shouldn't be happening. I spent nights awake and days dozing on the sofa, so my holiday was in fact not a holiday at all. Yes, I tried anothre double bed but that was on a slant too. I am leaving for my second part of my 'holiday' feeling absolutely shattered. Pros: Clean Cons: Bed, parking
