  On arrival dinner plates and baking trays\roasting tins were dirty.

  Travel cot we had requested was broken and unable to be used. When we finally got through to the contact person of the property they weren't very helpful and were just insisting that they hadn't been informed that the travel cot had been requested. Eventually they did get another cot to us but it was quite a stressful time worrying about whether we would get a cot and what time it would arrive. Highchair was also dirty. The floor in the living room didn't appear to have been vacuumed as pistachio shells were on the floor under the dining table (not good for a crawling baby to find!!!). There were also extremely dried raisins and a pen under one of the sofas. We have never before arrived at a holiday home to find not one scrap of toilet paper. As we arrived there at 4pm and our online shopping wasn't arriving until between 5 and 6pm it was helpful especially with a children with us. The double bedroom upstairs is very small (same size as the single one opposite). It was squeeze to get down the side to get into bed especially as there is a set of drawers lengthways down one side which is pretty useless to use as there also isn't enough room to open them properly. This room also lacked a mirror. The property should not be listed as a 4 star property and it was noticeable that there wasn't a visitors book in the property. The only review was on a scrap of paper inside one of the folders with information in (obviously this was a positive review!). On our last morning we also didn't have any hot water. On a plus side the house was in a perfect location for us.

  This is a lovely old house.

  Very spacious and lounge and dining area. I'm sure it's very comfortable in summer but the heating of this room is problematic. It was freezing when the 1st lot of us arrived around 6pm and hadn't warmed up by the time I arrived later. It just was never warm enough in that room. The bedrooms were lovely and cosy tho. A few issues the main one being that the toilet roll was about to run out in both loos and although promised the next afternoon it didn't arrive till much later in the evening. (fortunately I had packed a fue rolls. We also weren't impressed with the big box containing. The Xmas tree left in the middle of the lounge. (also would have been nice if it had been erected). The lighting g in the kitchen area was dismal. We were an extended family with a toddler and our plan was to eat in each night. The light on the extracted fan is broken and the light from the overhead spotlights were useless. In order to see what we were cooking we had to bring a lamp from a bedroom. Despite this we had a lovely time but I think I would only recommend this property in summer when it's warmer and late light nights.

  We’ve had a wonderful week. The Carriage House is a home-from-home with all the space you could need and more! Brilliant location for the lovely beach walks, cafes, pubs & and restaurants. We had pizza from Hope and Anchor, it was very nice. Highly recommend Whitling House and Bistro 23 for cocktails! The Jolly Fisherman at Craster and the White Swan Inn at Warenford both serve excellent food. Paxton House, Dunstunburgh Castle, and the lovely beach walk along to The Ship Inn, at Low Newton by the Sea. Wallington was amazing! So many lovely places to visit and we were so lucky with the weather. What a great stylish and very comfortable house to return to. Great to have a parking space too. We would love to return. Thank you for the lovely welcoming hamper! Judith & John P.S Jaspers Bistro in Amble is amazing food – well worth it!

  We were extremely pleased with the interior of Hodgkin Hall and could not fault the accommodation apart from one of the blinds in the on-site bedroom was broken which we notified the owner about but by our day of departure had not been repaired.

  However the exterior was not well maintained, there were numerous Spiny Sowthistle weeds in the drive. The grass and hedges were overgrown in the small detached garden there were also a number of nettles as well. The only table in the detached garden was in a state of disrepair. On a number of occasions we contacted first Sykes and then on the advise of Sykes the owner. On four occasions we asked for an update regarding a replacement Table, by the time of our departure the Table had not been replaced. Because of the state of the grass and the Spiny Sowthistle weeds we decided for the safety of our grandchildren to cut the grass and remove the weeds ourselves. The other issue we had with the drive was a dried out bush scratched the wheel arch of one of the cars when it was being parked when we first arrived.

  We had a lovely stay.

  This is the second time we’ve stayed at Craster Reach. Compared to our last stay, the property wasn’t quite as clean as before, the floors didn’t appear to have been vaccinated very thoroughly (lots of dust and hair from previous visitors - I ran around with the hoover this on our first day and cleaned this all up) There was also a general smell of dog in the living room that we didn’t manage to clear during our stay despite the fabreeze air freshener being provided. The facilities are fantastic, beds are really comfortable and the views absolutely stunning and we loved the outdoor space at the front. The oven could probably do with a couple more shelves to make it more useful and the back garden would be nicer with a few planters, pots or plants.
