  Absolutely Fabulous in every way possible.

  Just back from a 10 day stay. Such a beautiful setting and very comfortable accommodation. The bed is amazing we had the best sleeps so comfortable but lovely with the door open to hear the birds early in the morning. We walked into Penzance for the ferry to the Isles of Scilly and also along the coast to Mousehole. Also walked to St Michaels Mount. The village has a great pub loved the Korev Cornish Lager and watching the cars negotiate the junction outside the pub. Haydee and John have an amazing barn and the welcome pack was also brilliant especially the apple juice from their orchards. We also had beautiful cornflowers and potatoes freshly harvested from the farm to enjoy. We loved our stay and want to return again soon. Thank you so much for one of the best holidays we have had.   This is a lovely cottage, with all of the home comforts to make our stay enjoyable.

  There were 2 issues, one of which was within the control of the owner and the other not. Parking was an problem. Shortly after arrival, we found a parking space right outside the cottage. However the 1st time we went out in the car, we lost it and were never able to regain it. This meant for the rest of the week the car was left in restricted parking areas, but fortunately we did not get a ticket! The other issue was there were areas, in particular under the beds, where the cleaning left a little to be desired - it looked a little rushed. The bedding and soft furnishings were impeccable, but the general cleaning left us wondering how much attention had been given to the current pandemic. Having said that, we all very much enjoyed our stay at Mackerel Sky.

  The chest of drawers in one of the first floor bedrooms wouldn’t open and the knobs were loose.

  The bolt to lock the bathroom door was broken. In the main loft room there was the front off of one drawer, the knob off of another, filthy carpets, a pair of someone’s pants clearly visible next to a set of drawers, someone’s makeup next to the dresser, and some packaging from someone’s poncho under the foldout bed. That to me says the most that was done in that room was the bedding was changed (hopefully). Generally cleanliness was pretty non existent and disappointing. There were cobwebs everywhere that clearly had been there for quite some time. We stayed in this cottage last year and we didn't experience this. I would say this needs addressing fast... cleaners have let you down massively.

  We were a bit worried about a previous report that it was not as clean as it could have been.

  We did not find this to be the case. The house was also very well appointed and lots of thought gone into the decor to make this an attractive and comfortable holiday home. I cannot think of any facility that was lacking. Beautiful bathroom. It was in a residential area, close to the station and all that Penzance has to offer. We parked in the road and did not use the car for the time we were there. Walked to Mousehole and took the stunning rail journey up to St Ives. Large living space for 5 people. Did not use sauna or laundry facilities at the back of the house, but they looked in good order. Can recommend if you don’t mind being away from the seafront.

  Our first visit to Penzance and it couldn’t have been better.

  We had a wonderfully relaxing break at Mackerel Sky. The house is comfortable, with plenty of space and well equipped. Everything you need for a great break. The location is perfect for exploring the area with great coastal walks. It was great to come back and make use of the sauna too. Also so convenient for walking into town and all the shops, pubs and restaurants. We were fortunate to get a parking space on the day we arrived and we didn’t move the car once…didn’t need to, so much to do within walking distance. The voucher for Mackerel Sky Seafood bar in Newlyn was most welcome and we had a fantastic meal there. All in all a super week. Thank you.
