What our customers say about their holidays

Teal Barn is a lovely place, in a gorgeous location but we were disappointed with a few things when we stayed.
Itâs a massive shame and we hate having to write this feedback because it is a beautiful place but it lacked massively on cleanliness and attention to detail. Our first issue would be the cleanliness of the place. When we first got there, we found a huge cobweb in front of the double doors that led to the outside seating area. Within the first 2 nights, my daughter had 5 spiders in her room which caused issues as she didnât want to sleep in there then. Which, I know you canât help spiders but when we pulled the bed out, thatâs when we found more and it was dusty and looked like it just hadnât been checked behind there. The shower head had mould on it and the pipe was mouldy also. The shower is so powerful though which was a massive good point. Loved how powerful it was. There was an awful smell that kept coming through the kitchen sink. In the main bedroom, the beam above our heads on the ceiling, you could see it was thick of dust. Again, attention to detail was missed on some things. We didnât find the place very comfortable either. Now, this is each to their own but it just wasnât for us. The sofas in the living room are not comfortable in our opinion. The cushions all move and slip off. The bed in the main room also wasnât to our liking either. You could feel every single spring in the mattress, the bed itself was very noisy so every time you moved, it made a noise, springs banged and the duvet covers were noisy. We would wake up aching and the noise disturbed our 7 month old son who shared the room with us in his travel cot. The single beds in the other room were a lot better though. Mattresses on them were a lot better. Me and my partner took turns sleeping in there with my daughter because she didnât want to sleep in there after finding all the spiders. One more thing, itâs quite noisy at night time. My daughter was freaked out by all the bangs that we could hear. I donât know what it was but there was banging throughout the night. We wonât be coming again and it is a shame because it genuinely is a beautiful place it just wasnât for us unfortunately. Main reasons for us not returning; we wasnât comfortable there and there isnât a secure place for your dogs. Although it says itâs dog friendly, itâs not at the same time because you canât let you dog free at all. You have to take your dog out on a lead at all times. Which we saw before we booked but it was more of an issue than we thought.

Weâve just stayed for a week at the olde house with family, (4 Adults, 2 children) and were delighted with our stay & choice of property.
The property is well equipt and had everything we required for our stay. The owners Jane & Peter were great and live close by which is a bonus. Friendly people and to hand but at the same time not intrusive. The Garden is fantastic and very well maintained. We enjoyed many evenings sat out on the patio admiring the garden. Great garden furniture & BBQ is available for cooking outdoors. The garden was also secure and our 8 month old Labrador also loved it. This property is situated in a small quiet village location so ideal if this is what you are looking for. As there were six of us staying we utilised the snug as a third bedroom which was fine as this left the lounge & dining area along with the patio via sliding doors from the lounge for living spaces. The bed in the snug is a high quality sofa bed that looked new and we both commented on how comfortable this was. To summarise this property ticked all of the boxes & we wouldnât hesitate recommending to others. Itâs a property we will look to stay at again in the future. Thanks Jane & Peter. Best regards, Kevin & family.

We just loved this cottage from the moment we walked through the door.
The comfortable lounge with the open fire and everything needed in a home from home. We particularly liked the older part of the building with so many original features. Just loved the enormous old fire place in the snug. The stairs and doors amazing, what stories they could tell. We slept very well and often late. We spent a lot of time sitting on the patio listening to the birdsong and watching the bees and butterflies busy in the borders and relaxing. The garden itself is enormous and extends a long way back. We recommend The Alma at Linton. You don't need to drive vast distances to find places to visit, Monmouth, Ross on Wye, Forest of Dean to name a few. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather for time of the year. Lots of wild daffodils everywhere. Thank you Jane and Peter for a lovely holiday. Thank you Jane for the Chinese lanterns and Cyclamen plants which are now in our garden in Lincolnshire.

The cottage is remote, but that is clearly explained.
Some of the roads were difficult in the rain. It could have been cleaner. We found quite a few pots and pans were dirty and the rolling pin was covered in blue mould. It was toasty and warm downstairs but none of the radiators in the bedrooms appeared to be working, so upstairs was cold. We pulled the duvets off the double beds to have another layer on the twin beds.. As others have mentioned, the double beds are very uncomfortable. We slept in the twin beds after the first night, as even sleeping on a duvet, the beds were still too uncomfortable to get a good nightâs rest. There is a pay phone in the property, so take some change (it doesnât take the new £1 coins though). There is also a lack of information for appliances, central heating, when to put the rubbish out etc which would have been helpful. Overall we had a quiet stay.

It was a really lovely cosy cottage feeling in a rural location, great for walking (although beware of the hilly nature of the location) .
the lounge is a really nice place to chill out if the rain sets in. All facilities were of a good standard and necessary cooking equipment was provided. All in all a lovely stay and would definitely return. Great facility in the car charging point and will be more necessary in the future for all properties. A couple of points, the double bed in the larger bedroom was very lumpy and uncomfortable due I think to the age, my wife did not sleep well due to this. The other bedrooms seem to have more comfortable mattresses. Also beware of the some low door heights. The games room does not fit the expectation, because the floor is on a slope so itâs difficult to play table tennis and thatâs about the only game in there, itâs not part of the house but in the shed and is not very inviting.
