  A fantastic stay in a beautiful, homely cottage… We loved our 5-night stay at The Bottling Shed and would highly recommended for your next mini break.

  Perfectly located, in peaceful surroundings, around 5 minutes from Matlock and Matlock Bath. The countryside views were wonderful and the welcome treats were much appreciated. The inside of the cottage was open plan and very cosy complete with log burner and central heating. The seasonal Christmas decorations were a lovely touch. The private walled courtyard, complete with hot tub and patio area was a great place to relax. By car, we visited Bakewell and Haddon Hall which were under 20 minutes away. The beautiful Monsal trail with Chee Dale stepping stones are only 25 minutes away. We saw Ashbourne, Milldale village and Dovedale which were around 30 minutes away. Further afield, we got to Hope Valley within 40 minutes which includes Bamford Edge, Ladybower reservoir and Derwent Dam. There are two supermarkets only 5 minutes away by car (M&S and Sainsbury’s). We had some great food in the Peak District. We’d highly recommend Lovage in Bakewell, The Duncombe Arms in Ashbourne, The Bulls Head in Holymoorside and The Bluebell in South Wingfield. Matlock Bath has several fish and chip shops and The Seafood Cave & Grill. We also ate at The Fishpond while there. For brunch/lunch and a sweet treat, Butter Fingers in Matlock was amazing!   The hot tub wasn’t as clean as one would expect which was a little alarming.

  Some more pegs to hang wet clothes out would have been helpful. The bathroom needs some attention, especially the seal to the shower door. A mirror in all bedrooms would be useful. The crockery does not fit/stack into the dishwasher so ended up washing up. The cottage accommodates for 5 but only 4 dining chairs. There were 5 of us altogether but only 2 robes and one pair of slippers? This (in my opinion) was ‘high end’ in price so I expected a little more luxury. Some basic essentials for arrival would have been nice and we’ve experienced this at other places we’ve stayed. This was my only holiday this year with my two children. My friend joined us with her son. The children especially wished for a hot tub hence us choosing this cottage. The stay was lovely and we enjoyed it. Just a few things mentioned above that would have made it better. Good location and friendly neighbours. Bedding and towels nice. Good selection of leaflets with things to do and good games to use. Well equipped kitchen.

  3. It had more than everything we needed for a fantastic stay. It was clean, the bed was lovely and comfy and the wood burner added to the cosy feeling of the cottage. Location was good for walks into Matlock and Matlock Bath. The cottage was a bit cold when we got there but a quick phone call to the owners and the temperature was better (not particularly happy we couldn't control this ourselves and felt we weren't trusted to do so). The hot tub was the best we've ever used, (we have used lots!) big, lovely temperature, powerful jets and so sparkly clean. We used it a lot and it made our stay super relaxed. But if you want privacy this isn't the place for you. We were overlooked in the hot tub by both the neighbours, and the front of the house had nothing to stop people looking directly in to the front door and the big window of the living room unless you shut the curtains, then it was dark. All it needed was net curtains or similar. Because of the lack of privacy, we would not come back to this property.

  Great property and location.

  The cottage was very clean and tidy and ready for our stay when we arrived. We used the jacuzzi every night which was a very nice change as we don't have one at home. We did a lot of walking and there are great places to explore around the cottage. Matlock Bath is a nice walk from the cottage and if we were there for longer we would have walked to Matlock instead of driving there. Our dog loved the stay and was ready for his bed every night and slept really well. There are 2 great pubs down the road (Greyhound and The Boat Inn), we preferred the Boat Inn as it's an old-worldy type of pub and the food there was fantastic. On our last night we ate at teh Tapas Restaurant which was nice but be prepared to wait for your food if you get the tapas deal. I had pizza so not much of a wait for me. I'd definitely go back to the cottage and am looking at booking again. I promise you won't be disappointed.

  3 Sunnyside Terrace was a beautiful base for us as a family of three.

  It was well equipped and had all the modern features you might wish for. The kitchen was especially equipped well. It was warm and cosy. The hot tub was a perfect addition to the stay. Our points of feedback is the tv/remote needs looking at, it skips if you press the buttons too quickly and is frustrating slow and remote is sometimes delayed. We felt the written ‘rules’ in both the bedrooms for checkout procedure was a little overkill. Asking us to clean out the fire for example made us feel we couldn’t enjoy a fire on our last night as we were worried it would still be warm on day of departure so we couldn’t clean it. Personally I would remove the lists from the bedrooms and just have one downstairs as a polite reminder. The location being at the top of a steep hill could be added on description to make that part clearer. We had a lovely stay and would recommend the property.
