What our customers say about their holidays
Paul - Verified booking
Great location and view over the Bay, 5 minutes walking distance from the train station with easy access to St Ives.
Before diving into a bit of detail I would like to say my family and I had a lovely holiday at the Lanyon and made some great memories. On booking there were no reviews as it was a new listing at the time so we took a risk and overall we were very happy. The walk to the nearest dog friendly beach takes you down an undulating coast path/track which is challenging, lots of steps and takes about 10 minutes once you cross the train track. But the reward once down on the beach is great, a very nice sandy beach and no restrictions for the dog. We stayed there for several hours on one of our days. Carbis bay is a lovely sandy beach but down a steep road. There is a hotel/bar where you can have a drink or two which was nice. The beach has restriction on the time dogs are allowed, I think 10am-6pm (but pls check) The house is big and spacious, but perhaps could do with some updating in the main bathroom and shower room. All works perfectly fine but just looked a little dated. No TV in three of the bedrooms, but as we were out and about most of the time not too much of an issue. Doors: a few of the interior doors did not open or close easily, you had to apply some force and this created a loud noise each time, not so much of a problem in the day, but at night was just not great. (easily fixed I am sure) The garden is a big space which is great for the dog, but the lawn needs cutting and grass needs some attention. Also need some better quality outside furniture, what is supplied seems very much like an after thought. Also a couple of sun loungers would be great. We liked the idea of the Wood burning hot tub in advance, but there is no wood supplied and the reality once there is it all seemed like a lot of effort. Would strongly recommend installing an electric hot tub in the future, as the view is great. We had two cars, one being a largish 4x4. The driveway to the house had an old cement post to one side of the entrance which was more of a hindrance/hazard and would recommend this be removed. The main sitting room/tv room is a nice large space with comfortable seating and open fire, I would recommend they remove the main painting opposite the TV as it depicts somebody being beheaded!, not great for young kids.. St Ives: Take the rain as parking in St Ives can be problematic, it is one stop on the train. We enjoyed Cintra as a fish/tapas type restaurant overlooking the harbour. Very fresh and tasty. I hope this helps, all in all the house and location worked great for us . (3 adults, 2 children (11 & 14) and a Cockapoo dog)

The property is much cliser to the caravan site than the pictures indicate.
This became an issue when we used the hot tub late at night and were shouted at snd called rude names from the caravan residents. We were merely talking and laughing in the hot tub. This must be a regular problem with this property as the site contacted the property owner who cane round to tell us off ! We did not argue and got out of the hot tub. She also advised that we should not be in the hot tub after 9pm and that although the property took 10 adults the hot tub only allowed 6. Neither the curfew nor the hot tub max were made clear in the booking information. If you book a property with a hot tub you expect to be able to use it when you choose. The ownerâs attitude was also unpleasant and she returned the following day - entered the back deck uninvited - and complained again and at length about the noise. She was patronising and this was unnecessary, spoiling the weekend. When you have paid £1800 for 2 nights in a property I think you should expect some privacy. It is a lovely house but we would not book it again and the restrictions and proximity to neighbouring properties should be made clear in the description.

A few things let this holiday down, firstly there was a building site next door, noise every day.
The king size beds are just singles linked together so there is a big lip where they join. Every shower in the place was leaking around the shower head. We did not feel welcome at all, we met the owner on the day of arrival, we chatted but she was very weary of us as we were a group of 25 year olds and one baby it did not make us feel welcome at all. Parking is another thing, there is only a gap just wide enuff to fit your car through, have to monouver to fit the 4 cars on. Two out of the 4 cars scraped every day as there was a big pothole at the end of the drive causing a lip wich could not be avoided. Then you had to drive over two manhole covers that are bent with the weight of cars going over them as there only pedestrian rated. We also felt there shoils of been a grass area somewhere around the house especially for any children that visit. Overall very disappointed for the cost of the hoilday.

Blown away with how amazing this property was! The owners, Sam and Oliver, were both lovely and had anticipated everything we could need. We loved the hot tub which was cleaned/maintained daily. We enjoyed the choice of board games that were available as well. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook any meal and the welcome gifts and card were a really thoughtful touch! There was lots of extras like the Bluetooth and light up bathroom mirror, Bluetooth kitchen speaker and much more which were all nice to use. The bed was very soft and comfortable and the fireplace was so cosy and easy to use for the cold nights. We really could not fault this property at all, from the location which is close to everything and to the cottage itself; we are looking forward to returning in the summer to make use of the swimming pool! Thank you Sam and Oliver for such a great stay!

Hi, family of 2 adults and 2 children.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house is in a great location as you well know. All of the goods inside are excellent quality but the main thing that lets the property down is the bifold doors. They have been misused and unfortunately are so hard to open we didnât bother most of the time. These would really need replacing. As the property is rented out many people are not educated on how to open and close them properly and they damage the rubber gaskets at the bottom. Thatâs exactly what has happened here and the tracks are rusty so they donât even slide anymore. There are doors that would be better suited to this and I would be happy to explain if you did ever consider changing them. Other than this we would definitely recommend the property and even consider returning in the future.
