What our customers say about their holidays

Centred in the middle of a farm, this lodge provides a peaceful getaway for couples or small families.
The owners who live on the farm were very friendly and welcoming, and are only a text away if you need anything. On the farm were plenty of sheep, a chicken coop, and even some goats and horses⦠in the middle of one of the fields is a small gated park for kiddies to play. The hot tub was a must for us at the end of the night watching the sunset and looking out onto the farm. There is also a built in bbq at the end of the drive and you are provided with fire wood etc, which we really enjoyed using. They do give you a welcome basket which we appreciated and more importantly they not only provided tea, coffee and sugar but a fresh pint of milk in the fridge! I would highly recommend buying the farmâs fresh eggs for during your stay or even to take home with you - we did both! The mattresses arenât overly comfortable but we expect this when staying in cabins, and the top bunk bed I wouldnât recommend for adults as it is a crawl space. Also, we werenât provided with a great variety of utensils (no chopping knives, only a bread knife, and no indoor tongs). They also only have 1 small frying pan, but a few medium boiling pans. Plenty of crockery, mugs and glasses, egg cups, and salt ânâ pepper shakers - ours were empty however. The heating was constantly on in the lodge (the heating dial didnât seem to work) so a lot of the time we had to turn all the radiators down or off, but they do provide a plug in air con, a fan, and an additional plug in heater if needed. Also the shower was great at the start (heat and pressure etc) however we did notice as more visitors arrived at site towards the end of the week⦠each time we used the the shower the heat would then fluctuate a lot between too hot and too cold. Whilst staying at the lodge we spent a day at Elan Valley Dams, we also travelled over to Hafren Forest and Borth Beach which was lovely! The roads around Rhayader are the most scenic and peaceful, most places we travelled to are >1hr away. The town of Rhayader itself is made up of a few cafes/pubs and some other independent businesses. There is a co-op or spar if you need to grab any essentials whilst staying here. We pre-booked a table at Triangle Inn on our last night which was a very small cottage pub serving great food including a stunning lamb shank!

Firstly, this property is absolutely beautiful and a lot of thought has been put in to make it comfortable.
We had a fantastic stay, the location is great for exploring and I would highly recommend to future bookers. There were only a couple of small recommendations I would make: some of the seating wasnât the most comfortable to sit on, especially outside so may some cushions for these. The sliding doors caused a small issue on the first day when one got stuck on the runner and they canât be opened properly from the inside as thereâs no decent handle. The only downside of the holiday was the fact that I contacted the spa operator the week before to book a full body massage for me and my partner. They didnât reply to any of my messages, despite having read them, and then when they finally responded (the day we arrived) they booked us for the wrong treatment which they only realised a few hours before it was due to take place. This was very disappointing and we decided not to go ahead with it, as it wasnât what we had asked for. I would suggest a bit more contact when booking these things in future.

We had an amazing little getaway in the "hobbit hut" / "teletubbie house" for my birthday (Derwen) The pictures of this property do not do it justice!
Finished to a very modern and high standard, with a functional kitchen that has the basic equipment required. Upon our arrival we were welcomed with a bottle of wine, welsh cakes, milk, eggs and steaming hot tub. The hot tub was definitely the highlight of our trip after alot of walking and sightseeing. Book in advance for a massage with Leah at the spa. A very relaxing experience Yes, the bench sofa isn't the most comfortable but I think it encourages you to go out and enjoy the welsh countryside. The hot water in the shower doesnt last as long as we are use to so have shorter showers. A very peaceful and quiet location. You can see for miles and on a clear night (we didn't get one) maybe see the stars. We will definitely be returning but instead will book the neighbouring hut (Onnen) which is more suited for couples. In responce to a previous review: no birds, no mice, a working fridge and no smoke or smell after cooking.

Fabulous place.
Exactly as described and really done to a high quality spec. The hot tub was hot on arrival and exactly what we needed when we arrived. The coordinates that were shared on another review we used to locate the cottage and they were spot on. Absolutely donât use the postcode, instructions or coordinates only! Our only slight feedback is the seating area which a few people have mentioned before. Great size and perfect for coffee but would suggest not so much for lounging. We went in February so evenings were about being indoors and cosy so noticed the seating then. Maybe a footstool (swapping the gorgeous coffee table) that could be pulled up against the sofa might help? Saying that Iâm sure in the summer with doors open, youâd be far less concerned and outside anyway. Brilliant stay and our children now want to live in âthe fairy houseâ. Thank you.

We stayed here for 7 nights in September and had a wonderfully quiet and relaxing time.
The cabin was ideal and we felt it included everything we needed for the week, and to my wife's delight the towels that were provided smelt great and were obviously home-laundered. We divided our time between local walks, the pubs and cafes of Rhayader, Elan Valley, sitting in the huge hot tub and sitting in the sun on the terrace watching the birds. We will probably go back next year as there is still a lot to see in the area. The owner Aled was a nice fella and would stop for a chat when servicing the hot tub. The walk into the centre of Rhayader takes about 40 minutes although we found parking was plentiful if you prefer to drive. There are a couple of small general stores, a few pubs and cafes, grocers, takeaways and a very nice butchers with great steak and lamb chops. Diolch Aled, and see you next year.
