What our customers say about their holidays

This was our first time visiting so did not know what to expect.
We have just returned home after spending 2 weeks at the Heathcliffe Lodge and we had the most wonderful time. Cliff was the perfect host and such a lovely guy. The Lodge was bigger than I thought it would be and it was stocked with everything you would need. Before travelling I had to call Cliff to get arrival details, and when I spoke with him he had so much time for me and gave me so much information on places to visit in the area during our stay. I had every intention of visiting them all, however although I did visit a few I found myself relaxing at the Lodge and just sitting outside overlooking the Cornfield which I found so peaceful and relaxing, just what I wanted from this holiday. Whilst I was chilling out sitting on the front porch my husband was spending time in the hot tub. The Heathcliffe Lodge had everything we were looking for. I also have to give special mention to Maxwell, Cliff's dog, who was just the sweetest, friendliest, most well trained dog you could imagine. I never thought a dog could make me laugh so much, he was absolutely adorable. He visited us every day just to say hello and make sure things were okay! I would also like to mention Philip, Cliff's co-worker who was also so friendly and helpful during our stay. Cliff also introduced us to his Llamas, Pygmy Goats and Rheas, so if you have kids they will love this. The town centre was only a few minutes away and as far as shopping goes has everything you will need, from all the usual High Street shops to Supermarkets, Restaurants and nice pubs to enjoy a bar lunch. At the end of our 2 weeks I would have gladly stayed for another week but could not as the Lodge was booked. So we thank Cliff so much for his help in making our stay so enjoyable, and we'll be back! Best wishes, Lyn and David

We stayed at the Beachcrest from 25/11/22 for one week for my husband's 65th birthday, our children and grandchildren also stayed with us.
The house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped for large families. There were plenty of pots and pans for cooking and a range oven, if you wanted to cook meals instead of eating out during your stay. The house is well located, only a 2 minute walk to the beach and a pleasant walk into Whitby town centre. There is also a hotel across the road, which has a bar and serves meals, if you do not fancy cooking, they also sell pizzas to take out. The owner had made the property very homely and there was a Christmas tree up when we arrived, he also left us complementary Tea, coffee, milk, and biscuits. There is a lovely garden, which if staying there during the summer months would be a lovely space to spend sunny afternoons. There is also a hot tub in the garden, which we did utilise during our stay, which was a nice extra touch. The only small negative comment I would make about this property was, it had a beautiful kitchen that as a family we spent a lot of family time in there and during the evenings it was not very private. There are 3 windows in the kitchen, and one is directly opposite the hotel, so people coming and going would constantly look straight in as the light was on. There was also no blind at the downstairs bathroom window. Apart from these 2 small things, the house was amazing and I would definitely recommend staying there. A beautiful home.

We had an excellent break in a fantastic property.
The owners were very welcoming as we arrived, taking time to show us around the property and give us tips on the local area. The property has recently been refurbished top to bottom and is fitted out to a really high standard. Not something we expected to find (or spend any time in!) but the hot tub was definitely a highlight for us all :-) As a group of five we really benefited from the communal space and being able to find our own space (the games/cinema room downstairs). More practical things; the washing machine, dishwasher, two showers, off road parking for two cars and really generous storage space downstairs really suited our group who were out and about on the North Yorks coast. It's a short and easy walk to the centre of Whitby (about 10-15 minutes) and even less to the beach. If you don't fancy venturing that far then the local pub is just a minute away and does a great Sunday roast :-) I would strongly recommend this property to any groups or larger families looking for a break in Whitby.

This was a great venue and location.
The lodge is one of two looking over open fields. Easily accessible from the main road but no traffic noise. The lodge is spacious and well maintained. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment and a lovely welcome basket provided. The hot tub for the lodge was well located and had optional privacy screens to use but not needed as privacy more than adequate. There is a BBQ which is shared between the two lodges and the owner provides coals on request. Nice bedding with sufficient pillows and towels provided although I would recommend to bring more for the hot tub. TVs in both bedrooms. WiFi was strong which was unexpected but welcome. Owner very knowledgable about the local area and provided lots of suggestions for activities, meals out etc. Utility room with washing machine, freezer, airer and ironing board. Shared games room with board games, pinball, fuss all and air hockey as well as croquet and football goal available. Would recommend unreservedly. We had a great weekend.

We managed to get in as a last minute new year getaway.
The property was lovely and really done to a very high standard - you can tell that the owner has really put a lot into this. It really was a home from home, even down to the kitchen utensils, lovely underfloor heating and utility essentials. Literally everything we could have wanted was right there. Up to date television in the front room with all apps required Netflix, Amazon Prime etc. All in all we had a lovely time away and wouldnât hesitate to recommend to friends and family. Hot tub was a massive added bonus - we felt very relaxed at the end of our stay! We every night in here overlooking the clear fields. Cliff the lodge owner was on hand to assist with any queries - I contacted him regarding key collection and also when we arrived - very easy to get hold of. His friendly dog Maxwell bounces around the farm too and sometimes appeared at the porch door, much to the delight of our 2 year old. Thank you for a lovely trip away and hope that we will be back!
