What our customers say about their holidays
Clare - Verified booking
This was our 2nd time staying at the property and we have just booked our 3rd stay.
House is homely and comfortable, the beds are amazing, I have asked where I can buy one of the duvets from as slept amazingly with it. The arms chairs and brown leather sofa are not the most comfortable, however they are acceptable- but you do sink down in them and slide a little. The oven had not been cleaned very well, there was fat at the bottom of the oven which smoked and smelt when we used it. Also it would help to leave cleaning products to clean the work surfaces and the yard, as this may encourage people to do it if available. Internet box could do with being on a shelf, it is currently on top of the shoe box, however it got knocked over getting coats or lifting the box lid and if placed on the floor the internet signal was poor. Outside yard was washed down when the dog had been out there, but I think the astroturf has urine soaked in, as one day it was fairly warm with the sun on it and it stunk, despite me washing the yard. It may be better without the Astroturf as it will be easier to clean and less likely to hold liquid. I was informed about there being staining on the main bedroom ceiling from a leak however we unfortunately had very heavy rain one night and woke to hear drip drip drip. An emergency repair was booked and later in the week we had heavy rain but no issue with a bedroom water feature. So fingers crossed all will be sorted until roof is replaced next month. Location of the house is brilliant, and parking for two cars is excellent (once you master the reverse into the drive) We have found some brilliant places to eat over the past two years (dog friendly) Rusty Shears off Flowergate The Yorkshire wraps are huge and tasty Dog even got treated to a portion of sausage by the staff Sherlocks - flowergate We found this place last year and it is still as good Carrot cake is amazing as are the scones Coffee is good and always hot Chapel on the hill (Brunswick st)- left card in the house We went on the first day and planned to go on our last day but it was shut. Staff are friendly and welcoming and the food was scrummy, with lots of choice. Fuzzy dog bakery (flowergate) Dream place for our dog, the owner makes a fuss of the dog and gives them a treat or 3. Lovely friendly shop, I was so pleased to see that they were still open. Beach and rock pools, weâd only used the beach on the west cliff side, however on our last day we followed the path to the left at the bottom of the abbey steps and followed the street down to the jetty and pier- from here there was plenty of sand areas and rock pools, will definitely explore this more next year. Pannet Park/ Whitby museum The park is nice and clean and good for children, we also found a community book library within the community garden. Museum is free for children or £8 for adults (12 months entry) it was interesting with lots of collections. I did leave our tickets in the house if anyone wants to use to gain entry (left with the leaflets in the dining room) Itâs official my heart is lost to Whitby

The accommodation as lovely as it is and in a great setting often felt like you were on a building site.
It is not made clear that the site is not yet completed and ongoing development continues to include tarmac surfacing to the main entrance, drilling and ongoing construction work. I had to request coat hangers as only 2 were in the wardrobe- the owner was prompt at providing lots more the following day. The seal in the shower was faulty so we were not able to use this, again I informed the owner of this. Lighting on the site is poor at night and the current lighting doesnât seem adequate, we arrived at night and really struggled navigating the lodge in the dark. It would also have been helpful to have bins closer to the lodges - the current arrangements are at the entrance gate. This site was great for accessing the park and ride service which is a 5 minute walk away. The lodges are well equipped and clean and it is nice that dogs are welcome. I would like to revisit when the site is fully complete - the views and scenery are stunning and from our lodge we could see Whitby Abbey a good base for a break near Whitby.

Bedroomâs very comfortable, communal spaces need some attention.
Too many sofas in lounge hides the beautiful fireplace, table in dining room far too big to actually sit round. Obviously the damp in the kitchen is a huge problem. The kitchen is too small for the house, no work surface space, so cooking Xmas lunch was a bit of a pain. We had plumbing issues with plug holes been blocked and a leaking loo, but someone came quickly. The âgardenâ and the fake grass is gross, with dog poo being left, and it looks dirty and shabby especially around the hot tub (why a hot tub in such a small shabby area?). The front needs attention, no kerbside appeal with rotting window sills, but saying all this we had a good time. Hope it gets some TLC soon as it could be an amazing place. Perhaps forfeit the front bedroom on the first floor and have as a second lounge and reduce number of guests by a couple. Parking not an issue, car park nearby.

Our stay at Apple barn cottage was lovely! Such a beautiful setting for my Mum's birthday. It is great that each bedroom has it's own bathroom and plenty of personal touches such as dressing gowns for each guest and a treat on arrival (we were lucky enough to get freshly baked scones). The hot tub is right outside the back door and always warm; it is lovely to be able to relax after a long day of exploring Whitby and the surrounding areas. The location is perfectly placed to visit some iconic attractions, such as the falling foss waterfalls and tearooms, Whitby Abbey, Robin Hood's bay and so on. There are leaflets within the property to give information about the surrounding areas and the cottage is a cosy and warm setting to return to with your family/friends. Julian welcomed us all on arrival, he and Julia are lovely hosts.

Destiny Rose is a lovely house to spend a holiday in.
I have stayed in lots of holiday homes and the kitchen equipment in this one is amazing, the owners have thought of absolutely everything. The beds were lovely and comfortable too. We did think that the 10 minutes to the town centre and beach was a bit underestimated. We had a walk into town on the first day and found it really hard going and the walk back up those hills was daunting so we had a taxi back. We were pleased to find the parking card for us to use and it came in very handy on several occasions. Perhaps you should list the fact that you offer this on your website because we found it by accident among the leaflets in the dining room. Overall we had a lovely stay at Destiny Rose it was a delightful property
