What our customers say about their holidays

Positives : Warm personal welcome extended by the owner (and those lovely dogs!
) âStarter-packâ of bread, butter, etc left in the large and extremely well-equipped kitchen. Cottage very clean. Plenty of towels supplied. Bed has a good, comfortable mattress. On return from the many chilly and damp/wet/windy days, it was good to be able to switch on the quickly effective radiators. And itâs true : the cottage really is just five minutesâ walk from the nearest beautiful beach (Carniven) â and as a bonus, the start of a coast path! Slightly less positive : First a warning â shower tray pretty slippery. No towel rails, no loo-roll holders, no hooks for (wet) coats by front door. There is a router in the cottage, but the wifi signal started to fluctuate before disappearing completely between 5pm and 6pm, reappearing very late at night. In warmer weather this wouldnât matter at all, of course, but on our first visit to Ireland, we hadnât realised just how cold, wet and windy it would be in late September, and just how many of these long(ish) light evenings we would therefore be spending indoors! These were our experiences ; but I imagine that all of these glitches and hitches will be quickly and easily remedied. Fethard village has all amenities, the people we met in the pub were amazingly friendly and welcoming, and all in all I would recommend this cottage as a good destination for a relaxing holiday.

We (2 adults, two teenagers and one child) stayed in Port Heron Lodge from Sunday 2nd to Wednesday 5th January 2022.
We were instantly bowled over by the really gorgeous, unique log cabin and by the welcome we received from our host Trisha. Trisha had gone to so much trouble prior to our arrival - it was beautifully prepared with Christmas decorations and lights inside and out; heating turned on and lovely and very kind touches of milk, bread, cake and wine left for us along with tea, coffee and sugar. A lovely start to our holiday! Trisha continued to check in with us by text every day to see if all was okay or if we needed anything. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this most beautiful lodge and in the tranquil surroundings of Lough Ree. So lovely to wake up to the beautiful view of the lake and the ducks! It was so peaceful at night and was the perfect wind-down place to stay after Christmas or we are sure at any time. All want to go back again! We could not rate the lodge, the reception, the care and kindness of and from the host highly enough. Thank you very much Trisha! Jacqueline

The locality was perfect for us as I love to walk the dog first thing in the morning and to a have a beach on your doorstep is amazing.
Also close to many tourist areas such as a Johnstown castle which even allowed dogs in their cafe. We enjoyed Hook lighthouse and the ferry across to Waterford return date reasonable atâ¬14. The living space is upstairs giving a splendid view over the countryside. The kitchen was better equipped than any cottage I have stayed in, even a coffee maker. Having a freezer was ideal fur ice blocks so we could use when going on picnics plus our dog food is frozen so made life so much easier The bed was very comfortable and shower hot and powerful. On arrival there were supplies for breakfast and lunch which was so kind even though the local shop gad anything you would need. The Indian take away was very nice. The only downside was that neither our apple or Samsung devices would connect to the internet so cost me to pay for data required but if you do not need internet the rest was perfect for the two if us and our Westie. Loads of space in the living space for the dog crate

We really enjoyed our time in this beautiful home!
The big windows were just brilliant. Lovely bright house, beautifully decorated. Could have spent hours just looking out at the views from those windows. Loved being able to see the lighthouse in the distance at night. The owner was lovely. The house was well stocked and very clean. *worth noting- there was no wifi and both of us on Vodafone had limited service (good outside on the lovely patio though where we often had breakfast, even in October) We actually ended up really enjoying this though, it was really refreshing, we switched off, picked up an RTÃ guide in the Londis in Roscarbery, plenty of films, and we enjoyed nights watching movies after days out exploring the beautiful beaches, villages and towns nearby. Also a nice fireplace! Thanks so much for a great stay, we definitely hope to be back!

When we arrived we were greeted by the owner Trisha, she was very friendly and showed us around and told us how to work heating etc.
There was milk, tea, coffee a bottle of wine and a cake left for us. The accommodation was spotless, tastefully decorated with top quality ornaments and paintings. If we needed anything Trisha was only on the other end of the phone. We had my 95 year old mother with us and the bathroom with the additional railings made it easier for her to get around. I would highly recommend this accommodation so much so we are looking at booking again next year.
