What our customers say about their holidays

There were positives and negatives to our three night stay.
We were a group of 11 female friends, in our 60's. I hope by providing constructive feedback this will help similar groups like ours; who have had this annual weekend together in self catering houses for the past 27 years. The positives are the downstairs areas are very spacious, warm and comfortable. The largest Reception Room is cosy, welcoming and an excellent base for drinks and games. The kitchen is extremely well equipped; a spacious dining area, we liked the garden and there was ample car parking. The property is very well located for NT properties and we really enjoyed visiting Hereford and The Fishermans Arms. All the beds were comfortable and the four ensuite rooms were very well presented. The negatives are that we had underestimated the size of two of the bedrooms on Floor 3. The website is not misleading but until you see the bedrooms you do not realise how small they are. If we had been aware of this we would not have booked the property. Whilst the beds were comfortable there was very limited storage space, no tables or mirrors or places to put any belongings. It did negatively impact on the experience and enjoyment of the friends who used those rooms. The kitchen is well equipped but needs to be sorted out; some equipment needs replacing or upgraded. A number of the wooden drawers were broken, crockery was chipped and cutlery dirty. Overall, as a group we would only give the Wheelbarrow Castle 3 Stars for our experience.

The barn itself is a lovely building as shown in the photographs and the hosts the couple of times we spoke with them were very friendly.
We were left bottles of wine on arrival which was a very nice touch and logs for the log burner. The log burner was not necessary as the under floor heating is very effective and we actually had to turn the thermostats right down despite it being the start of February. The hot tub was lovely, though a brisk run from the barn door as, as we understood the owners rotate hot tubs between guests and the one closest to the barn had recently been used and they had not had time to clean it, we used the one if the wooden outbuilding which is a little further away but not far. Points to mention; Unless you are looking out of the master bedroom window the outlook is into a working farmyard with views of utilitarian farm buildings rather than open fields, that's not clear from the listing. The nice sitting room with the yellow sofas shown in the listing is not the main sitting room, this adjoins the dining area and it pointedly not shown in the listing. The furniture in this area is a little mismatched, the chair seats a little saggy and the rug is clearly stained. The master bedroom is accessed directly by stairs from the smaller sitting room, with no door between which may bother some people. Overall we had a pleasant stay, just a few little things not quite as implied by the listing.

Have just returned from Timber Barn with university friends to celebrate end of exams.
There was ten of us that stayed for seven nights and it was an absolutely great experience. The owner, Zigi, was lovely and attentive and everything was close to perfect. Itâs a lovely quiet and private area, whilst still being very near the lovely village and there was still lots of things to do. We had a meal in The Cross Inn in Eardisland one night, which was very easy to book, even with our large party. Also days out such as West Midlands Safari Park, Small Breeds and Owl Sanctuary (about 15 mins away), and National Trust properties such as Berrington Hall and Croft Castle were very close and accessible which made the location of this stunning property perfect for a mixture of busy and a relaxing week. Beds were very comfy, and both living spaces met the large party size we had (although would stretch to seat more than ten in one room). Kitchen was brilliant for cooking for a large party and things like the hot tub and tennis courts added even more to this lovely property. Had an amazing time would definitely recommend Timber Barn and would definitely stay again.

I booked a week at Timber Barn for my wife's Birthday, and as a surprise arranged for our extended family to stay as well.
The property is huge, and easily swallowed all 10 of us, with plenty of kit for our cooking needs. Even in mid-February, the hot tub was enjoyed by many, and it even lights up at night (bring your cozzies to check it out!) The tennis court was also used several times, although some of us found out we weren't as young as we used to be! Although the property is on a working farm, the goings-on were not obtrusive, and didn't hinder our enjoyment, and once they had gone home for the day, the afternoons and evenings were so wonderfully quiet. We didn't explore the area too much as the break was really to spend time with family, but there is enough to do and see within short drives. If I had to be really picky (and I know that's why you read these reviews, right?) the only thing I would say is that some of the furniture was a little uncomfortable if seated for a long time, but it wasn't too much of an issue. We had a fabulous week at the barn, and would highly recommend a stay. Thanks Zigi.

The Timber Barn lived up to all our expectations and proved the perfect setting for our first family get together.
It was warm, well equipped, spacious and affordable, we're just sorry we couldn't take advantage of staying longer but will factor that in for the future!! It was a really nice touch having a Christmas tree in one of the sitting rooms, the perfect background for our Secret Santa. Thank you also for the goodies you left for us (including dog biscuits... nice!) Despite the very chilly weather the hot tub was enjoyed by many of us, although the frost never managed to clear on the tennis court for it to be safe to use. Maybe next time! A couple of suggestions from the group: - offer What 3 Words for directions (we did this for our takeaway delivery), it's used by lots of people these days, gets round wordy directions and also fairly essential if needing emergency services. - the house manual could do with a make over. - maybe include a simple guide to using showers. These are just minor things. As you can probably tell we had a great time. Thank you, Annabel
