  On arrival we were greeted by Sheila, who couldn't wait to show us comprehensively around Wagtail Cottage.

  It has everything you could need and crucially, there is a freezer - perfect for ice packs to take delightful local produce on a lengthy journey hone in what is laughingly called the British Summer. Many holiday cottages don't even have an ice box which is just unnecessarily too basic. Wagtail Cottage is rural, no road traffic sounds and only nature all around. Feeding the birds is a must and bird seed is kindly supplied - top marks - and the little feathered friends hang around in the bushes, pretty much waiting for you to put more out! A small, covered outside space allows relaxing and winding down after a day of sightseeing. Ah, yes, on to the beds, often a cause for disappointment. Not here. I can confidently say the bed was the best I've had in a Sykes Cottage and we've used Sykes for many years. Sheila almost apologised for it being higher than normal off the floor. I would have happily used a stepladder to sleep on this one! The beds and comprehensive fittings are standard across all their cottages on the complex, mind you, you can't hear anyone else. The owners were on hand most of our week and even sought us out her and there, Sheila especially eager to know if we were comfortable and all was good and was quite lovely to talk with. That level of friendly customer service is often absent elsewhere - other holiday cottage owners should seriously take note. Granted, there are good 'uns out there and I've dealt with a fair few. But you feel the absence of others after accidentally stumbling upon them on arrival, then never seeing them again. If basic things are broken or missing and need replenishing, phoning up is fine, but can feel anonymous, rather like complaining in your normal life. For the money holiday cottages cost (which is currently increasing quickly), patrons deserve better. I could go on longer, so I say if this is available, just book it - you won't be disappointed.

  The home was part of a converted farm complex of cottages and they’re really beautiful.

  The Kingfisher barn is HUGE and had so much room for our family to spread out and relax. There was an issue with heaters the owner notified us of right away and had resolved early on. The pool table was a big hit with my boys and husband (even me!) and was nice to have two tables (we brought a jigsaw!) - I wish there had been a way to use the deck more it was giant and lovely - just a little chilly. Bedrooms huge - bathrooms clean. Pet friendly too. The location is central to the peninsula so we did say trips to many different places around Cornwall. All within an hour hour & a half drive. As for household items there were a few basics missing when we arrived but we picked them up easily enough. I would not recommend getting a grocery delivery as the post code does NOT work on sat navs. The sat nav sends you down a different road that leads to back of another (?) farm with no way to get through. There are -also major roadworks being done nearby so would recommend anyone going soon (Fall 2020) to look into them and map out your routes. We already want to go back. It was a huge hit with my whole family. Thank you!

  Our holiday in Cornwall to celebrate our 45th Wedding Anniversary was absolutely wonderful but it was made extra special because of where we stayed.

  Wagtail Cottage was totally delightful in every way. A beautiful spotlessly clean and very well equipped cottage with everything you could possibly need. The cottage is set in a truly peaceful and tranquil setting which is exactly what we needed. The views were amazing. The locality was perfect for being able to visit all the places we had on our list and we covered many! At the end of our busy and fun day we would return to this gem where we stayed and it felt like our home. This is just what you need when you go on holiday. Our family visited from Redruth and there were toys and puzzles etc. The lovely garden to sit in and the fields across the way to go and look at the horses. So thank you to lovely Sheila and Peter for your warm welcome and information on things to do and places to go. For being on hand if we had any questions. For the bottle of wine and card not to mention the delicious jar of grape jam from your very own vines! We really hope to return to Cornwall one day and revist Wagtail Cottage.   First impressions on arriving was amazing and very happy we chose this lodge.

  Over the week we settled in and found all the facilities accommodating and enjoyable so well done. To be picky a couple of things were disappointing The toilet floor was noisy and got to be annoying and bad smells from time to time from drains.the sink had greasy marks. No table in the lounge to play cards etc as the stools didn't sit flat on the floor as they were sat across the carpet.had to sit at each end of breakfast bar.1 foot rest has been bent down and could lead to breaking off. The sofa was worn out and uncomfortable The TV room was a great idea but the led around the walls didn't work and the sound bar didn't play through the TV only through Bluetooth which was pointless Outside decking needed an outside brush to clear away all the branches from the seating area,instead we had to use the inside soft brush.why was this not cleared before arriving and outside glass cleaned and not left green. The bath was left with grease marks as not cleaned. You may need to lubricate the front door as getting very stiff on mechanism. Overall we had a good stay and a great holiday

  We arrived at the property to find the Key Safe open and the Keys in full view.

  First impressions were good on entering the property, moving on to the terrace there was an issue with the gate where it had dropped and was stiff to close and unable to latch without physically lifting the gate, something I could do but not something my pregnant daughter could do. Moving upstairs we expected to find a single and bunk beds in the family room but we’re greeted by 3 single beds, hence no space to put the Travel cot so we had to dismantle one bed to generate enough space for it. Into the upstairs bathroom and the Toilet was not secured to the floor and moved every time you sat on it. Property was very dusty and obviously had not been cleaned thoroughly, and it was only when we were checking prior to leaving that we discovered used tissues and sweet papers and thick dust under the bed in the downstairs en-suite bedroom. In the present climate cleaning is paramount and this was simply not good enough. All said the property is in a good location and we had a good holiday and I did phone the owner on my return home to high light the issues that we found.
