What our customers say about their holidays
Brian - Verified booking
We, a party of seven from 17 to 79 with a whippet, stayed in Nutmeg for one week for short family holiday.
We very lucky with the weather and we had a wonderful time. The property is beautifully maintained and equipped. We have stayed in many holiday homes over the years and none were better than this. We particularly liked the small but beautifully designed gardens And the well equipped kitchen. It is very obvious that the owners have put a great deal of thought into providing everything for comfortable holiday. I am happy to recommend this property to anybody thinking of a stay in Aldeburgh. The house is in a quiet street and is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the High Street with all its shops and restaurants. One of the charms of this little town is that its facilities are out of proportion to its small town charm. if you are here, bibliophile then I recommend the towns bookshops and the pastry ice cream and beer lovers among us were well served . Itâs even closer to the beach which although shingle rather than sand was one of the highlights of our stay. Itâs a longer but lovely shoreline walk, 30 or 40 minutes, to Thorpeness, which we also enjoyed. We didnât really take advantage of the local attractions since we were there to relax and enjoy each otherâs company. We were slightly out of season so the local theatre was not yet in production, which wouldâve been nice, but altogether we had a fantastic time and I would recommend both Aldeburgh in general and Nutmeg in particular to anyone who Is looking for a relaxing family holiday.

Crown cottage in Exford was a lovely place to stay, although old the inside is nicely modernised and very well equipped, also spotlessly clean. Lynn and James seem to have thought of everything you might need for your stay, with a welcome pack, Dvd's and games and lots of information on walks and places to visit, the information book being very helpful. There is a small grassed area beside the cottage for nighttime doggy visits and a short walk behind the cottage a grass field for doggy walks. There are 2 pub/hotels in the village, the White Horse is nice to walk to for a drink, with outside tables beside a stream. The food is only ok, a lot better at the Royal Oak at Withypool (2.5 miles). There is a Tea room near the White Horse which does a very nice breakfast. There are some very nice walks from the village, reccomend walking up to Dunkery Beacon. Places to visit nearby Minehead, Dunster village and castle, Valley of the Rocks, The Devils punchbowl at Winsford Hill. We can honestly say it was a lovely place to stay and a lovely area to visit.

We had an excellent stay at Middle Barn cottage and can highly recommend the property.
There were many personal touches that made us feel welcome and added to our stay, such as a courtesy call on our day of arrival, fresh eggs and some wine set out for us, the cot we requested fully set up with bedding, and toys set out in the child's playroom when we arrived. The dual sitting rooms are perfect for a mixed family setup, with a child's playroom and larger living room next door, and the kitchen is big enough to host everyone at mealtimes. The bedrooms are cosy and there is more than enough storage for an extended visit. The garden is private and pleasant, and the hot-tub is an excellent bonus. A few tips for anyone booking a stay: * The road down to the property is narrow, steep and potholed, but can be navigated without trouble by driving carefully at low speed. * There is enough parking for at least 3 cars right outside. * Food delivery and taxi firms found the cottage without too much trouble. * Upstairs and downstairs have separate heating controls, and we found that upstairs became too hot at night if you increased it above 16 degrees. Many thanks to Bev for the hospitality and ideal location during our visit to the area!

Crown Cottage, in the centre of Exford, is the perfect location from which to explore Exmoor on foot or by car. The village has two excellent pubs, which both sell good beer and cider, and a range of delicious food. The post office is very close by and ideal for food items if you wish to cook at home. There is another shop which is full of information about walks in the surrounding area. There is a field just minutes away which is ideal to walk dogs last thing at night, or early morning before setting off on something much longer. There is so much to see in the National Park that a week is simply not long enough. We will definitely visit again.

The protocols the owners had put in place to manage the Covid 19 risk were absolutely spot on; they were both practical & sensible. Due to myself having to manage an ongoing serious illness we had to use both bedrooms and this was made extremely easy in Crown Cottage. I mentioned to the owners that our journey to the cottage was rather spoilt by erroneous traffic signs advising that a key route was closed. The diversion was not well signposted & added over half an hour to our journey. It turned out that the route itself was not closed and was easily passable.
