  Absolutely fantastic holiday cottage!

  A true home from home with all the facilities we needed. Having 3 kids we always have to take a box of extra bits, mainly toys and books but on this occassion we didn't really need to. All ages were catered for (from 18months to adult age!) and we enjoyed many family games of Uno and Checkers during our stay. The small things that really made a huge difference to us was the other provisions that were provided; plastic cutlery & bowls, baby bath mat, cling film and bin bags...they all made a real difference to us just being able to get on an enjoy our holiday. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and the children thought it was a real treat staying is such a posh house. The gate on the drive is an added bit of security for parking your car but also keeping the children contained. We were a little worried about the well, but needn't of worried too much- the protective grill on the top stops anyone from falling in. The location of the cottage is brilliant. Within walking distance to the local play area (less than 5 mins) and Matlock Town centre. There is a bit of road noise but we were out most of the day so it wasn't much of a problem. All the big attractions were within 30mins which was an added bonus. Emma has done a fantastic job thinking of everything anyone staying here would need, from home comforts to luxury additions, thankyou!

  If the fact that the bathroom was on the ground floor was mentioned in the brochure , I missed it . Possibly that fact could be made more obvious . There is quite a tight turn into the property , fairly narrow , between two stone walls . To complete the turn in you have to cross a busy B road on a bend . The parking space is adequate , but a bit of negotiating is required to get out . The front door blew open when left on the latch , needs to be locked from the inside to ensure its closed . There is quite a bit of road noise but the double glazing is a big asset . Bedroom lighting was poor , particularly lack of effective bedside lights . As with most rented cottages there wasn't an egg timer ! . The paddock wasn't really dog proof . Good points .It was clean and warm with easy to understand heating and a log burner with some logs , kindling and firelighters supplied . So too a small welcome pack . The beds were comfortable . As was the seating . All in all quite a good conversion . The property is some way out of Crich , with no pavement to walk into the village . Neither of the village pubs were serving meals at the time we were there , but there was a pleasant Indian restaurant , where you need to take yr own alcohol , or buy it from the supermarket next to the restaurant. The property is well placed for touring Derbyshire .

  Thank you for a really lovely stay at Rose Cottage.

  We really loved the cottage and it was so comfortable with everything we needed to make it a perfect holiday. Emma left a very generous welcome gift; we really enjoyed the Bakewell cake, all the treats and the bottle of wine was a lovely treat. Rose Cottage is spotlessly clean, very well equipped and extremely comfortable. Emma was very kind and ensured a stair gate was in place for us when we arrived. There were lots of other useful items for children such as a step and potty which made our stay so much easier. My daughter had the best time and really loved all the toys and books she discovered in her room. It was brilliant to have so many books and toys in the house, it really helped her to enjoy her stay. The cottage is beautiful and really well cared for with so many special touches to make it a really special place to be on holiday . Emma left lots of little extras such as chocolates by the beds and nuts in the sitting room which made us feel we were staying somewhere quite special. We all slept really well in the huge beds, again it was all very comfortable and spotlessly clean. If we can come back to the area again we would definitely want to stay at Rose Cottage it was perfect. Thank you so much Emma

  Great property and location.

  The cottage was very clean and tidy and ready for our stay when we arrived. We used the jacuzzi every night which was a very nice change as we don't have one at home. We did a lot of walking and there are great places to explore around the cottage. Matlock Bath is a nice walk from the cottage and if we were there for longer we would have walked to Matlock instead of driving there. Our dog loved the stay and was ready for his bed every night and slept really well. There are 2 great pubs down the road (Greyhound and The Boat Inn), we preferred the Boat Inn as it's an old-worldy type of pub and the food there was fantastic. On our last night we ate at teh Tapas Restaurant which was nice but be prepared to wait for your food if you get the tapas deal. I had pizza so not much of a wait for me. I'd definitely go back to the cottage and am looking at booking again. I promise you won't be disappointed.

  We stayed as a couple with our little lurcher and enjoyed the cottage very much. The views are lovely - look out of the window and see sheep grazing across just across the road! - and geographically the location is good, with some local amenities in Crich just round the corner (and of course the Tramway museum, definitely worth visiting), and supermarkets etc a short drive away in Alfreston. Lovely countryside and plenty of places to go walking and visiting. Nice enclosed space behind the cottage for the dog to run, and very comfy furniture - nice sofas and big beds. Being right on the road did mean traffic noise was noticeable, but fortunately it's not too busy most of the time. Kitchen facilities all very good except the fridge, which is very small. Good shower, but very slippery shower tray!
