What our customers say about their holidays

Beutiful cottage in idyllic surroundings.
Alex and Kay are lovely hosts and we had the distinct feeling nothing was too much trouble. The loss of one point for recommendation is purely that for a self catering cottage the fridge is very small; we fully accept that there is no space for a larger fridge but possibly making this clearer would be helpful, also may be a few more tea bags in with the coffee/ sugar box ? These were the one thing we had forgotten, so the two that were in the box didn't last long. There were a couple of areas which had been missed with the duster such as the bedside lamps and under the radiator in the lounge area, we know trying to keep ahead of dust in the country is a never ending job, but lamps and also top of the fire had unfortunately simply been missed but overall cottage was spotless. Kitchen was well stocked with equipment which again was really clean. Was there anything that has put us off going back? NO! We weren't sure to start with, but within 24 hours, we were looking at dates to return and are continuing to do so. Thank you Kay and Alex for a lovely relaxing stay.

Fabulous little cottage, the pictures donât do it justice, itâs so much nicer in reality.
The room is so cosy, with a huge tv(bonus), kitchen had everything we needed, shame it didnât have a freezer, even just a freezer box in fridge, but we did manage okay, especially when itâs right next to a fabulous little butcherâs. The bedroom was spacious, bed comfy, pillows too hard for me, perhaps give an option?. Lovely bathroom, if thereâs a way to shower that would be good, like one of them hoop curtains?, we made do so not a major issue, just a little issue for people with back problems getting out of baths. The car park space was a real bonus, only a few minutes down the street as the streets filled up pretty quickly, just unload at side of butchers then park down the road, we did get neighbours looking, however lots of people doing it down this street all day. Ruswarp is a perfect location, only 30 minutes walk to Whitby via train track trail, perfect for our little cockapoo. If itâs available for our next holiday we will be back.

Greeted upon arrival by Alex and taken on a tour of the cottage.
Very clean, cosy and warm, the bed is sooooo comfortable. Left to our own devices but, Alex said any problems just go to their house which is on the grounds. Opposite is a working farm but that doesnât cause any issues at all. An exercise area is on site for your dogs to have a stretch. Such a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of life. Ease of location to visiting different areas. York was about an hours drive otherwise most areas about 15 - 40 minutes roughly. Places we managed were Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby, Scarborough, Sandsend, Staithes and York. Great places to visit with such history connected, even with your dogs. The coastal trails were lovely being amongst the fresh sea air. Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay have steep hills, wouldnât recommend if in a wheelchair unfortunately. Overall, the week spent at this location was just what we needed and will definitely return.

Weâve had a lovely 2 night break in Willow lodge.
The lodge itself has everything you could need and is immaculately clean. The beds were very comfortable and the water pressure and temperature in the showers was great. Fresh towels and crisp bedding provided. The location is fantastic, a couple of miles from the centre of Whitby and a short walk to a great pub. There is a park and ride and petrol station close by. We really enjoyed the hot tub, which again was immaculately clean and set to a great temperature for arrival. A clothes horse or retracing line to hang wet towels would be useful, also additional hot tub towels. We brought our own so not an issue for us. Not a negative, just some feedback which may help the owners keep the lodge in its best condition. We will definitely returnâ¦this place is a real gem!!

Property was as described and very comfortable.
Some Prosecco and other goodies left for us which was a nice touch. Depending on when you arrive/depart youâll either need to unload in the butchers car park or if thatâs closed, in the side road but it is quite busy so you need to be quick. Once we parked up we used the train to get to Whitby or we walked in along the path that runs alongside the railway line (takes about 30 mins). Road outside it quite busy but we soon got used to it so it was no problem. I did feedback to the owners that a privacy curtain would be useful on the back door as you have to pass it to get from the bathroom to upstairs. There is a curtain on the front door. A lovely cottage in a lovely setting and a really good alternative in price to actually staying in Whitby.
