  Our family of three stayed at Poppyfields in August 2024 for a short mid-week break during the school holiday's. Our stay there was perfect for a busy working family. The property it's self is lovely, (very clean, fresh and modern) and is on a quiet site just next door to a campsite. It's a short drive away from the beautiful beach and cafe at Praa Sands and the pubs and restaurants in Porthleven so was a perfect base to explore the local area. We managed to visit Newquay zoo on the way down and see the dolphins at Lands End before coming home. As with lots of other parents we still had to do some work whiles we were there, the Wi-Fi was good enough to host zoom calls and to stream tv ect which was super handy. All in all, it was a perfect place for a beautiful break.

  We have had numerous experiences staying in lodges around the UK, but to tell you the truth in reality Poppyfields Lodge, which was one of six lodges at this location was a world away from the previous experiences. The high spec of the fittings and furnishings was apparent throughout, the outside with the decking and corner bifold doors giving the inside outside feel was so nice on a beautiful sunny evening.For a quiet, relaxing stay in a spot close to some idyllic areas of Cornwall, this is definitely worth considering. In the South West we often think of a holiday lodge as purely summer vacations, I suggest you take advantage of the low season rates, step into this centrally heated cosy lodge, run yourself a bath, open with wine, relax and enjoy.

  On Arrival to Penzance the weather was terrible, we followed instructions to the destination but overshot the gated entrance and ended up getting lost.

  Very remote but once we got our bearings was a delight. Being without phone signal and WiFi was great, no pressures from home, very quite, private and secluded, if this is what you want you're in for a treat. The Shepard's hut was very clean, well thought out with everything you need. Comfy and compact. Lovely option of a fire fuelled hot tub and in dry sunny weather outside seating. We have a lovely few days away visiting all the sights of Penzance, St Ives and all the little villages tucked away, Marazion and St Michaels Mount being our main focus. 4 nights weren't really long enough but really enjoyed our stay.   Fantastic location. Town and eateries very close within easy walking distance. We parked in Island car park, 2 minutes walk & gets very busy, which cost just £26.30 for the week. However when booking this it doesn’t start until the next day so pre book through Cornwall council, Just Park app. A welcome pack, tea ,coffee etc would have been nice on arrival especially after long journey. Would recommend taking a couple of your own chairs to sit out on the wharf as benches get very busy and deckchairs cost £1.50 an hour or £7 for whole day.

  Wonderful peaceful location just outside Penzance.

  The Shepherds hut was so cozy especially with the stormy weather we were having in January. We spent 7 nights here and we didn’t want it to end. There was a wooden shelter outside with lovely lights around which we would sit during the evening. The location was so good for touring a lovely part of Cornwall.The Shepherds hut was very clean with a very comfortable bed.We hope to return again in the near future.
