What our customers say about their holidays
Marie - Verified booking
We had a lovely holiday, as we always do in newquay.
I have been coming to newqusy for over 30 years, but this is the first time i have felt the need to do a review like this. The good points. The Appartment was lovely, clean and comfy, and the welcome cream tea was a lovely touch. The view over the bay and upto the headland was also amazing. Now for the niggly points, However just a couple of cosmetic bits could do with looking at, eg the veranda could do with a touch of paint and a clean up. And upholstery could do with a clean. As some staining on it. Now the bad points. Upon arrival there was a horrendous smell which i reported straight away, and patio door handle was loose. However it took almost a week for maintenance to come out. So in meantime we had to keep having all windows n patio door open to air it out and buy airfresheners to help difusse the smell. I believe it turned out to be a drain issue. I work for a well known holiday company and if any issues like this are reported its dealt with straight away. So for this fact thats why i rated it as i have. The fact the lift was out of service the whole 2 week was inconvenient to. The whole 2 week there we noticed there was no daily cleaner to clean the hallways, no fire alarm practice and no notices to state the fact of alarm tests. Also warning tape on the stairs and someone keeping their bike locked up on the 1st floor landing, meant having to be carefull as we walked past. No light in the hall by the keysafes and postboxes and anyone could walk into the building as tho internal door had a lock and key if you pulled the door both doors would open. We saw many of residents do this. Again, prior places i have stayed issues like this are dealt with straight away. There was also someone in the apartments nearby us who regularly smoked weed so because of the sea breeze we regularly smelt it. Overall, we had a lovely holiday, even though weather was allover the place, but you cant help the british weather. I just feel what we paid for the holiday was a little over the top concidering we usually hire another apartment nearby which is still a 3 bed but alot bigger, newer, cheaper, mid holiday bedding change, building cleaners, h&s tests and still sea views. A mid break change of bedding and towels would be an idea for anyone staying 2 weeks or more. As it stands, would i book again probably not. If building issues were addressed, maybe.

The apartment itself was brilliant and in a perfect location.
It had everything you needed for a great stay and the views were amazing. The location was spot on for the beaches, restaurants and for going into town. There was plenty of crockery and the appliances we used were great and loved the SMEG toaster & kettle (we didn't use the washer/dryer). Fantastic TV to watch your favorite programs - we have absolutely no complaints about that at all. We did have problems over the heating and had no heat for over 3 days, we hadn't found the handbook created by the owner as it was under the coffee table and we'd put items on top of them so didn't see them until Wednesday evening of our stay - it needs to be placed in a prominent position or at least with the lever arch folder and leaflets on the small table under the stairs. The apartment had not had a thorough clean though which considering we couldn't enter until 6pm and had to be out for 9.30am was pretty bad. We found numerous long hairs in the main bathroom, plastic tags from clothing or similar in the main bedroom and the kitchen, table mats not cleaned and the dining table was not clean especially when opened, even had crumbs in it. Found all sorts under the coffee table when we moved it to hoover and in crumbs etc between the sofa cushions which was not nice. Also, found a broken finger nail on the kitchen unit between utility pot and next pot over. Description for the single beds I think needs to state they are for children. We had an adult sleeping in one of them and the mattress was half the thickness of those on the double beds, also the slats came out very easily! The twin room only had drawers, no wardrobe. The 2nd double bedroom had a wardrobe and no drawers, so obviously you need to share between the two - not great if an adult is in the twin room. However, that did not stop us from having a great holiday, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was the perfect location with fantastic views. Would recommend the apartment to others, they just need to improve the cleaning to a consistent level and maybe change the description slightly. I'm sure it is probably more families staying here rather than 3 adults using a bedroom each.

Really well presented property in a stunning location.
We loved the rear facing balcony at the back of the building, away from the busy front. The apartment is generally equipped to a high standard, the decor, furniture and fittings are very nicely done. We appreciated the Nespresso machine, washer/dryer and UHD tv. The bathrooms are lovely and again equipped to a high standard, we enjoyed the waterfall showers. The whole apartment was immaculately clean and thoughtfully set out. Lovely box of Cornish biscuits on arrival which was appreciated. A few minor points to feed back on, the property is listed as suitable for families and there is a cot, highchair etc indicating suitability for small children, so we were surprised at the glass tables which we didnât feel were toddler safe. I would also concur with another comment about the pillows which we found hard and uncomfortable. The kitchen was well equipped but I felt the frying pans needed replacing, as they were quite worn and I didnât want to use them. Also some of the childrenâs cutlery was badly chewed and in need of replacement. Having a child who is still crawling Iâd also suggest that the balcony could have been swept and mopped. We also couldnât get the DVD player to work which was a shame, but that could have been our incompetence rather than a technical issue!! Just a few things which we thought were below the overall very high standard, hopefully itâs helpful and constructive feedback. We would definitely recommend this lovely place to others, and will certainly hope to come back again ourselves!

2nd time staying at Saltwater and great experience.
Love the range of kitchen utilities and space. Bedrooms are very comfortable. Plenty of living space with TV's, WiFi, boardgames to keep everyone entertained should the weather or need for a lazy day necessitate. Plenty of guidance and help is at hand if needed although there's nothing unintuitive about the usual doors, windows, kitchen utilities usage. Location is great with the accommodation situated within walking distance of beaches, shops, coastal paths, mini golf, football golf, cream teas, chips shops, etc etc.. Despite this the location is away from the main buzz of Newquay town centre and evenings are quiet with sunsets a walk across the road, and a spacious outdoor area to relax on. We had great weather and a group ranging from adult to teens to my 12 year old daughter. The accommodation suited everyone's needs very well. Saltwater has its own dedicated parking spot directly outside the front so coming and going, packing/unpacking was made very easy. Travel to Cornwall's further flung attractions is great from the location given Newquay's location but with the good weather we found ourselves mostly staying local. The nearest beach, lusty glaze, is about 5 minutes walk. Porth, and obviously Newquay centre also are easily walkable. Having experienced the accommodation two successive years now I can say that it real does tick all the boxes and would thoroughly recommend. The owner has done a great job in speccing out and maintaining the accommodation. Many Thanks James. Howard

The flat is simply beautiful and has everything you need in it.
The problem we had was that it is advertised with an EV charging point, which was the whole reason we booked it as we have an electric vehicle. When we arrived it was not working and although the owner tried really hard for us and found another one that we could use, it was a bit of a nightmare. There was also a lot of painting and maintenance work going on in the property which the owner was not aware of, which made every day a bit of a chore as you never knew where you would be able to park, if you could park, when you got home each day. There is building work going on around the flat, which is totally out of the hands of the owner but if we had known this we might not have stayed as it did not make for the most peaceful of stay. That being said the owner did her best to try and solve our problems, and has contacted the various people asking to be kept up to date on any work that is now being carried out. Please don't let this put you off, just be aware of it and hopefully when you go all the work will be finished and you will have a peaceful stay as the flat really is beautiful and a great location to stay in.
