  Over the past 16 years we have been regular visitors to Holkham and love the estate and its values. We first stayed in Cuckoo Lodge in February 2023, enjoyed the location and felt the property was well equipped and maintained. However our stay in December 2023 was very different. The heating was not working and the property was freezing cold when we arrived, electric heaters had been provided but these (even when the log burner was lit) were insufficient to fully heat the property. Original Cottages staff told us we would have to wait 2 days for an engineer to visit. Unhappy with this we complained directly to the owners at Holkham Hall Estates office and an engineer visited later that day. The wi-fi (which had been perfectly adequate in Feb) was also insufficient to download email or run any smart TV apps - an engineer confirmed speed at 0.2 mbps (at least 2.0 needed for TV apps). Furthermore the property was dusty and the floors not well cleaned downstairs. We decided to leave a day early and had to fight very hard to get that day refunded. In short the service provided by Original Cottages in no way matches the high prices charged and we would not stay in a Holkham lodge again.

  Over all we enjoyed our stay. The cottage is beautiful. The track leading to the cottage did have several deep pot holes in that we had to try and avoid else it would have damaged the cars. The garden was advertised as secure, for larger dogs that may be the case, our Labrador was fine however our chihuahua could get out under the gate and one side of the garden had no fence or wire. This was a bit disappointing as the secure garden was one of the main reasons we booked here. The main bedroom is amazing, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. A good night sleep was what was needed after a day at wells beach. A shower attachment would be amazing as well as the waterfall shower it was hard to shower without soaking your hair at the same time. Walks down the tracks in the evening was lovely especially when we caught glimpses of the sunset. A lovely stay at the cottage and would definitely return and recommend.

  Absolutely beautiful caravan situated in the most peaceful and quiet surroundings.

  Perfect for relaxing and listening to the many variety of birds. A walk in the eve and you'll spot deer. The caravan was immaculately clean with everything to make your stay comfortable. A real home from home. A perfect addition was an airfryer!! Super comfy beds and pillows. Hot shower and lovely warm central heating. Bed linen and towels were provided. There's a swimming pool on site which you have access to. The caravan is situated to so many lovely local places of interest. A short distance from Great Yarmouth and beyond... Our favourite, the seal colony ay Horsey, which was breathtaking. Pat and Jeff are the most warm of hosts, always on hand to help or offer assistance. We would highly recommend staying here.   A very pretty cottage, perfect for husband and myself, and our little dog. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable dining room and sofa. You must like the quiet to get the most out of the location as the area is very ‘sleepy’. Holkham estate is on the doorstep - beautiful walk around the lake, many fallow deer. Be warned that access to the sea from most beaches on this coast involves navigating marshy stretches of land, so wellies are essential. We enjoyed the soothing sounds of the many coastal birds and geese, paradise for any ‘twitchers’. Wells is 5 mins away - very well equipped with a great bakery and a super clean and smart Co-op, well-stocked with a wide range of frozen Cook ready meals for the nights you want to eat in.

  The Chalet was in a good position for beach, a pub n fish n chips.

  .good parking and did have fairly good kitchen n cook facilities. However, it is the smallest accommodation we stayed with Sykes for 4 adults. Double bedroom was small as was the twin… fortunately all of us are not rotund people n just about able to get round the furniture. Little room for storage so we pushed all luggage under beds. Dining table position in limited space meant the bathroom access always blocked when all 4 seats used. Inadequate sets of cutlery for 4 persons especially when one set in the dishwasher.. we had to handwashing too. We would rather pay to have more space n an extra toilet because someone is always desperate for the toilet when the only one is occupied…
