  We really enjoyed our stay here over the New Year period and have already booked to stay again!

  We are familiar with the area having lived here many years ago and still have family that we visit nearby so knew that Porthcawl is a great location to stay. The apartment is extremely spacious, clean and toasty warm, it's also well equipped with lovely fixtures and furnishings which made our stay during the awful weather we had over New Year very comfortable and cosy. Our adult sons joined us for a few days and there was plenty of room to accommodate 4 adults without getting in each others way. Plenty of places to eat out or grab a takeaway in the town and when the weather allows there are fantastic coastal walks. We did find it a bit tricky to locate the rear entrance at first as it was dark when we arrived, for future guests the entrance and car parking is situated in John Street car park (signposted) at the bottom of the road and can be entered off Mary Street. Parking was readily available throughout our stay and we were able to park right outside the back gate entrance. Its a quick cut through on foot to the main street in the town for shopping and food supplies with a large Co-op just around the corner and an Aldi a 10 minute walk. Our young adult sons had the novelty of ordering coffee and breakfast rolls on the Greggs app and nipping down to collect in minutes :-D we live rurally so this was novelty to them! Its also worth noting that the walk along the front to Rest Bay and enjoying refreshments at the Cafe Bar with panoramic views across the bay is a must.   The apartment was near perfect for our stay in every way.

  It was very comfortable, clean and spacious in an ideal location within walking distance to the town (1 min), Aldi (5 mins) and beach (5 mins). The main bedroom was big enough for our ‘next to me’ to easily fit next to the bed with thick dark curtains. The shower was excellent and the property had washing and drying machine available. We did a lot of cooking and would have liked some non stick pans but it’s no big deal. We did find there was no cupboard space at all for shopping but at least the fridge freezer was a good size. Also there are steep metal stairs to gain access to the property so carrying baby and push chair up was difficult but this was well documented on the listing so knew about it before hand. There is a public car park behind the property that charges between 8-12 then 3-6pm. I was spending about £5.50 a day on parking as I didn’t want to park on the main road at the front - mainly because there wasn’t a designated spot and no access from the front of the property. We would definitely come back here again!!

  Lovely stay, weather was kind to us with only one rainy day.

  Great location close to beaches and shops. Clean and welcoming when we arrived with milk, bacon, bread, butter etc. provided and nice addition of bath robes and slippers. Secure garden for our dog who loved the beaches at Rest Bay and Newton which are dog friendly (although people were taking dogs on Sandy Beach and Trecco Bay we mainly stuck to the rules except on last day we tried the edge of Sandy Bay early in the day as was too hot to walk too far for the dog). Lovely garden furniture to sit outside both front and back. Was a damp smell in main bedroom which I think is caused by the above flat, as when they empty (I assume) the bath the water comes out all over the graveled area outside the patio doors not all down the drain leaving the area very wet. Also the flat above does cause a lot of noise as can hear footsteps all the time and their washing machine made the lights rattle in the living area.

  The apartment was lovely and in an ideal location close to the shops and sea front.

  It was decorated lovely for Xmas an nice and clean. We did have a couple of issues. First the tumble dryer didn't work which was one of the reasons we went for this apartment. Having a dog and children there's always washing. Second the sofa in the lounge and the spare duvet in the boxes had a huge red blood stain on there so this couldn't be used. Third when I was changing in the bedroom an my kids were in the living area watching the dog, the cleaner walked right into our apartment as they turned up the wrong day. I think by the door being open and all our stuff I'm the kitchen area they would have known we hadn't left. It's only lucky our dog is friendly seeing a stranger walk in like that. Overall we enjoyed our stay accept for the issues above. We would stay again but would enquire about the tumble dryer and blood stain before booking to ensure this is resolved. Thanks Katie

  Very clean, well presented with simple but appropriate furnishings for a comfortable stay.

  A helpful owner who responded rapidly with any queries. Very close indeed to the sea. Fairground opposite and pub next door produced some daytime noise but the house was actually quite well insulated from this and the fair closed at 9pm promptly after which the apartment was surprisingly peaceful actually. Small suntrap courtyard with furniture and washing line at the back of the property was pleasant. Nice friendly neighbours. Beds not to our comfort unfortunately but these are personal preferences. Well equipped in general. Needed a cheese grater and a couple of sharper cooking knives in stock but these are small points. The listing needs to clarify that there is no parking for the property other than street parking. Also it would be helpful to have information regarding rubbish and recycling systems as we had to ask about this.
