  The plus points first. Harbour Hideaway is in a fantastic location in Seahouses. Very handy for all the lovely local amenities. The convenient parking space is right outside the property. The decor is modern and the layout well thought out. For the size it is well equipped, the combined microwave is a larger model. We found the sofa bed to be comfortable and easy to convert from sofa to a bed. The views from the property are beautiful, with lovely walks along the coast. However, Harbour Hideaway is very small, once the sofa bed is made up, you can only just walk around it. The main space, not including the front door recess is app 2.3 metres, (less 40cm for the kitchen run, approx 1.9 metres) by 3.2 metres approx. There is a small recess for the front door. We found damp and high levels of humidity to be a problem and have provided the owner with photos. Thankfully we had lovely weather because it would be difficult drying wet coats, shoes and walking coats in such a confined space. There is very little storage space and we had to leave rucksacks, walking shoes and jackets in the car. All bedding and towels are provided but there were only two pillows, for two people. There is not room in the sofa bed storage for all the bedding, we had to leave a pillow out during the day. We stayed for five nights and found it a little challenging because of the lack of space and lack of storage.

  What a wonderful home in a beautiful location! After such a stressful year ‘Gin Gan’ has been the perfect place to relax and celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary! Thank you for the delicious goodies in the hamper which was such a treat! The weather has been very kind. We have enjoyed hours on the beach/sand dunes at Bamburgh. We also paid a visit to the stunning grounds and castle of Bamburgh and also spend a day at the wonderful Alnwick Gardens. We were spoilt for choice for meals, The Copper Kettle in Bamburgh provided excellent door stop sandwiches and cakes. Lewis fish restaurant in Seahouses did the BEST take away fish and chips. However, the best experience by far was seeing a seal pup on the beach at Seahouses on the evening we got here, it was an amazing sight that we wont forget. Five days really isn’t enough, we are already looking forward to returning. Thank you.

  Just returned from a lovely stay at The Gin Gan. It’s a fantastic cottage – beautifully decorated and equipped. The very large kitchen/dining/day room is really striking – great for family meals, but it was also nice to have the cosy sitting room with a gas fire. Bedrooms and bathrooms are relatively small, but have everything you need. The garden is also quite small, but private and fully enclosed, with nice garden furniture in a sun trap. Very peaceful location. Walking distance to North Sunderland/Seahouses – including beach, shops, cafes ect. Lovely spa a short distance away. (Beau Monde at Lucker). Owners were very responsive and helpful when we had a question. Coquet Cottages are always reliable – we have stayed in their cottages for a number of years and the standard of cottages, plus customer service are a second to none.

  We should have been here in June 2020 to celebrate my 75th birthday but we could not come due to the covid restrictions. We are so pleased we postponed our stay to June 2021 and celebrated my 76th birthday. It was well worth the wait. We have had a fabulous few days here at The Gin Gan. The house is fantastic and so well appointed. From the moment we stepped across the threshold we felt at home and relaxed. It was wonderful being able to get together as a family again. We couldn’t have waited for better weather to be able to sit and relax in the garden, as there was glorious sunshine. Thank you to Peter and Sian for the welcome basket, personal touches and attention to detail, they were all greatly appreciated. We would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely cottage and hope to be able to return sometime in the future.

  We have really enjoyed our week at The Gin Gan. The accommodation is comfortable and restful and a great place for the family to stay. There is everything you could need to make it a real home from home and the kitchen was a pleasure to use. We loved the attention to detail – the sea birds and pictures are fab! We have been lucky with the weather and some great days out visiting Lindisfarne and Bamburgh. We took a boat trip to the Farne Island and, having been impressed by the seals, had the added bonus of seeing dolphins on our return. We enjoyed some good meals at the Longstone hotel round the corner where we were made very welcome. (including the dog). Thank you for sharing this beautiful home. We have had a great holiday and hope to return.
