  The plus points first. Harbour Hideaway is in a fantastic location in Seahouses. Very handy for all the lovely local amenities. The convenient parking space is right outside the property. The decor is modern and the layout well thought out. For the size it is well equipped, the combined microwave is a larger model. We found the sofa bed to be comfortable and easy to convert from sofa to a bed. The views from the property are beautiful, with lovely walks along the coast. However, Harbour Hideaway is very small, once the sofa bed is made up, you can only just walk around it. The main space, not including the front door recess is app 2.3 metres, (less 40cm for the kitchen run, approx 1.9 metres) by 3.2 metres approx. There is a small recess for the front door. We found damp and high levels of humidity to be a problem and have provided the owner with photos. Thankfully we had lovely weather because it would be difficult drying wet coats, shoes and walking coats in such a confined space. There is very little storage space and we had to leave rucksacks, walking shoes and jackets in the car. All bedding and towels are provided but there were only two pillows, for two people. There is not room in the sofa bed storage for all the bedding, we had to leave a pillow out during the day. We stayed for five nights and found it a little challenging because of the lack of space and lack of storage.

  Saltwater Cottage provided a relaxing holiday because it’s comfortable, very well equipped and situated in a convenient location. There is nothing negative to say about it. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. The location and availability because we left booking a bit late! We booked Saltwater Cottage, even though there were no photos available and it didn’t have a star rating, because Coquet Cottages only offer excellent accommodation. Everything we needed was there in the cottage so our holiday began as soon as we walked through the door. We liked everything about it! The garage and off road parking are convenient and the patio area and garden are lovely. The TV is great! We were delighted by the toiletries provided and items in the kitchen that can easily be forgotten to bring. The scones were delicious too! Thank you- lovely accommodation.

  We were last here in Saltwater Cottage in October 2022 and this holiday has been just as enjoyable. The forecast for the week was terrible but luckily it was wrong and we’ve had lots of bright sunshine. The walk from Boulmer to Craster is stunning – beautiful bays and plenty of sea birds. The Cottage Inn at Dunstan has excellent food (at very reasonable prices). The Ship Inn has well kept bar. Elan continues to make delicious pizzas. The fish and chip van at Beadnell is a good stopping point (fri-sun) as is The Lazy Cow (farm) selling proper coffee and homemade cakes. High (or Low) Newton to Embleton is a good beach walk – then on to Dunstanburgh and Craster for a seafood lunch at the pub. We hope to be back soon!

  We have had a wonderful stay at Saltwater Cottage. We loved the cottage and thought it was the perfect accommodation for us. It was well equipped and had a beautiful garden. The weather has been perfect despite the bad forecast, warm and sunny. We loved Holy Island, especially the nature reserve, sand dunes, wildlife. Had great trip round the Farne Islands and have been amazed by the birds (Puffins are my favourite) but sadly we didn’t see any dolphins. Bamburgh castle was amazing. We also visited Berwick Upon Tweed which was a wonderful trip. We don’t know this northern park of Northumberland but we will be back to explore some more. Seahouses is also a great spot to explore Northumberland.

  We’ve enjoyed our stay in Saltwater Cottage, it is lovely and cosy and we have enjoyed the open living space. It was also lovely that we could look at the garden and relax on the patio. We are regulars of Northumberland and have been visiting over ten years now. We had a truly wonderful meal at Longstone House Hotel in North Sunderland (turn left at the front of the cottage, 10 minutes walk and its on your right),the staff and food were amazing. We were also able to take our two dogs. Bamburgh, as always still takes our breath away in any weather. We had glorious weather one day and sea fret the other. Thank you for all our treats and the goodies for the dogs.
