Beyond the gate at the bottom of the garden, a rough hillside path with a very steep descent leads to the water front where it is possible to swim when the tide is in - only for the more adventurous.

The nearest pub and local store are within a ten minute walk and for a wider choice of shops, pubs and restaurants Newquay is one mile. There are several excellent beaches nearby, including Crantock and Fistral with its fine golden sands and surfing centre which is the nearest about half a mile away. There is an abundance of visitor attractions in Newquay including a cinema, zoo, aquarium and waterworld leisure park. Riding stables, golf, a bowling alley and boating lake are all close by and a regular bus service operates to Newquay town and railway station. It is also within easy driving distance to Jamie Oliver's Fifteen at Watergate Bay and Rick Steins in Padstow.
