Guests say

Y Bwthyn offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by beautiful gardens and countryside, perfect for those seeking tranquillity and a break from technology. Guests appreciate the spacious grounds, proximity to scenic walks, and the rustic charm of the cottage. While some mention the need for deeper cleaning and maintenance, as well as limited WiFi and mobile signal, the overall experience is positive for those looking to unwind and enjoy nature.

Several guests found the property clean and tidy, but others reported issues such as uncleaned rooms, mould, and a need for a deep clean. Cleanliness appears inconsistent, with some visits marred by lack of preparation.

The location is widely praised for its beauty, tranquillity, and access to nature reserves, woodlands, and local amenities. Guests enjoy the peaceful setting and proximity to Newport and scenic walks.

Guests found the cottage peaceful and relaxing, with lovely grounds and a cosy wood burner. However, some noted uncomfortable or old furniture, poor heating in colder months, and minor maintenance issues affecting comfort.

The cottage offers most essentials, but guests noted the absence of a washing machine, DVD player, and reliable WiFi. Maintenance issues such as broken lights and heating were also mentioned, though the wood burner and garden access were appreciated.

Some guests appreciated meeting the owner and being allowed to pick fruit and flowers from the garden, but there were no mentions of welcome gifts. The lack of an information pack and basic provisions like logs for the first night was noted. Please note that gifts or special touches are not guaranteed.

Lovely to meet the owner when we arrived. Lovely grounds, peaceful and quiet. Could do with some extra maintenance and a more thorough cleaning but everything that was needed was available and was good value. Nearby town of Newport only a few minutes drive which has shop and several good pubs serving food.

The location is really beautiful, the cottage is surrounded by shrubs and greenery and at night you can hear the cows mooing. It's close to many beautiful beaches and villages. However, when we arrived the cottage had not been cleaned. So we spent a couple of hours vacuuming, clearing cobwebs and spiders, cleaning the bathrooms and changing the beddings. There were human as well animal hairs on the sofas and the kitchen/living room had a stale smell. The ensuite bathroom had mould on the walls. The cottage is need of a deep clean. We think there are mice/rats living in the ceiling above the living room as we could hear a scattering noise.

We had a brilliant time here. Incredible location. Truly away from it all. The grounds at the cottage are absolutely stunning. Lots of unusual plants , bushes and trees and a lovely orchard. The cottage is rustic. If you want top end luxury, a power shower, WiFi and a phone signal then it’s not for you. If you want to step away from the rat race and truly relax then this is the place. We absolutely loved it and will be returning soon and often.
