Pippins sleeping up to 4 guests

This ’upside-down’ house leaves you with stunning views over the Welsh countryside from the comfort of the living room.
S78247 was converted in 1999 from a former granary, and is set in 14 acres of pastureland overlooking the Ithon Valley, at the foot of Castle Bank, the site of the ruined Norman Cefnllys Castle. The cottage is adjacent to the owners own Grade II listed residence, which dates back to the 17th century.
S78247 has an ‘upside-down’ living arrangement and has been lovingly furnished by the owners. The open-plan upstairs living room and kitchen area overlooks the surrounding hills, making the most of the wonderful views. Downstairs there are two bedrooms (one with en-suite facilities), and an additional shower room.
Guests will appreciate the private garden overlooking the open countryside, with access to a public right of way leading down the hill to the 13th-century Cefnllys church. This is on the banks of the River Ithon, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, where you can cross the Shaky Bridge to Bailey Einon Nature Reserve. This is superb walking country, and is accessible straight from the doorstep. Red kites and buzzards can regularly be seen soaring over the land. Visitors to S78247 are welcome to wander over the owners’ land, taking in the far-reaching views.
A pub serving food can be found in Penybont just 2½ miles away, and Llandrindod Wells, approximately 15 minutes by car, has all the usual amenities of pubs, restaurants and local shops, together with the bonus of two large supermarkets. The magnificent Elan Valley is just over half an hour’s drive away, with a 9-mile traffic free path, stunning scenery and a fascinating visitor centre, café and a variety of events all year round. The surrounding area has long been famed for rare and beautiful wildlife, and the International Dark Sky Park status of the Elan Valley makes it an ideal place to view the moon, planets and stars, and sometimes you can get a superb view of the International Space Station.
Devil’s Bridge and waterfalls, the Vale of Rheidol steam railway and the coast at Aberystwyth are around an hour away by car. Trout fishing is available on the neighbouring land.
Immerse yourself in the fantastic and fascinating area, and make S78247 your home from home whilst you enjoy a well deserved break. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

"Excellent very comfortable accommodation of the very highest standard. Lovely location with fantastic views. Peaceful and secluded. The owners next door are lovely and very friendly they can't do enough for you. This was our second stay and will definitely go back. I would certainly recommend S78247"
    Sandra – 31 Oct 2018
"A truly delightful property in a most tranquil setting. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and it had a good variety of utensils and equipment. There was a good sized enclosed garden for the dog. Would definitely return and recommend."

"Pippin's is an amazing cottage set in a beautiful and relaxing location. The views are outstanding, particularly when you take a walk up the hill behind the house. An added bonus was the dayly viewing of red kites flying over and around Pippin's. The owners are lovely and very welcoming."

    Stuart – 9 Jul 2018
"Fantastic, out of the way cottage with excellent facilities. Although it lists as pet friendly - they do not take cats."
    Donald – 29 May 2018
"Lovely cottage, well equipped, very clean and in a wonderful location."
    Juan – 7 Apr 2018
"Beautiful accommodation, spacious, 2 bathrooms ideal for family with teenagers, comfortable beds with lovely linen and all very well presented. All essentials and handy items and equipment present in the kitchen and welcome pack with seasonal touch added to feeling pampered from moment of arrival. Selection of boardgames,DVD's and books to spend family time on rainy day or evenings. Great place for walking and beautiful natural sights nearby, we also ventured out by car to have a day out in Snowdonia and a day in Brecon Beacons national park, both of which were long days for added driving but thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular scenery on the way."
    Valued Customer – 4 Apr 2018
"Really enjoyed our stay at S78247 despite the snow and muddy fields! comfy beds & sofas, well equipped kitchen. If you like the tranquility of remote Welsh Countryside this is perfect - if you want to be near pubs & shops it's not for you. We had a great time."
    Sally – 26 Mar 2018
"S78247 was delightful - comfortable, well heated, nicely decorated, lots of amenities, immaculately clean, surrounded by beautiful countryside, goodies left for us on our arrival and the owners were very helpful, particularly in lending us their hot water bottle escorting us down the snow covered lane to the main road when we left the property. The shower in the master bedroom was very weak, although the shower in the other bathroom was much better. The property is advertised as taking pets and we booked it on that basis. However, on double checking shortly before our holiday re cats and advising the owner that our cat only ever scratches his scratching post and never furniture, we were told by the owner that they do not take cats on the basis of the owner's severe cat allergy. I expressed my disappointment at this but also my understanding as this was due to health grounds, the owner explaining that their own cats are not allowed inside their house. However, it was clearly the policy of the owner not to take cats and not due to allergies as we saw a cat sat in the window of the owner's home on several occasions, at least once whilst they were definitely present in the house, which added to my disappointment about not being able to bring our impeccably well behaved cat. I think the property would be better listed as being 'dog friendly', not 'pet friendly' to avoid disappointment for guests."
