What our customers say about their holidays

Lovely, comfortable property in a fabulous location.
Beautiful views. Shop & pub within a short walk. Lots of great walks straight from the property in all directions. Car parking behind property which is great though not so good in icy, snowy weather as the access road is very steep. We did manage to find a space at the bottom of the hill before the snow came. Only hiccup was our gas ran out at 6.30pm on New Years Eve. 4 bottles outside but all empty. We contacted the number for out of hours problems and they rang me back within 20 minutes. Everyone pulled out all the stops and surprisingly we had a gas delivery at 10.30pm. Thank you to all. This was excellent service but really think its a bit crazy to let all the bottles run out, especially in the middle of winter in the Lake District. Sadly we will not be able to return to this property as they no longer accept dogs. This is a real shame and wonder what has happened to instigate this change.

The cottage is fully equipped for four people, it is also very welcoming and cosy with good outside space with the best views! The peace and quiet is amazing with only the cattle, sheep and the birds outside, which we love. The sky at night is gorgeous as its a dark sky zone with very little light pollution, so we spent the nights gazing up at the stars! The owners are so lovely, and they are around if you should need anything (which we didn't). I can't fault this location either, it's such a good spot to explore the coast and the various lochs in the area. We also visited the Red Kite feeding station in Laurieston, which is worth a visit. The town of Gatehouse has a good number of places to eat, both at night and during the day and there is a well stocked Spa too if you prefer to self cater.

Cottage was very well equipped, warm and comfortable.
Views were outstanding from the garden. Lots of positives could be listed. We found the private access road to be a big issue. It is extremely steep (1st gear steep) and has a pothole at the top. Our car struggled, with 4 passengers, so inevitably we had to leave our car in the bottom carpark. This meant a steep climb with bags, etc, everytime we went anywhere. Not ideal in the rain. The shared garden also has no gates (so not secure) and a big drop on one section. It does tell you to supervise your dog but we had to put ours on a lead everytime we let her out as she is inquisitive. Some fresh milk would have been lovely after a long drive. There were 3 mini cartons left in a tea caddy but that wouldn't have even made us one drink.

The cottage was gorgeous, clean, had everything you would need, washing up liquid, tea towels, tea bags, sugar, coffee and Mrs Hughes made a fantastic Victoria sponge cake she also left us milk in the fridge.
She also left us 2 bottles of water. As it was very hot we had to go and buy a lot more water, we were surprised that the water came from a well, and of course you couldnât drink it.So we had to buy rather a lot as we had 3 small dogs. Even though the directions were good we missed the Cottagesâs we were looking for the name âY Bwthynâand ended up at the Roman Steps!!! We turned back and it was hard to find as the cottage had no name, only recognised by the picture on my phone. We did have trouble with the shower very intermittent and the single track road was a bit scary to start with, but loved the cottage.

8 September no electricity due to a previous fault and works being carried out No Wifi in the cottage, also due to a previous storm Television was not up to standard, not receiving all channels and poor reception Cottage was very sparse, but were told that all nick nacks had to be removed due to Covid 19, looked very bare Very remote and road very narrow to the cottage We expected a working farm and were very disappointed that there were just a few sheep grazing now and again near the cottage Did not get to meet the owner, who was not even living on the premises Beds not very comfortable, mattresses to thin
