  Our booked six night stay consisted of one night before we gave the keys back and found somewhere else to stay.

  In 25 years of renting holiday cottages, this was by far the worst. Spartan, poorly equipped, no room whatsoever, no storage space and what we believed to be us having the run of a large garden (as the photos depicted) for our two spaniels, we had a 12 x 12ft patch of grass. The tv is at a 45 degree angle to the settee, so you had to crane your neck to watch it. No net curtains so no privacy. A kitchen without a cooker, draining board or washing machine, the latter essential for a cottage that's supposedly dog friendly. As for the front door..... We were told NOT to turn the car around using the property opposite's drive which necessitated reversing down the narrow lane to get out, no mention of this when we booked. Presumably the cottage owners and the neighbour don't get on? The directions to the place weren't even accurate. If this place WAS converted from a barn, I can only assume that the barn was more comfortable. When we departed on the Sunday morning, the owners weren't in, so I texted them to say we'd left the place and to let them know where we'd left the key. Several hours later they replied to say, "oh dear, thanks for letting us know, we hope you find something more suited to your needs". No apology, no " what could we have done to make your stay better?", essentially, " thanks for your £400, 'bye". I just can't believe the glowing reviews for this place, people must have very low expectations. We will NEVER book through you again, a complete and utter disappointment.   This was an exceptional apartment in the most stunning gardens.

  The standard and attention to every detail far exceeded our expectations and was so superior to other places we had stayed while travelling around Cornwall and other countries over the years. Such genuinely welcoming owners who went above and beyond to help with advice on all the fabulous beaches and coves to visit. We arrived tired from travelling and the little special touches such as a bit of milk, tea and coffee were very appreciated. We were amazed to have been left a bottle of wine and packet of gorgeous Cornish biscuits. A lovely welcoming gesture for weary travelling Kayakers. This was quite an unknown area of Cornwall to us. We have been stunned and amazed at this location with it's tremendous beaches, coves and historical harbours. Access to some excellent restaurants and cafes on our doorstep was a fantastic bonus. The quality of the accommodation and the beauty of the area has captured our interest beyond what we had expected. We didn't want to leave on the last day. Wow, what a location. We are planning to return within the year.

  A lovely holiday was had in St Austell.

  The fairly steep location of the cottage did not allow us to walk safely with children and dogs down to the beach. It’s a narrow, windy road with lots of through traffic. A car is a must. Porthpean beach was nice and very safe; however the water activity hut opened once during our 7 day stay and we never saw the cafe open which was disappointing. . Porthpewan Beach was really nice and the activities there were fab! The cottage itself allows easy access with a car to many other places. It was a good size and the bedrooms were all comfortable. Lots of home from home items making it easy to self cater. A refurb has been carried out to modernise the cottage but only to part of it, meaning it’s a little dated in parts. The garden was well kept and allowed a great outdoor space for the children.

  Greeted when we got there and really enjoyed the wine and Cream tea that had been left.

  Family was very nice, there if you need any help but also happy to leave you to get on in peace if you wanted. Property was Very Clean which was lovely. The front garden is an area set for you to sit and relax. Everything you need is provided for, When I booked the holiday I made the mistake of not realising there was no full size oven but that was MY mistake. There is a combination microwave oven and all instructions for all appliances are there if you want to work out how to use it. Not far from many places to drive and visit. Walking distance into Charlestown along the SW Coast took about 30 minutes, you have to be very able bodied to do this. Enjoyed a wander around the local par market which also has food and takeaways.

  When we walked in the cottage we were blown away it looked beautiful.

  The kitchen, dining room, and lounges especially the bay window overlooking the bay. As the weather changed and we found that the bathroom and on suit were damp the radiators did not come on and we had trouble drying towels and the loo rolls were always damp. We now realise we could have emailed the owner but they were on holiday in Mexico. I went to hoover the cottage and it didn’t pick up anything we took the head apart and it was completely blocked, hair and dirt and fluff. I cleaned it out and it worked perfectly. Perhaps the next people in the cottage got a cleaner one than we did. The other problem was the sensors that activated the lights in the hall and dining room we found a nuisance..
