What our customers say about their holidays

This was a very nice cottage and area to stay, I was very happy when I see inside and it was clean and shower looked good and was.
a great view out across to the beech that was only a short walk down and a beautiful beech it is to. the cottage was very well set out with all that was needed. it was a shame that trees stuck up in the view i see it says they are cut back but the trees i see cant be as they are fir trees and they don't grow up once they are cut at top. the steps or ramp up was a bit of a walk but for me no trouble. I had not noticed there was no WIFI and that for me was a shame as there is a phone line so WIFI would make sense to get if possible as I'm sure much business is lost by that or should be clear on wright up no WIFI. and it was a shame that the tv was so bad there is a sky dish with lots of channels that don't work as there's no sky and most of the free view channels didn't work and the ones that did was bad and broke up lots even on good clear days I think it would be good to rip that sky out and get free view dish all set up as i think cables maybe lot of trouble. i feel a welcome pack on table would be nice not much just a letter saying hi and what's what as it was in a folder on a book shelf out the way. but it was nice that there was tea and milk left that's a great touch. my points are not complaints just ideas as the cottage was clean tidy and a joy to stay in the bed was best i have ever stayed in and there's been lots over years. also great stop small walk to see and get pics of steam train one like in harry potter not same one i may add and small walk to beech and the town not far but very busy town. thank you for a good holiday

This I am afraid has already been discussed with Sykes and the owners .
This property was an Airbnb and this was never mentioned at all in the Sykes itinerary. Since further investigation it is on Airbnb website which directs you to Sykes. I have never booked an Airbnb before due to the nature of the contract and that itâs someoneâs home, I have had negative outcome from Sykes cottages more of less suggesting that what I was stating was untruths .. There was food left in freezer mince dated 3:8:23 but the owners have said this is untrue, i have not made this up.. no pat testing, books at the side of bed, wellington boots in hallway very strange if thatâs not an Airbnb I donât know what is !!! In time Sykes will understand and I am sure have more negativity with this accommodation on their books time will tell ,. The Scottish government have now brought in new laws that requires adaptation to properties such as this which I am sure you all ready know, if not you need to do some research. I have read reviews on your company since and even when people have provided evidence on their issues raised you have ignored .. simply not acceptable at all. This company has taken its finger off the ball!!! I would not recommend at all and will be mentioning this on as many platforms as possible

Good Points: - Excellent location for beach, main roads, Arisaig and Mallaig.
- Kitchen area and all appliances and cutlery etc, very high standard. - Very clean when we arrived. - Great response from Sykes and owner with our questions. - Bath towels were of a high quality. - Good selection of tv channels with good reception. Areas To Improve: - High level of dampness throughout the property, paperwork left out was damp the following morning, musty smell in most rooms - the weather was quite warm so did not want to turn heaters on to overcome it, or open the windows due to high midge levels around the cottage. - Bathroom had a good shower but the ventilation was totally inadequate and after the 4th person got showered it was very damp. We had to leave the bathroom door open all day to clear the moisture - same points as above for heaters and windows. - Size Of Property was great if there were two people, with two adults and two teenage children it was inadequate. One Sofa and two chairs sounds ok but the chairs were small and uncomfortable. Even the children found the sofa uncomfortable to sit on. We did not use the fold out dining table due to only having two folded up chairs and a short backless bench. - Again for two the wardrobe space was adequate but not for four.

Historic house located in a stunning, peaceful and private position with outstanding views.
Spacious and comfortable for us. Washbasins in each bedroom are good extras beyond the two bathrooms. Feels more like being in someone's home than a holiday let and the house must be much loved by the owners. Excellent safe parking and garden with grazing sheep in the adjacent fields/hillside. Excellent coastal, loch side and remote/mountain walking from the house or within a relatively short drive. Arisaig and Mallaig very near allowing access to ferries/boat trips to the surrounding islands. Beach a short walk away. It was exceptionally cold during our visit (in early March - minus 5 degrees overnight plus snow) so the heating system was at full stretch, when we arrived back after our days out, to cope and the rear family bedroom in particular was hard to keep warm. Locals informed us this weather was indeed exceptional.

Our happy place.
My husband and have booked Bourblach for first week in September the last two years and have already booked for 2025. We have our 30th wedding anniversary there during our stay next year. It's the only time in the year we have time for just us. No plans except spending time chilling and looking at the Silver Sands as tide ebbs and flows from the amazing viewpoint Bourblach provides. Immersed in nature swimming in sea or walking on beaches on your doorstep life slows for a week. I always shed a tear when we leave but already looking forward to.next years visit. Thank you to Shade and Jude for being there if needed and providing such a magical place.
