What our customers say about their holidays

We unfortunately booked Eastnor for a weeks break with my parents and my two children aged 2.
5years and 8 months respectively. We were very disappointed for several reasons. The property stinks of dog and the floor was covered in dog hairs. The sofa in the living area was smelly and dingy, and the throw covering it also stunk and made your clothes stink when you sat on it. There were clumps of dog hair on the kitchen floor. Not ideal when you have a curious baby and a toddler in tow. There were rats in the back yard and planks of wood with exposed rusty nails lying about. Again, not ideal with kids around. We arrived on a Friday pm bank holiday so we werenât able to report out dissatisfaction until the Tuesday, where upon the house was cleaned and a new throw provided for the sofa (other than by calling the emergency number which we didnât think was justified). So from a cleanliness/health and safety point of view we were not impressed. Onto more practical points particularly relating to having small children. I would not recommend this property for anyone with small children. The stairs are treacherous and my dad did actually slip half way down one flight but luckily caught himself with not a minor injury to his arm. One stair gate was provided for 2 flights of stairs. We had to use it at the top of one flight of stairs in case our toddler wandered in the night, although it wasnât technically suitable for use at the top of stairs because it creates a trip hazard on an already awkward set of stairs, so the owners might want to consider this if they plan to continue letting the property to families. The travel cot provided had no mattress so I had to co-sleep with our baby and my husband went into the bunk beds with our toddler. The terrace was only safely accessible via the toddlers bedroom (bunk room) so we were unable to make use of it after she went to bed which is when we would have had time to enjoy it. The alternative route onto the terrace via a tiny spiral staircase did not feel safe to us, particularly for my mother who has impaired vision. The property opens out onto one of the Cotswolds busiest A roads so not ideal with kids or for parking/loading and unloading of the car. We were unable to view the most recent feedback prior to booking which would have deterred us from booking our stay- there seems to be a convenient delay in posting negative feedback. We noted that the price of letting this property was slashed to almost half what we paid for the week after we stayed and we suggested that partial compensation might be offered to us to bring our payment online with this ie approx £1500 down to £800, but the owners flatly declined. Sykes have provided awful customer service and we wonât be using them again

The description of this property was good however I feel a few points could be added for this property to stand out more.
The property is in a quiet cul-de-sac. On arrival the property was tidy, all cleaning equipment, sprays, soap, tea towles, oven gloves & toilet roll, were included. We were advised to bring all this with us however were not needed. We were welcomed with a tray of goodies, bottle of prosecco cake, coffee, tea & milk. The property is well equipped with modern interior. The kitchen was high spec with an extention with a large dining table & L shaped sofa. Bifolding doors lead out to enclosed garden with outside table & chairs. We took a stair gate with us which we put on the kitchen doorway to ensure our dog did not have the roam of the house. As we spent most of our time in this area, a TV on the wall would of been an added bonus. There was a downstairs WC which should be added to the description, ideal for larger families staying. After reading a previous review, we were worried about the noise from the trains which pass the back garden. This did not bother us at all. The noise was minimal as not a main rail line and not high speed trains passing. The first & last train of the day did not disturb our sleep. The property is 5mins walking distance to the village. Only faults I could point out - there is no smart TV, so take a TV guide. I would recommend having a stair gate at the property. The recycling & rubbish bins were out of sight however overflowing already on arrival. The garden is large enough to include a hot tub which would have been nice, we have had in previous staycations for the price we paid. This property is a great base for visiting surrounding villages. We would stay again.

A beautiful comfy home in a very quiet cul de sac location, within easy walking distance to the town centre which offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants.
We were welcomed to a tray of goodies, including tea, coffee, milk, cake & Prosecco Information guide on property and local amenities can be found in folder on table in the hall way. This really is a home from home cottage. Our party consisted of 4 adults and a westie dog,, we were pleasantly surprised at the size of the property. The stunning high tech modern open plan kitchen was very well equipped, all cleaning products provided as well as - tea towels, wul, dishwasher tablets and washing power, so no need to bring. Large dinning table and chairs, L-shaped sofa. Bio folding doors leading onto a good size garden. Two good size double bedrooms and a single, all towels were provided and plenty of storage space although pictures do not show. A lovely size lounge with ample seating to snuggle up after a long day out. The property does have a downstairs toilet and very handy for larger groups. The garden does back onto a railway line - the noise did not affect us in any way and to be honest was nice to hear the trains come through as in such a quiet location. This cottage is a great base to explore the surrounding area, we would highly recommend and we would definitely come back. Would like to make a suggestion - A TV in the open plan living space would of been an added bonus as we spent most of our time in this area.

A comfortable and interesting holiday home .
The house has a great deal of character and the kitchen, in particular, is large and very well equipped. The milk and biscuits provided as a welcome pack were a nice touch. It was very sunny during our stay and the roof terrace was a pleasant place to have an early evening drink and relax at the end of the day. We had a very good break and we hope to return to Eastnor for a longer holiday in the future Plenty to see in and around Moreton- in - Marsh . Many shops, good pubs and restaurants are all within a few minutes walk . There is a supermarket directly opposite the cottage ( but not in an intrusive way) which is also very convenient ( Some previous reviews strike me as harsh - it is not possible to park directly outside to pack/unpack but there is plenty of street parking close by and even with a fair in town during our stay ( taking up a large section of the high street) we could park close to the house whenever we needed to . I've also seen criticism that the stairs are a bit steep - that is correct but it is clearly stated in the property info and in keeping with the character of an old property so not a surprise) Thank you !

The house was in a great location and had plenty of space.
The kitchen was well-equipped and the shower in the bathroom was brilliant. Having a bath and a shower was also great for a family property. However, unfortunately, the house was not very clean. There were cobwebs and spiders in all bedrooms and the carpet in the lounge contained lots of dog hair and looked as though it hadnât been hoovered. The underside of the cushions on the corner sofa in the open-plan living space was also covered in dog hairs and food crumbs. When we attempted to clean them ourselves, we realised that the vacuum had no suction whatsoever, which is probably part of the problem. The beds were also extremely uncomfortable. After the first awful nightâs sleep in the zip snd link bed, where I felt like I was rolling out of bed all night, we flipped the mattress which helped a little but they were still extremely soft and lacked any support. The mattress in the master bedroom was similar and extremely stained. Overall, the house was comfortable but at that price and in the current Covid climate especially, I would expect a much better state of cleanliness.
