Locations was excellent for seahouses and bamburgh, the balcony velux window in the lounge was lovely. The apartment was modern with well equipt kitchen, good parking. key collection was poor. The host required a deposit for breakages, we did not receive an email or message via booking app from them so had to ring to ask what the delay was and pay over the phone to gain access. Once paid they send you the code for the key safe. Not complaining about having the pay the waiver, but a phone call to check why we had not arrived or paid the waiver would have been useful? The property states toilet roll was provided, we were left 1 roll between 4 adults for a 3 day stay? The property advertised private bathroom, its actually a Jack n Jill bathroom which was a problem again for 4 adults sharing. We did have a fabulous weekend away but for the reasons above I would be reluctant to book with a host and stay property in the future. Sorry for the negative review but we rely on clear reviews for our bookings sohave no choice but to be honest.

The house itself is lovely and in the perfect location for places like Alnwick, Bamborough, Lindisfarne etc. The beaches in this area are stunning and you can walk for miles. The house was comfy, especially the beds and its in a lovely quiet street, with easy access straight onto the coastal path and just a few mins walk to seahouses harbour, meaning you can leave the car at the house if you are going to the Farnes or into the village or for a walk on the beach. There were a few issues, mainly in terms of the cleaning of the kitchen, but the patio door was also stuck. This meant we couldnt use the garden, which was disappointing as the weather was perfect to enjoy breakfast or an evening drink in the garden, but sadly that couldnt happen. All issues reported to Host and Stay so hopefully they will be fixed as it really is a lovely place to stay. It does seem strange that you book through airbnb, but then host and stay offer you discounts to book directly with them next time.

Immediately felt uneasy about the stay when we were hit with a large cleaning fee & an unexpected request for a deposit after the booking had been accepted. We decided to go ahead & the place was easy enough to find. But when we opened the door there was a strong smell of stale cigarette smoke throughout the entire house. As the sun set, we searched for the light switch & flicked it on. But there was no power! We tried the fuse box, normal. So we phoned the management company who directed us to a meter outside which read ‘emergency credit’. We pushed the button & fortunately, the meter got topped up for the remainder of our stay. Anyway, the house needs proper maintenance. The downstairs toilet runs. The upstairs toilet handle is very loose. The dripping & clicking from the bathroom kept me from sleeping & there was dog poo in the back garden. All in all, a disappointing stay made worse by the cleaners arriving 20 minutes early, waiting on the drive & making us feel awks AF.

Beachcombers is indeed a clean, comfortable, well-equipped house in a lovely position where you can easily walk into town and to the shore. The owners have furnished the house very thoughtfully. 10/10. We were greatly disappointed by the pervasive smell of cigarette smoke in the house. We did complain but no one came to call. Also, the thermostat on the shower did not work and the water ran too hot. And surely the Housekeeping team should notice that the toilet flush in the bathroom was not functioning - when cleaning the place? A shame the house is not well maintained. The rubbish outside was overflowing. In addition, it was a shock to have paid and then be presented with a bill of 25 pounds for extra insurance or a deposit of 250 pounds!! Booking.com used to say the charges were up front. Later, I did see this deposit mentioned in the last paragraph for the description of the property. Not to be repeated by us.

Quiet location which was perfect for us. Off street parking which was v. Safe for our car. Easy and good access to all the coast has to offer. The management company was very slow to return my phone calls regarding access to the property and with regards to a very minor problem with the TV co-ax cable. There is not a lot of room in the shared bathroom, however as stated it is a large shower with good water pressure. All in all I can happily recommend the property. That it wasn't made clear that it is an annexe property situated above the garage to the right of the main house and the key location was to the left of the garage. There are two key locations either side of the front door that are for the main house only. Only by asking the neighbours did we find the right key location.
