What our customers say about their holidays

Excellent dog friendly accommodation with warm and friendly hosts. The cottage was very comfortable with an amazing shower and very cozy beds. Great welcome hamper including treats for our two border collies who were made very welcome. The garden is lovely, fully enclosed and private. It is not attached to the house but to the side which means if you have dogs like mine, we had to put them on leads to go out of the front door to get to it but once they were in, they could run free without a care in the world. There is also a fully enclosed large farmers field opposite the house which we were allowed to use. This was great for early morning walks with the dogs before we set out for our adventures. Not sure this is available to guests all year round as there definitely has been livestock in it but it was a great bonus. Great pub about a minutes walk away which was great too. The food was amazing and it's dog friendly. A fantastic, well equipped cottage overall. Would definitely recommend. An exceptional cottage in our opinion.

This is the best Sykes cottage that we have stayed at.
If you are looking peace and quiet, surrounded by beautiful scenery then this is the place for you. Liz and Andy are the the perfect hosts from start to hand and were always on hand to chat or to advise on the places to explore. When you arrive they provide a welcome pack that consists of local foods and that will cater to you. The lodge itself is cosy, set within the owners garden which is yours to explore and relax in. The owners maintain the garden well, with numerous paths to explore you will always come across something new. We were able to spend most nights in the decked garden area, using the fire pit for marshmallows one night. Our hosts even joining us and having a long chat. With being in the countryside you will get to see the stars out in force and will get to enjoy the call of many animals in the night including owls. The only downfall is eventually you have to leave at some point. Oh and whilst I remember our hosts surprised us with fresh scones which were yummy.

Lovely place, perfect for us, location spot on.
Our arrival had been miss placed, so we had to leave and come back later as we couldn't get in and couldn't reach anyone via phone. Lovely owner apologised. I would suggest that the listing on the website needs updated, as shows a bath in the property. It's been replaced with a walk in shower, which whilst a very good shower, it wasn't ideal for using with my youngest with a disability. Fully enclosed garden area very useful should we return with our dog. 2 resident dogs on the farm gorgeous! No instructions regarding rubbish, or used towels and bedding, so we hope we left everything in an acceptable way. One thing we noted was how concealed the entrance to the farm is, even the 'hay for sale' sign was only visible when 'ontop' of the turning......just a thought if owners wanted to increase visibility for sales. Overall, a lovely property, friendly owners and dogs, property warm and inviting. Thank you, we will return.

It's our 2nd time back, we loved it so much last August and we decided to come back this year as it's the most wonderful place to stay.
Liz and Andy the owners are so welcoming and approachable and will always take time out to talk to you. They joined us one evening outside when we had the fire pit on. The gardens are amazing and it was lovely to sit outside and listen to the owls and all the wildlife. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The lodge itself is cosy and comfy and has everything you need and we ate in most nights. The welcome pack was amazing and so were the scones that Liz made. Most evenings we went for a walk to watch sunset as they were stunning and then came back and sat in the garden. The only downside was coming home. It's one of my favourite places plus it's not far from lots of beautiful national trust places. If I could rate this 10 out of 10 I would. It's an ideal place for couples or people who just want to take time out.

The garden was particularly helpful with the dogs.
The owners were very accommodating - they were perfectly happy for us to alter the week we were staying, when my husband's work retracted permission for his original annual leave. There was a stair gate permanently in for the downstairs, which was helpful as it allowed my 2 year old free movement in the ground floor area. The upstairs does have sloping roof areas in a few of the bedrooms, which is difficult if you're tall. There is also a limited amount of cupboard space and no full length wardrobe space (though there is half length). The downstairs bedroom was very big and spacious and has a number of wardrobes, so we hung everything full length of everyone's there. Biscuits were left, which was a nice touch and a few other essentials.
